Just discovered Sheer Mag today. These songs are so good!!! When did people start writing good music again??? Is rock not dead??? Please keep me updated

As a writer/musician/ producer I am constantly surrounded by music, and this is in my opinion the best song/ performance that I have heard in years by any band. The guitar riff and chord choices are so tasty, and when the singer hits "that" note ( there's at least four of 'em) I smile. The bass glues it all together and the drums serve the song as Ringo ( before my time but a closer listen reveals how intuitive and inventive Ringo was) did.

I like the voice, but can't figure out how such a big girl has such a little thin voice. Her voice is pretty resonant on the KEXP studio talk session. She might sound pretty cool singing a bit lower.

Amazing vocals. They’re deliberately recorded lo-fi, which makes them get fuzzy and not so clear, but if you understand this, it’s so easy to see the amazing vocals underneath. I personally love it. And fools talking about her looks? I hope she doesn’t change a damn thing. She’s a star.
@timothymccormick5736 жыл бұрын
no it's just a shit recording, and she is hiding any talent she actually has in vocal effects worse than Keisha . holds the mic to close when she signs, has too much gain on it, more reverb & delay than van halen's eruption. Elvis and his era had the sound your talking about and never sound that bad.

Yes, the awesome guitar playing would make Eric Clapton, Jimmy Page, Joe Walsh, and Mark Knofler smile, but the vocals are crushing it as well. I am sure she could sing beautifully if she wanted, or emulate the slew of pop singers out there that all sound alike, but this song calls for attitude, which she has tons of. Any open minded listener can hear she has vocal talent and a style all her own.
@timothymccormick5736 жыл бұрын
yeah but its mixed like shit and uses too much effect on her voice, is where all the criticism is coming from. Dude i used to manage bands and have a degree in music, they needs to fix some things if they want to be taken serious, starting with the reverb abuse in a small room causing a distorted standing wave in the recording.

Ester Nadiv Also, kind of like someone who just discovered MIDI sequencing, and now stuffs in as many notes as they can because they can. The riff is shapeless. I really like their song Fan the Flames, though. Maybe they're in their coked out, wanky virtuoso arena tour phase.

Awesome reminds me of Phoenix and Daft Punk but more rocky. I understand people's grief with the vocals but I blame the distortion effect which makes it sound too screechy. Brilliant band, but need the right producer who understands how to make authentic 70s radio hits to take it to the next level. I don't think there are many of these guys around these days, if any. I do love this band and I hope they crack their formula. They are so close P.S. I know the current producer is going to think I'm an idiot who doesn't know what they're talking about. I apologise dude, no offense meant. Peace and love

Everyone saying she has a terrible voice is so hypocritical. If it were a man singing, you’d be fine with it. But she puts on a masculine voice and you hate it.. not all women are soft wilting flowers.
@shecklesmack95636 жыл бұрын
Astrid Wagner what are you on about? If it were a man, it would be a completely different voice. You haven’t made any point whatsoever. There are plenty of shit male vocalists... and plenty of amazing female vocalists. And vice versa. She just happens to fall into the category of a shit female vocalist. Are we not allowed to be critical because she’s a woman? Social justice at its finest.
