Yamaha R1 2000 Tuning and Carb Service

In my effort to let people know that keeping a super or sports bike is not a tough challenge. Basic maintenance is good enough to keep your sports/super sports/heavy bike in running condition. In this video, Ali bhai is tuning Yamaha R1 2000 model with compelte carb service. This bike had serious over and missing issue and after service, its starting in first self with smooth throttle and idle speed.

Why do you think the rubber apron thing has 4 plug cap sized holes and a throttle cable sized slit? It is supposed to sit UNDER the coil plate and both should be fastened to the frame. Please keep away from my R1.

I agree. Most mechanics there are not fully trained/educated. They just use their experience with low end bikes and try to use same methods on high end machines which is unfortunate for owners.

Hi Faizan. R1 is notoriously famous for overheating issue. In summer it can get really hot.

Probably could be jet pin. They usually wear out. It might be sync issue as well.

Sir, My bike is Zx600D Kawasaki 1992 model It's one and fourth carburetor's vacuum diaphragm slider is not lifting up while accelerating. Also when idling it sound like two cylinder bikes but while accelerating it sound like inline four cylinder bikes. Other two carburetor's are working fine. Please help to solve the issue Thanks

Hi Rajit. it sounds like your carbs are done or probably need vaccum testing. If you can manage to pull your gas tank and send the picture of throttle, that would be helpful..

Thanks for your Reply. Yes we had checked the vacuum on the off working cylinders and found that no suction so we had taken out the head and found that the all valves are bad😔

Yes he is. In a third world country like Pakistan, you cant find expertise and skills to get your sports bike tuned up and repaired as per the manufacturer specs. Very few mechanics with their self learned skills and outdated tools still fixing those bikes running on the road. They are highly under rated and under paid for what they do.
