This is my fav Em song by miles. The way he tells a story and conveys the imagery is top notch. From a technical standpoint, it's a masterclass - the way he uses inflections, how he splits words and chooses cadence, and utilizes the odd character-voices is absolutely nutty. I know he got a ton of guff about the voices when the record came out & thereafter, but if you look at it from the viewpoint of those voices being experiments in bending words, syllables, and sounds to create unique rhymes and schemes - it's amazing. I couldn't agree more. He wrote this song towards the end of the recording of Relapse so most of the album is not at this level. But I'll never forget buying Relapse and nervously listening to it hoping Em would be Em. He cant just shoot them or run them over or anything like it, he needs his victims fear like others need love so he keeps them alive through unspeakable acts to ensure they know the fate that awaits them and even then he needs this part drawn out as long as possible. Yo, this girl just hit nail on the head saying that "you can read eminems lyrics and not know where the rhymes are". I brought an eminem lyric book back in 1998 when I was 13, the Internet was not great so I could not hear the actual sound of em performing l, but I tried to rhyme his raps, sometime, like they where my own in front of my mates lolol, but I could never get the cadence necessary to make the words em writes sound good like he does. This song is a masterpiece. It’s the maximum expression of a skillset that no one possess. Delivery, rhymes, hystoric knowledge, narration, flow, poetry rules when composing lyrics, production… There are people who only got one these many abilities which are considered music masters/famous singers. He possess all of them and demonstrates their best form. Unbelievable song. Amazing does not even get close. I have the chills everytime I listen to this shit.
