Hey Willow Just wanted to say thanks for making the effort of recording all of this and posting it to youtube I‘ve managed to do it myself with no previous mechanical experience on motorcycles, & even found that three out of four membranes in the carb were torn which is why the bike wouldn‘t run well. Now all I have to do is figure out why the bike won‘t run in idle unless I turn the rpm‘s all the way up, it only idles at 4k rpm for some reason But anyways, thanks a lot again!
@WillowsWorldofDIYАй бұрын
@@user-il2gl6se3o if the engine is having a hard time below 5,000 RPM it’s probably clogged pilot jets or the carburetors aren’t synchronized. I would make sure that all the little holes on the pilot jets are cleaned. Synchronizing the carburetors will smooth out a rough idle. I have a video on how to synchronize the carburetors if you don’t know how to. I hope this is helpful. Thanks for watching and commenting.

Nice video. Two things I would suggest that helps with the reinstall. Just take off the nut for the throttle cable bracket(which is also part of the bolt that holds the carbs together), that way you don't have to screw around with the cables afterward. on the 99 I found turning the three bottom clamps around 180 and flipping them so all four 3mm allen bolts are facing the back is easier to access them, especially if you have a longer ridgid allen key. It doesn't have the heating/coolant hoses in the way like the 2000 and up does.

The flasher relay is located under the driver's seat on the right hand side near the right hand seat mounting bolt. the relay has an electrical connection and you will need to unplug it and plug in the new relay. It's really easy to replace the flasher relay and it only takes about 5 minutes. Are the clamp bolts that hold the carb on tamper proof? I can't seem to get my allen key to go in and I don't have depth perception rip
@WillowsWorldofDIY2 жыл бұрын
No, they are normal Allen bolts but you have to have the Allen wrench in the right spot and at the right angle. This step is going to be difficult without depth perception. I try to keep the back end of the Allen wrench against the plastic heat shield while i'm trying to line up the other end of the Allen wrench with the clamp bolt. When I have it lined up I slowly lift the back end of the Allen off the heat shielding till it lines up and inserts into the bolt. I hope this method helps. Thanks for watching!

@WillowsWorldofDIY3 жыл бұрын
I wouldn't store the fuel tank upside down with fuel in it. The fill cap doesn't completely seal because it needs to vent to allow air to get in as the fuel is getting used and to keep pressure from building up inside the tank.
