O bro finally you have find my beloved Sheena ... she is really phenomenal! You have to look more in her discography, there are the some phonemenal songs. I have to say so mild and power voice with huge range is exceptional, in my country we have near this female singer and she is very popular in 40s years. She can cry as a bebe and do sound of elephant ... really amazing.

Sheena Easton is in deed a great performer and everything she sings shines. Gary Morris put out a “country” version of this in 1983 that is beautiful also. Gary possesses an opera quality voice and you can understand each lyric in his version as well. Both he and Sheenaare superior talents.

Another phenomenal vocal performance by her is when she did the ballad “when he shines” She said it was her homage to Barbra Streisand. She tried to sing it the way she thought Babs would sing it if she recorded it.

Thanks for the great reaction, Harri! Sheena and her label never released "Wind Beneath My Wings" as a single, so her version never charted. It was just a track on her 1982 "Money, Madness and Music" album. While I enjoy Bette Midler's version from the 1988 movie Beaches" a lot, I like Sheena's better.

Hi Harri! Bette Midler sang a great version of this song, but Sheena Easton sang a great version with the emotions! And we all felt that same emotion in her powerhouse performance! Sheena Easton's version is my absolute favorite! Another song I highly, highly recommend is "Almost Over You" by Sheena Easton. How good is it? I suggest you get ready to do a standing ovation when she's done. Her vocal abilities will amaze you! --- Bill

Wonderful, thanks Marcus (?) and Harri. If you haven't heard it, Sheena's them to the Bond film For Your Eyes Only is great (1981). An aside: the title sequence was among many done by Maurice Binder who developed a friendly crush on Sheena - in part because she was short like him.

I remember watching this, and back then we had no computers. I had no idea that she was Scottish. It blew my mind when I first heard her talking. I like her version better than Bette Middler’s. Thanks Harri, I really enjoyed your review. Truth be known, I actually enjoy all of your reviews. You have a very pleasant way about you. I don’t know your age, but you would have fit right in with us hippies in the early 70’s.

I didn’t know that Bette Midler’s version was a cover. That’s the only version I’ve ever heard. It got a ton of airplay…and I vaguely recall it being used in a movie, maybe. So, it may be a bit unfair, then, to say that I much prefer the cover by Bette. I’ve always loved Bette Midler’s voice- very rich and easily handles a sweeping ballad such as this. To my ears, Sheena’s voice sounds a bit thin and reedy…just not quite up to the power vocals of Bette’s. Also, it didn’t sound like a live performance. I do like some of Sheena’s songs, but I’m afraid this isn’t one of them. Harri, as you noted wisely, musical taste is very individual/personal. I’m not knocking anyone who prefers this original version. Just my 2 cents 😉
