I used to do lay flat standing on a bucket. I switched to angled piece of 4’x5’ foam covered with a blanket.

When hanging clothes, I'm sure you're aware the flourescent lights will fade the shoulder areas over a period of time. A $1 plastic table cloth slit down the middle will help if hanging from rafters. A metal pipe or PVC pipe and shower rod holders will do the trick.

Questions? Why don’t you just extend the hanging thing down lower? Or you could set up a pulley system (between the two ceiling joists) and adjust the height of the hanger 🙋🏻‍♀️
