Maybe a minor complaint, but did anyone find it annoying that Paz died for like, nothing? Someone could've easily covered him and he could've escaped too, and regardless his death wasn't narratively built up at all and felt sudden. And then his death wasn't mentioned a single time after that.

@@0giraffe0 Yeah the whole beskar armor thing is extremely inconsistent in the final episodes. Like in season 2 we see Din be literally unstoppable and tank like 20-30 blaster shots at a time (think storming the cruiser with Bo or the fight with Boba) yet here guys are dying after like 1 shot to the chest. I think the worst thing about this Era of starwars is that with the depiction the new republic being so ineffective it devalues everything the rebellion fought for. Like, why watch any starwars now knowing its all for nothing and any victory is short lived until Palpatine is finally destroyed... again.

There shouldn't have been an immediate change of government in the first place. The death of the emperor doesn't mean the empire is suddenly gone. The process of ridding the galaxy of the empire should at least have taken like 10 years and tons of battles. Even George screwed this up by adding Jar Jar and all the planets galaxy-wide celebrating at the end of Jedi.

I haven't finished Jedi Survivor yet, but it seems to very strongly start into a mindset of "Are we really changing anything?" with what I presume is a decently positive attempt at an answer for this. But like you said, Palpatine just rises after 30 years and every legacy main character has become a deadbeat alcoholic old person basically. It's going to be something to potentially see all the post order 66 survivors return to recreate the council with Rey. With Luke & Leia maybe only being there as bits of fanservice as they pretty much don't amount to anything else now that they're dead.

Paz Visla died the way he lived. Being way too aggressive and surviving far more blaster bolts than anyone realistically should. (Did they just forget between Bad Batch and now how to make a stun blaster?) What annoys me the most about the New Republic in both this show and the Sequel trilogy is that it acts like previous incarnation of the Republic, i.e. corrupt, slow to react to threats etc. However, the original Republic had thousands of years to slide into corruption and decadence. The New Republic has had 30 years and to suggest that this would happen in that short amount of time just feels unrealistic, especially without any mega corrupting force like Palpatine in the Prequels.
@kingorange7739

And given what we learned from Mando season 3, it did not take even 30 years to fall into such corruption and inefficiency, but instead five. At this point, that security guy had a point. Nah the New Republic makes sense. Most of the territory they inhabited consists of a generation of people who were influenced by imperial propaganda and corruption. There was literally so many things that could have been great in this season, especially in regards to Paz Vizsla and Bo Katan. There should have been some conversation between them about Pre Vizsla and some character building for Paz as a whole in regards on how he views his clan. The campfire scene in chapter 4 was LITERALLY perfect for that, only to end with Bo Katan alone in the fire. Not only that, if you look closely with some members of Children of the Watch, you can see that 3 of them have the Death Watch symbol, wouldn't this give Bo Katan some conflict with them considering her past with them being a former member and all?

Shit, they could have had Bo Katan actually address her past! When she was introduced in season 2, she insulted the children of the watch, despite being a former member of its parent group death watch, and took a seemingly 'holier than though' stance in regards to it. Unlike the children of the watch, which is a pretty harmless cult, deathwatch was an actual terrorist organization, with her actions having been far worse than Din Djarin's ever were. It just felt stupid for the writers to neglect this crucial aspect of her past, especially with the many opportunities for her to address it, leaving her seeming incredibly hypocritical and narcissistic.

I dont feel this was incompetence on Jon's part. I think he actually was partially not caring, due to having to tie up loose threads after so much got upended. Gina Carano fired, Grogu forced back (because it makes sense for Disney to force Jon to bring him back for sales), Pedro at least being busy (Possibly having a disagreement, but we don't know for sure) And Filoni, while around at times, had to focus on Ahsoka, & couldn't be around as much. Favreau had to solve so much, it feels like he stopped caring, gave some base level things, filled an episode slot with Pershing from the intended "Rangers of the New Republic" show, filled part of another with cameos, and in the 2-part finale just went with lazy writing: ● Survivors that lead to the goal, ● The convenient monster, ● Cliche clone stuff, ● Easy resolutions. The ending with Mando talking about working with the New Republic seems like the show resetting to basics. Din & Grogu doing their thing, going around the galaxy. I am cautiously optimistic for Ahsoka, and hope the movie does well. I feel Boba Fett & Mando Season 3 were interfered with, and hope future things will be relatively left alone.

What irritates me the most about Bo Katan, is that not only does Book of Boba Fett say "she's a cautionary tale because she tried to rule off of right of blood," but she's also a COLOSSAL failure when it comes to leading the Mandalorians. She failed to prevent Maul from taking over. She failed to prevent the Empire from taking over. She failed to prevent the Empire from nuking them. She failed to secure the Darksaber, thus giving her right to rule, and leading to abandonment of her by her people. And this same woman is supposed to be the ones leading the Mandalorians NOW? A stiff breeze could take over Mandalore at this point, and her leadership is probably why the Mandalorians aren't even referenced in the Sequels (that and gross incompetence). On the Andor bit, I'm one of few people who dislikes Andor. My fear is that, rather than taking the deeper storytelling of Andor and actually adapting it to fit in with what Star Wars is at its core, they'll take the elements of Andor I hate like its general hopelessness and how characters all hate each other, and just make it the face of Star Wars. Disney doesn't get Star Wars. They have no understanding of why Star Wars was popular, and they don't understand why Star Wars isn't popular now. Only Disney could take a cow that you can milk for solid gold bars, and turn into a quarter machine in less than decade.

I thought S2 had ended on a good note and was excited where they were going to take the characters but when they showed up again in BoBF and basically undid all of that, well I was no longer invested. It also didn't take long for me to realize it was a bait and switch and the "Mandalorian" was Bo-Katan and she was taking over now. This isn't even taking into account the Gina Carano stuff, the trash fire that was Kenobi, and all the other stuff Lucasfilm/Disney managed to screw up since Season 2. And disclaimer: I like Bo-Katan, but this isn't her show. Nor should it have been about her uniting the Mandalorians that should've been Din's final arc. From lone wolf, to caretaker, to leader. Season 1 and 2 were actually good, so it's really strange to see people say that season 3 showed them that the show wasn't good in the first place. Like, no, season 1 and 2 were coherent. If a storyline was started, it was taken to conclusion. They had character development (S1: from ruthless bounty hunter who sells a baby to the Empire to compassionate protector, S2: from helmet cult fanatic to someone who removes his helmet in order to connect with Grogu). They had well-written and likeable side characters. Characters' actions had consequences (Din winning the darksaber meant Bo-Katan couldn't have it, the helmet cult didn't make special exceptions for Mary Sues, giving up Grogu meant not having Grogu, capturing Moff Gideon meant he would actually be in New Republic custody, etc). In my mind, it's fairly obvious that corporate goons kept interfering to the point where Favreau understandably stopped giving a shit about the garbage they were forcing him to create. The executives think that reuniting Din and Grogu will help sell toys or that firing Gina Carano will protect their brand image, but they fail to understand that their meddling fucks up the art so badly that they will probably make less money in the long run. These people seem to literally do more harm than good, and the only reason they dig into wokism is that it makes them impossible for their harebrained masters to fire.

When we talk about "The way" we are talking about the "way of the Manda 'lor". The problem I see is they don't tell us which Manda'lor are the following. If we are talking about "Manda'lor Tarre Vizsla", then Din Djarn should know what the Darksaber is. Now we know this is a tv show, so someone has to fill in the audience on what the darksaber is. But they could of found a better way to do it. It could also be Manda'lor the Great but no one has told us which "Manda'lor way" do they follow. What we do know is that they have to 1. Were Beskar armor 2. Do not have weapons made out of Beskar. Which is why the armorer melted the beskar spear down into chainmail armor for Grogo. 3. Must always were their helmet (change at the end of season 3) 4. foundling must be protected when under your care, even if it is your enemy. Why Din Djarn given Grogo to the Jedi, a group of people once at war with the Mandalorians, is "the way".

Mando without his armor after becoming an apostate would have been such an interesting arc the season could have explored. The last time he had no armor at all I think was when he was a child and his people were being slaughtered. To see him back to having no armor, having nothing, we could see him as his most vulnerable. We could see him explore and struggle with his relationship with his religion and his people. He's spent his entire life following the way, but now what can he do without his religion there for him to fall back to? I really need to start up my own channel, because while you and Master Samwise have pointed out plenty of inconsistencies and stupidity in this show, there is still sooo much more to point out! My favorite is how in the penultimate episode Mando gets separated by blast doors, the Mandos do NOTHING while watching, start to SHOOT at the blast doors, while using the darthsabre to escape in the other direction, instead of cutting through the FRONT blast door. Then, Gideon orders his minions them to raise the blast door, the thing protecting them from the barrage of fire that is completely invalidated by said blast doors. The 15+ Mandos keep escaping instead of helping Minigunguy, he cuts himself off for NO REASIN, while keeping up the pounding of DOZENS of Beskartroopers. He won, imagine what he could have achieved if Bo stayed with him, yet alone all 15 Mandos in that room ("Mandalorians stay together" no, apparently they don't). Or how they emptied their whole star cruiser for no apparent reason. EVERYONE besides ONE GUY left that ship, WHY!? And him needing to kamikaze it into the facility where the main characters already are, potentially killing them... They have honestly stopped trying so hard, it is just a comedic show now and they are trying to tell us that by just dialing the ridiculousness and stupidity up to 11. This is underlined by the last shot where they did - i kid you not - a FRIGGIN LONEY TOONES "That's all, folks!" outro. It is just incredible. Talk about suspension of disbelief, i couldn't believe 1/10th of this BS if i had all the drugs of the world in my bloodstream. Just wow.

The most important thing about how Bo accepts the Dark Saber is that nobody but herself, Din and Grogu were a witness to that event, so the other Mandos don't even have credible proof that what Din says happened happened! Episode 6 was a real kick in the bollocks because it had *SO* Much potential. A hedonistic hyper rich society that's walled itself off from the rest of the universe to live a hyper libertarian dream, where (supposedly) unthinking automatons carry out the whims of the decadent are now faltering and generations of laziness means no one is physically able of understanding what to do. It's a brilliant sci-fi concept that could've been fleshed out so much; perhaps a Droids Rights group is sabotaging them, maybe old CIS protocols were accidentally activated and they've gone kill crazy, or hell maybe the droids are simply serving the whims of the upper classes and thousands of once employed lower class works now rot in an undercity attempting to seize control with the help of the Mandalorian mercs. There is so much that could be done, but instead we get boring cartoon hijinks with stiff cardboard characters and FUCKING Lizzo of all people, it was yet another cool idea that was shit on because Disney still thinks star wars is a film series for 12 year olds. Can't wait to not watch Season 4 and Ahsoka which will continue to fuck up badly.

14:50 nailed it, I was so hoping that would be the direction they'd take, especially when they seemingly set that up when he first meets Bo in season 2. I even thought the idea of Bo Katan or the Mandalorian creating a new Mandalorian culture was being foreshadowed in episode 1 with the kid who's ceremony gets interrupted, he doesn't speak the whole creed, specifically the part that the Mandalorian disobeyed, which would've been a great bit of foreshadowing if the season ended with a similar scenario but for the new culture. Had the writers focused on the differing Mandalorian cultures by having them meet earlier on, really flesh out their beliefs and show why each side sees value in them could've easily been compelling, especially if the Mandalorian maybe saw the flaws in his own beliefs and there was the threat of a civil war breaking out any second. On top of the terrible execution where the pacing dragged only to then rush to the finish line at the last two episodes, the whole premise of reclaiming Mandalore even prior to the season's release didn't interest me, and the show gave me no reason to care about Mando's redemption, his cult, Bo Katan's people, or Mandalore as a planet, none of it interested me before this season and I cared even less after it. Not to mention after waiting three seasons for Moff Gideon to get some degree of actual characterization beyond Giancarlo Esposito's performance, or to get some clue into his grand plan as to why he wanted Grogu it came down to 'I'll just spill my guts about the generic plan I had okay I'm dead now maybe bye!' Only thing I'll give this season is that pirate king was a neat design, that and Skinny Pete showing up were the only things that got any degree of a reaction out of me.

Filoni actually explained the "This is the way," thing. That's actually a meta reference to Lucas's view on the difference between the Jedi and the Sith. Basically, the power of the Force and the power of Mandalorians are both corrupting, and it takes an extreme amount of discipline to prevent themselves from being corrupted and giving into hedonism and vice, aka, the dark side. When you're the strongest thing in the universe, it really doesn't take much to make you evil, as we saw with Anakin, and what we repeatedly see with the Sith in general. Like, in Star Wars you repeatedly see motivations as simple as "That's a cool toy, I want it," lead to "This entire planet was destroyed, my family is dead, and I didn't get my toy." That's why the cultlike behaviour of Mandalorians is treated as a good thing by Filoni. Showing affection for each other, among other things, is what led to the rise of the Empire and the destruction of the Mandalorians. Din's affection for the IG-11 led to bad things happening, for instance, and I think that showing the virtues found in the extremes of the cult was the point of this season. Not saying it's right or wrong or even good storytelling, but, that's why Filoni made those choices. The problem was that it couldn't be the story they told as long as Disney was forcing them to have Grogu in the series and for Din to love him because it's good for toy sales which, ironically, led to decreased toy sales to the point where a major retailer sent a letter to Disney telling them that they fumbled season 3 of The Mandalorian, which led to the sales of Star Wars merchandise in general tanking.

Ok but what are things the mandalorian considered evil? It’s not wanton violence we know this since in the forge where mando baptized himself, there were depictions of wars even amongst themselves. And his cult glorifies those people to the point their armor is their face. It’s not affection to other beings, we see this when Luke offer baby Yoda the light saber or the chain mail. Implying the Jedi shed away their attachment, but choosing the mail he’s choosing to return to his adoptive mandalorian father. And if you think this part is head canon, then the armorer just straight up let Din adopt baby Yoda and take him wherever, instead of training him in the cave like the other foundlings. A cult against attachment wouldn’t let you form a bond that easily. So is the sin just hedonism then? Cause the show characterizes both the mandalorian factions are not below selling their allegiance for money if there isn’t a uniting leader around. So their masters can varied in their own hedonism.
@qty1315
@qty1315 Жыл бұрын
@@lynnusuk2092 It aligns with what George Lucas said that 'balance' means in the Force. The Force has a will, and it manipulates the inhabitants of the universe to do what it wants. When everything is going the way that the Force wants it to happen, that's balance and that's good. That's something that Rian Johnson misunderstood about the Force from the lore. It isn't equal parts Sith and Jedi that brings balance, because Jedi uphold the balance of the Force, while Sith work against it. That's why Palpatine specifically targeted Anakin, because he was created by the Force and given great power for the sole purpose of opposing Palpatine, so because he was the only person that could defeat Palpatine, if Palpatine went against the will of the Force by controlling Anakin he was guaranteed victory. However, his eventual defeat by Anakin was also the will of the Force, which was why there was balance when Palpatine was defeated even though (at the time) Luke was the only Jedi because that's the ideal state of balance in the Force, only Jedi, no Sith. So, yeah, the Mandalorians can kill whoever the Force tells them to, and accept money to do it, if that is the will of the Force. Sin is defined by going against the will of the Force. It's kind of like saying "Murder is bad, unless it is the will of the Force that someone gets murdered." The problem can be explained if you imagine a big company where everyone gets given $1 million, but they can only spend it on what the boss wants them to, and they will be punished if they go against the wishes of the boss. So, everyone's a millionaire, and it would be so easy to spend it all on drugs and hookers, which is why they need an extreme amount of discipline to not do that. The boss isn't heartless or completely morally upstanding, so he allows you to buy 3.5 grams of weed a week, allows you to spend money on lavish meals, but if you get a girlfriend and spend money on a date with her you've crossed a line into sin and vice.

@Qty That's... not much better. Honestly, this is one area where I think deviating from George is fine. When the message of your universe is that loving and getting attached to things is a pathway to destruction, and that immersing yourself in an anti-social cult is actually good, I think that might be a bit of an issue. I honestly think that Johnson's interpretation of the Force is so much more interesting, because it introduces an element of Grey to the "Good guys vs Bad guys," dynamic of Star Wars. That both philosophies are inherently flawed and elements from both must be embraced to achieve balance is so much more interesting than the binary conflict George insisted on.

This is more of a lore pet peeve I have, but I hate how the darksaber replaced the Mask of Mandalore as a sign of leadership. I mean I find it very weird because the Dark Saber was still the weapon of a Jedi, and its original user was a Mandalorian Jedi, which I assumed was a maverick that eventually split from the Mandalorians to be a Jedi, hence why it was at the Jedi temple before it was taken by the Visla clan. Like, how is a lightsaber supposed to be the symbol of Mandalorian rule considering how Mandalorians hate the Jedi. Plus the Mask of Mandalore is a much cooler artifact.

this season is really good when it isn’t forcibly speedrunning Rangers of the New Republic so hard that it’s first two episodes had to get pushed into another show that came out over a year before itself. 6/10; you can _hear_ Faverau’s annoyance with the plot elements he had to work with if you listen close enough. I’m definitely interested in Season 4 though, since if nothing else the finale of what I’m gonna call the “Imperial Remnant Arc” set up a return to form that isn’t as likely to be meddled with by the studio, directly or otherwise, because BOBF and Mando S3 both clearly suffered from the story they were trying to tell being impacted by the Gina Carino Incident™️ and at least the latter is freer from having to deal with that happening in the future. Especially glad that Grogu is actually going to have a place in the show again, too, since it’s PAINFULLY obvious that nobody on the writing team intended for him to be here. Similar issues with TROS happening here overall, although on a smaller scale - studio demands and previous content (or lack thereof) creating unrealistic standards setting up a new entry for partial failure at best. Recovery is definitely possible, but we’ll have to wait and see.

Speaking of Bo Katan, one of the more interesting things you can do if you return to the classic Star Wars Era post-Prequels and post-TCW is that you can sensibly reflect on the Clone Wars from the POV of the fight against the Empire. The OC couldn‘t have done this since nobody knew what the Clone Wars actually were, and this pretty much goes for Legends as well. But now with a whole, well-established and well-remembered canon regarding the Republic, Clone Wars and Order 66. And now you have characters that actually fought for the Republic and the CIS and the Rebellion can feasibly bring some of these people together. And of course the Rebellion itself inevitably brings new people to the fight that weren‘t in the Clone Wars at all and don‘t care about it. With these three groups alone you could do so much. Maybe there are even people who consciously rejected taking sides at the time and aren now vindicated. I cannot stress enough how interesting it would have been for a Star Wars story to really get into this. It‘s something we could have learned something from. 90% of wars in the real world are exactly like the Clone Wars, where it arguably would have been better not to take sides at all, and most people never get to reflect on that. George Lucas was actually kind of brilliant to create a conflict like that.
