It is a good idea to get your packages scanned. However, in 25 years of reselling, and sending over 25,000 packages, I have had 2 packages not show scanned and never show up. My post office has a spot on the counter and I leave the packages there and they scan them when they get a chance. The time I save on waiting in line FAR makes up for those two packages in extra listing time. Of course, it depends on your comfort and how good your post office is. If there isn't a line, go ahead and get them scanned. But also, double-check that they do scan them. An office near me does not scan anything left on the counter or in the drop box. They just get sent to the nearby sorting center and get scanned there the next day. That won't work for most ebay sellers, so make sure you know if they scan or not.

I have the self scan kiosk and it does give you a receipt however I was told by USPS it is not considered received until an employee scans it in the case of a filing a missing package claim.

I've never waited in line and had them scan my items at the post office. I drop them in the package bin, or put on counter where they process them. Have left 1000's of packages over the years with no issues.

Regarding to use of the kiosk. That is not an USPS acceptance scan (it just says the item has been electronically scanned). Additionally, if you use the kiosk after 2pm, it does not get scanned until the next day.

In regards to changing a customer's address on your end, manually as opposed to having them repurchase the item with the correct address. Wouldn't the eBay delivery verification Bot or whatever is being used that checks the delivery of the parcel to the customer. Not verify that it's been sent to a different zip code and then mark it as not delivered. That's why I'm thinking you have to cancel and let the person update the new address and then repurchase because they catch you when you send an item on a different service. If it's supposed to be priority and you send it ground advantage. You usually wiill get a strike. So what is figuring out that it was on a different service. I would assume it will also check that it was delivered to the correct zip code that is in the account. And it would be showing that it was delivered to a different zip code. I've heard some resellers discuss this issue with buyers. Getting a message that the item was deliver, and they have found out that some depots that sort the mail for the area. When it gets scanned into the depot. It's for some reason is marking the package as delivered to the final destination. When it is really being delivered to the sorting center? So when you get a message from a buyer saying the item did not arrive and it saying deliver. Just tell them that sometimes when packages get brought into certain sorting centers and it gets scanned. For some reason, it is marking delivered to the customer. That's a glitch in USPS system. Wait another 7 days and reach out to you when it arrives or after 7 days, if it has not most will message you when it arrives but that will keep any scammers from thinking they can then get the package later and then say it never arrived.

The scanning of packages I always do for a receipt. My post office has a kiosk & if I can't get there when they are open I have a post office across from my office I can walk to. But I really try to avoid having to go to the counters for anything. If it's UPS our local Staples store has a counter which is really nice because they give a store coupon when you ship from there.

On the item not received issue. First thing I tell them is contact your local post office ASAP. The sooner you do this the greater the chance of retrieving a misdelivered package becomes. I will also tell them I will look into this as well, which I actually do (I know not my problem) but that’s just who I am. Always have gotten issue fixed.

That is funny about dropping items off. I had another reseller also say you MUST get a scan. 95% of the time I just drop them off. My post office has a bin to put them in without waiting in line. I also if I have a good amount of packages I just wait in line and they empty my bin and off I go. I never wait for them to all be scanned in. Been doing ebay for over 20 years and haven't had packages disappear (at the post office). Sometimes the standard envelope packages get lost in the shuffle. And also ebay has the tracking number. Anyway I just do not think its important to wait for them to scan.

I have a kiosk at my PO and I scan each one myself and print my receipt. They have a camera there showing that drop location and they told me they can retrieve that film showing me scanning and dropping into bin. It does not update the usps system, they still have to scan it, but my PO told me that’s all the proof I need. So I can drop off my packages 24 hrs a day, 7 days a week.

On your app click the sold, then there is a lock feature on that line. Click and it will stay on.

I think you also have to change something in your ebay app settings - like "Turn lockable filters on" or something like that. Then the lock should appear next to your filters as kelly jane stated. You can toggle the lock on to keep "Sold" selected permanently (until you turn it off).

One thing I've picked up from you, since you often sell items in this price range, is not to shy away from selling products in the $10 to $20 range. I tried it out, and the sales volume is pretty solid at that level. As a new full-time reseller, I’m all about profit, no matter the amount! I always aim to make ten times gross profit the cost of goods on any item, and that strategy has been working well for me.

When the seller changes the address, this opts the seller out of the seller protections that Ebay offers. Beware.

The one that used to make sellers crazy was when the registered international eBay address did not fit on a USPS label. You had to change the address to get the label to print. The new -ish international shipping program fixes that problem at least.
