A little friendly competition is great for getting a job done, especially if you're otherwise not feeling it due to a lack of sleep, etc. It was a treat to watch some unedited shearing. Beautiful sheep.🐑 Big Stuart seems to be smart about protecting his back. I imagine that is a hazard for shearers. Greetings to Lizzie and wee Jock as well!👋

Hey Cammie, I saw you on Grahame's videos and I have something as an idea to enrich the lives of your sheep. Recess a trampoline in the ground so that it allows for bigger jumps or weight. But sheep LOVE jumping on the trampoline. What better way to say "Good girl !"Once they realize it's there and check it out, they're in love with it. Have you ever seen sheep on a trampoline?? Well, this is a perk for humans... absolute laughter, and they feel like they can fly. To be sure, I cracked up. Many blessings Cammie (and apologies if I'm spelling your name incorrectly). God has a great sense of humor, I'm sure He'd get a chuckle or two considering we're HIS sheep. 😃😃😃❤❤❤

excellent video! BUT now I have questions 1) you said that these sheep are 'tick acclimated'; please explain how this is possible, do they treated with anti-tick stuff like you would have your dog treated to keep fleas and ticks at bay 2) I've heard this term several times but nobody explains - a 'tension crease' what is it, how does it come about and how do you shear with that issue (can you show us one?) and one more thing, congratulations on the birth of your son, what a sweetie he is. all my good wishes to Lizzie too. thanks! and yes, we all know we're living in the wrong country-- oh my, look at that lush scenery!!!!
@TheSheepGame3 жыл бұрын
So they are treated regular for ticks and are able to stand a fair amount of them on their skin in between treatments. Some sheep would just go sick in the same situation. I’m not sure what Tension crease is? What part of the video did i mention it? 😁
@CraftyLady223 жыл бұрын
@@TheSheepGame so the ticks are taken care of when the sheep are dipped?! Tension crease (heard in other shearers' videos) aaha! wrinkles! found the answer - sheep have excessive wrinkly skin or the skin 'wrinkles' due to the fleece being heavily matted. I've watched a lot of shearing videos from all over the world and I understand this is an occupation, what makes your videos worth watching is the fact there's no blood. you and the boys get into a rhythm, its a smooth rocking motion. I see other videos and the poor sheep are so badly lacerated and sewn up and you can feel the tension of the shearers to get done the job at the cost of the sheep welfare. thanks Cam and keep the scenery coming too, I'm almost packed and one day will return to the land of my ancestors. bagpipes make me cry. Good stuff! Questions: 1) I noticed you don’t use their horns as the handy handles they seem to be. Instead you seem to use their head and ears for leverage almost the same way as you do when shearing hornless sheep. Is avoidance of using horns as handles better shearing form, habit, or are their horns more fragile than they seem? 2) Wrt “Tick mops” 😳 are sheep covered in ticks? Are ticks scattered through the depths of their wool? Are you covered in ticks when you shear? This is a whole side of sheep I never considered. Big congrats on your little one! You’re a beautiful family. 💕
@TheSheepGame3 жыл бұрын
Hi Laura, so 1) we don’t usually grab their horns when shearing because they don’t like it. So they will kick and struggle if we grab them. 2) You usually see ticks on the bare skin around their legs and udder but in fairness they don’t actually have that many ticks on them.
@LauraBirenbaum3 жыл бұрын
