Alas what a great actor! In my childhood, I had seen do ustaad, acting of sheikhji was very outstanding, before him, even hero Raj Kapoor's adakari was pheeka pad gaya Tha!! One more movie hum sab ustad hain was also fine, I was wondering why sheikhji migrated to Pakistan in his old age!!! Now by going through Tabassum aapa's biography of sheikhji, my doubt got cleared!!!! What a great loss, I had seen jahaanara but not noorjehaan, whatever may be, it was a bad luck that we did not recognized his great contribution to film field. Thanks Tabassum Aapa for upload

Apart from" Do Ustad" with Raj kapoor, I had the opportunity to see Shaikh Mukhtar's two other films, Mangu and Mr.Lambu .Although commercial type with lot of fighting scenes, we enjoyed those films which suited our boyhood days.

The negatives of films Mangu and Mr. Lambu produced by late Sheikh Mukhtar are still in Pakistan. These films have hit songs by O.P. Nayyar Sahib. These films are rich legacy of Indian Film Industry. A concerted effort must be made to release DVDs of these films. Thanks to Madam Tabbasum for this episode. Apart from Do Ustad, she could have mentioned highly successful film Changez Khan starring Sheikh Mukhtar in the title role along with Prem Nath and Bina Roy.

I personally met n shook hands with Mukhtar sahab in the sixties when he had visited a theatre popularly known as Sudershan Cinema in Delhi, during the release of his film Ustadon ka Ustad. Found in him a tall, well built , sweet, courteous n thorough gentleman. I even asked him as to what his next movie would be n he replied very courteously without any attitude. ‘Nurjahan’ . Even gave me his autograph on a piece of paper which I unfortunately lost. Still remember his gentlemanliness n towering personality

His"Birju" of Mehboob Saheb's"Aurat" n the same role being done by Sunil Dutt,in its remake,"Mother India"(1957) did show the difference clearly..Sad enough,that the film world,failed to honour him with any of its covetable rewards..
