I used to have an insane amount of shedding and the shower drain was always clogged - gross! In addition to a solid curl routine, one thing I know that's helped is I stopped being so rough when combing/brushing/styling/manipulating. I learned from Bianca to brush from the end and work your way up. Now the shedding is almost nonexistent. Woohoo!

Midori Hobbs I shed what I think is a lot of hair cause I see people pull out barley any hair and they say I lose a lot of hair which makes me think maybe I just am losing too much hair and I deep condition once a week then I finger detangle and go in with a comb to finish it off but I’ve heard people talk about manipulation but I don’t really know what that means

Have you ever thought that maybe it’s time for a trim? Most likely you shed more hair as you get closer to needing a trim. I know its a lot to chop off at once, but at least it’ll look healthier! Usually deep conditioning makes your hair flow the way it should and prevents breakage. If you’re noticing more breakage than normal, I would suggest either changing your hair routine or maybe just letting your hair breathe a little more

Really focus on those legumes, green leafy greens, and raisins - phlebotomists at the blood donations centers know this! Also, the best sources of vitamins, minerals, and macronutrients (like protein) will be from a well-balanced diet rather than from supplements (like an iron or biotin supplement).

I use fermented rice water that I make myself. There's a village in China that swears by rice water and they have, on average, 6 feet of hair, hardly any grey if any at all, and they have a lot of hair. What I do is I get brown rice, any rice will do, but I personally use brown rice, and I pour the rice into a glass jar, then I rinse the rice twice to get the chemicals off of the surface. I full the jar with rice up with water, and I put a lid on it and let it sit in room temperature for 1-2 days. Drain the water into a bowl, spray bottle, or another jar, and put the rice to the side. You can use the rice water for a mask or just as a rinse in the shower, I do both. You can blend the rice up and make it into an exfoliant, it works very well. To stop fermentation for any excess product, put it in the fridge. Not gonna lie, the smell can be pretty bad, but you don't really smell it in your hair or body after you use it. The water is good for both hair and body, and I really recommend it. I don't even use product in my hair, just rice water and avocado oil.

I brush my hair and feel like so much comes off it it but I’m not shedding throughout the day or even when I touch my dry hair or in the shower which is so weird to me. My hair brush needs to be cleaned out AT LEAST once a week so I might just be loosing my 50-100 hair follicles in a brush each day and that’s it which would make sense so this video is very helpful. I love the briogeo line, and don’t despair mask is one of my favorites, they have a new shower cap version and I use that once a month and other castor oil/coconut oil hair masks but I’m going to use a deep conditioning mask once a week instead or along with and update you with results!

It reduced less shredding and it make your hair very soft i do it every other month

Heeellowww Curlfriends! About DIY protein treatments.. I have tried using Braggs liquid aminos mixed with your regular conditioner, it has tons of vegetable protein and has worked perfectly for me. Just leave for 15-20 mins and rinse out and voila! The aminos smell like soy sauce but the smell doesn’t linger in your hair after washing. Also, a diy mas with banana, avocado and coconut milk is packed with protein just make sure you use organic coconut milk (because some of the canned ones are mixed with preservatives) and make sure to strain the banana so you don’t get chunks stuck in your hair. (i also heard that you could use banana baby food as a replacement for that since it’s already strained) and voila! But I do have the deep sea repair and my hair loves it! I hope I was able to help you Bianca on your research! As well as other people looking for different options 😘

Love these tips. I had some serious shedding last year because I'm getting up in age. I started a weekly deep conditioning ritual and it helped to reduce some of the shedding. I also massage my scalp nightly with some essential oils - peppermint, cedar wood, rosemary - in a castor oil base. And I use these essentials with a battery operated scalp massager. That has also helped. And my shedding isn't half as much as it used to be. Thanks for your great videos!

Something I did that really made a difference was pree poos with oils. It helped my shedding and my hairline. It also makes my hair super soft and shiny. Simply apply the pree poo before shampoo, leave it in at least an hour or overnight( the longer, the better) and just wash and deep condition. My recipe is coconut, grape seed, olive, Jamaican black castor oil, sweet almond, avocado, and argan oil. I add some lavender essential oil for it’s amazing smell. (Another good thing to do is to warm the oil in a bottle, in a bowl of warm water before applying)

I absolutely swear my curls by the Palmers coconut oil formula deep conditioning protein pack! It works absolute wonders on my 3c, fine curls and I've heard from some of my friends with tighter type 4 textures having successes with this too! When I was transitioning, I always bought a ton of the little sample sizes (which lasted for 2-3 wash days sometimes 4) and I swear by it my curls came back so strong and healthy after consistently using it for a whole year! I saw a difference within MONTHS on my damaged stringy lifeless hair. Even just yesterday, fully natural now, I revisited it and my curls LOVE this stuff! I have tried good deep conditioners no doubt but this one just snags my heart every time I use it. The only con is for whatever reason, they only come in a little sample pouch. There's no actual pot or bottle for the product itself but you can still get a good amount of uses out of it for only $3 at your local beauty supply!!! Hope this helps x

the curly girl method does work for everyone, you just need to be very careful about how you wash your scalp. The two main reasons youll have exess shedding are, you're not washing your hair properly, or two, you're puting too much condtioner/styler at your roots. with no poos, make sure you really rub your scalp hard! with no poo, its the friction that cleans your hair, not the product, when you think its clean, rub some more, then when you rinse the product, rub your scalp some more, rub it all away! then with stylers and condtioner, apply it to your mids and ends, and then work what is in your hair further up, dont put more on your roots
@Lisandraaaa7 жыл бұрын
Fabulous thank you!! But what if I'm using low poo? Do I need to rub my scalp as much?

The onion juice method helps with hair shedding. The GreenBeauty channel has two videos about the benefits of using onion juice. One video shows her hair results for 6 months. She did once a week on her washdays

DIY hair mayonnaise is great for protein treatments as you can adjust the ingredients according to your hair needs. Also if you have problems with dry/thinning edges wearing a shower cap is a must, when you wash your face it's easy to get water/soap on your edges and that dries them out. Castor oil is great as you said. My hair is protein sensitive too so I don't use hair mayo or protein treatments more often than once in 6 weeks but I have found the Philip Kingsley Elasticiser as a pre-poo is great, I also add some Aloe Vera to my pre-poo and it works amazingly as a detangler xx

I've been eating a lot more protein because I want to lose some fat for 1 month now and my hair doesn't shed as much, detangling is so easy, it's a lot stronger. I'm actually amazed by the difference and god knows I tried so many things to stop my hair from falling so much.

Great video and very informative. However, if you use the Nioxin it will grow your hair but once you stop using the product and products like it your hair will go back to the way it was prior to use. Keep the videos coming. Definitely enjoyed my hair video fix today. Take care.😊

Hi, protein is definitely a big thing and too much of it, can also be counterproductive. For very weak, damaged or naturally very fine hair I use neutral Henna/Cassia treatments once a month max. It coats the hair and fills in damaged parts of the cutical. It strengthens and protects from physical damage. Using it will leave you wet hair feeling kind of dry but this feeling will fade after drying. It has to react with oxygen to work properly. Don't worry about this strange feel to the wet hair. There are a lot of DIY here. I prefer the henna gloss masks. Henna + water + conditioner (+ Amla). This gives me the best results. 10 - 20 min depending on the hair type. Less is more here. That's a protein bomb so only use once a month max! 🤗

I'm going to try the Briogeo Dont Despair, Repair and the B-well vitamins. After a lifetime of pin-straight hair, I grew it out and it was as curly as the width of a pen!!! I was thrilled! It's very long now too. But as white hair is growing in ( age 55 ) my hair is falling OUT! Sometimes it's in enormous amounts sometimes medium. But it falls out just while I sleep. I dont lay on it. I flip it above my head. I never comb it (unless I have a tangle) but finger comb it. I finally have hair I only dreamed of, BUT IT FALLING OUT IN HANDFULLS! I hope this stuff works

I have been using these 2 protien infused deep conditioners for the past few months and they have helped soooo much and they are healthy the first one is Shea Moisture Jamacian Black Castor oil deep conditioner it contains keratin. And the second is way more affordable and its the Cantu deep conditioner it also has protien and it's so thick and mouistrizing. Hope this helps out your investigation lol... Much love xoxo

Great info! I know when I first began my curly hair journey exactly one year ago, my hair fell out so much I got really scared but I did use a great deal of silicone in my hair products and I have eczema which makes your hair fall and I also take strong medications which also make your hair fall. It's been challenging making all these adjustments but I do have to say that since I've been doing the curly method, my hair is getting thicker and stronger. I am now being consistent with deep conditioning, I do use castor oil on my scalp, I take vitamins with biotin and ceramides, I eat much healthier and I think that's about it! lol! I hope this helps someone. I know what it is to lose my hair and have bald patches so my heart goes out to you. By the way, Bianca your hair is so beautiful and the color green looks really good on you!

Bought the Shea Moisture Manuka Honey and Mafura Oil Intensive Hydration Masque on recommendation from India Batson, despite having to pay 1500 Rs (not cheap at all). Changed my hair. Been using it for two months weekly and the curls at the back of my hair, which used to not curl up at all and stay straight and frizzy, began to show. Also a decrease in hairfall, only 20 minutes a week. I'm definitely sure that I'm experiencing hairfall because of the tight ponytails I pull my hair into on a daily basis. Even my hairdressers who blowdry my hair straight tell me to not wear tight hairstyles, but I commute two hours one day through extremely crowded and non-air conditioned public transport. My hair wouldn't survive even a day. I think I'm definitely shooting myself in the foot.

Nioxin supposedly haves ingredients that can cause more hair loss . Like sulfate . I used it for 3 months I think it helped but it was causing a lot of dryness and I had a lot of breakage

Thanks for all of the info Bianca! I am a low porosity, protein sensitive curly girl so very much looking forward to the upcoming video you mentioned because my curls definitely prefer products that do not have protein in them for the most part. I don’t feel as though I have a huge problem with shedding or hair loss because I deep condition weekly, eat a lot of the foods you mentioned and comb my hair properly. I am however interested in learning more about hair growth tips...

My hair is low porosity so it doesn't require as much protein, but when I need it I either use shea moisture hair masques (a lot different ones are protein based), or I do a DIY hair masque and add coconut milk to the mixture. My favorite mixture is avocado, EVOO, honey and coconut milk. Since coconut milk is a liquid it can be categorized as a hydrolyzed protein. I prefer hydrolyzed protein for my hair because it absorbs better into my low porous hair since it's a liquid. Plus I'm adding it to a deep treatment so my hair can absorb it better.. It's a win win and my hair loooovvvveesssss it. I hope this helps

I loved my results from using a mix of oils! I personally liked using 2 parts Jamaican black castor oil and 1 part coconut oil. Since my hair is a fine texture I needed something lightweight to mix with the castor oil and my hair loves coconut oil. I also took hair skin and nail vitamins and my hair was growing half an inch every two weeks not even exaggerating lol. I took the vitamins every morning and did the oil treatment at least twice a week and it was amazing!!

I have hair loss issues and I tired taking viviscal. It’s a hair growth vitamin you take twice a day for three months and after that you can take one a month for maintenance. I have been taking it for two months now and I have noticed a decrease in my hair shedding and my hair strands look and seems stronger. You can buy the vitamins right if the viviscal website and I think they may have a discount there or you can purchase them at GNC. My dermatologist recommended I take this for my hair loss.

Yes, if you are putting your hair in a bun everyday like I did for some time, you're going to see a lot of hair shedding, especially in the shower, when you take it out. Also, I completely abandoned my comb recently and only finger detangle. Now I don't see any substantial hair loss

I honestly have A LOT of hair and always have. But I do tend to pull my hair back so much because im just lazy lol!! this summer I did wear my hair down as much as possible without pulling it back so tightly, and when it was time for me to pull my hair back slick it didn’t look as thin! And if I’m not mistaken , the Mielle Organics babassu something hair mask contains a bit of protein and it’s one of my favorite masks for anyone who would like to try. Hope this helps!

I would love to see the tea tree rinse! This past summer I would put my hair in super tight buns almost everyday since I had band camp and we were outside so my hair would get fried, and when I'd wash my hair I'd notice that i would lose so much hair. And I got genuinely concerned over time. But now that my hair has grown and I'm more wise about hair and hair styling I no longer lose mass amount of hair!

At 1st I was not a fan of finger detangling & I thought ppl who did it were crazy but I actually really love it now, even if it takes longer. I still use a widetooth comb but only after finger detangling☺❤

Love the video hair tips! And my hair was shedding a bit before due to dryness because I didn't really put products in it while natural to keep it moist but now that I'm using "blueberry bliss hair growth oil-tiny 4oz bottle and cantu leave in conditioning repair cream-16 oz jar" my hair has been really healthy and moist and soft also both can be found at target. My hair sheds way less now and my beautician gave me "motions shampoo-sulfate free-contains shea butter argan oil and coconut oil" i don't know where it's found but it keeps my hair soft shockingly because its a shampoo but i don't use in every wash

So happy you made this lol I been struggling with more shedding than usual since last summer but I’m starting to think it might be the new normal for me... my hair as grown a lot and has gotten thicker so maybe it’s just a new phase. I started doing protein treatments more regularly (instead of as needed) to see if it would help with all the knotting that I’ve been getting as a result of the shedding I’m getting now and it has helped a bit. I use a hydrogenated wheat protein treatment by green beauty products cuz the protein is small enough to actually penetrate the hair shaft (unlike a lot of diy protein treatments that are easy to whip up in the kitchen) therefore I get actual strengthening benefits to my hair follicles. I’ve also tried the green tea rinse once and I think that helped a bit too, gonna try it again next wash day. Hope this helps someone, love ya Bianca Renee!
