Sheila Johnson’s statement was based on Clark’s race, envy of her fan following and popularity, her refusal to stoop the level of the players who show their pettiness through excessive physical play and idiotic comments, and failure to acknowledge her phenomenal rookie season. The things her comments did not reflect were intelligence or integrity to speak the truth. Oh well, WNBA media prepared most people to be accustomed to this kind of dishonest discourse by now!

*BET didn’t start with ratchet and disrespectful content!* BET had news programs, debate shows, a teenage game show similar to Jeopardy for kids to learn etc. Bob Johnson sold BET I believe in 2001 because he wanted to start an all black Airline base in DC. He sold BET for around 3 Billion but most of that was stock options and he would remain on the Board at BET! Once Viacom which also owned MTV purchased BET they were the one’s who started with the stereotypical shows and misrepresentation of black people! They removed the debate shows, the educational game shows and strictly focused on video countdown type programs like *106&Park and Rap City* Bob Johnson was furious about the change because upon sell Viacom promised him on a (Gentlemen’s Handshake) that they would keep the formats and shows together! Lesson here is; you don’t sell your vision or creation to someone who couldn’t care less about the culture or the people! A lot of people including myself were very upset with Bob Johnson for selling BET! Ironically his wife Sheila Johnson divorced him a year later and essentially took half his fortune and he didn’t pursue the all Black Airline also Chuck Schumer block the deal for whatever reason!

I have Sheila's book, Walk Through Fire, which came out last year .....Great book.....Sheila has admitted that when she was offered the Mystics, the first thing she realized was that the team wasn't profitable but she brought the team anyway. Not many people during that time would have wasted their money on a WNBA team but she did, so I am going to have to give her some credit. Because her buying the Mystics back then helped keep the WNBA alive. So yes, I think she have a right to speak her mind whether people agree with her or not.

Does she look at the team like a charity case? They won the title in 2019 yet they're still playing in one of the smallest arenas in the league. Much like the Sun owners who also saved a franchise that was going to fold, will she be willing to invest to enhance the team?

I like you take on this and other pieces , its why i have decided to subscribe to your channel. Where I'm from it was for a long time hard for women's sport to be recognized. Especially rugby and rugby sevens. Yet the women here did better in like world cups and such than the men in thoses sports. Then we had the women's world cup held here in New Zealand and Australia. The games were brilliant and it really helped those sports exploded to now being a regular watch. And its great. This has been my first time watching basketball, yes i first watched paige , then watch others and followed Caitlin to the wnba. She introduced me to other players, Natasha Cloud, Satou Sabally, Arike Ogunbowale, among others. It her game that i like. Had she played in the Olympics i think the wnba would have enjoyed an even better reach , like the rugby world cup did here for women's rugby. The article i feel was good because it gave an insight to Caitlin and her thoughts. But this divisive rhetoric by some people is simply jealousy . I will celebrate her achievements and look forward to the new season and learn even more and enjoy the games to come.

Only someone who didn’t earn her fortune on her own would complain and hate on a player that was responsible directly for 25 freaking % of the league revenue. No player has had the financial impact on a sport since tiger woods. She mentioned Angel Reese but lady Reese is not even selling out her own gym consistently. Clark sold out the mystics twice in an arena four times the normal one. Yes AR IS part of the growth..no doubt but not 25%. Unfortunately Sheila like many of these black women haters are projecting their own lack of recognition on Clark who had nothing to do with it.

Regardless of her comments about white privilege, Caitlin Clark remains an exceptional basketball player. For her fans, it's important to recognize that she is only 22 years old, and has a good head on her shoulders, but lacks experience in current events such as politics or race. She is still learning so let's give her a break if you are truly a fan of Caitlin Clark! If you're a troll, continue on for those clicks, but do not claim to be a fan of Caitlin Clark. Your behavior is disingenuous and misleading at best. They criticized her based on comments unrelated to her basketball performance but rather on who you greatly admired the people she looks up to. This is why Caitlin should have refrained from discussing anything other than basketball. These so-called fans will turn on you in an instant no matter what you say or do.

The USWNT won it because they won a World Cup and put US women’s soccer back on top of the world. The media isn’t in the business of “marketing” players (that’s the player’s agent, manager and marketing team). They should be covering them more though. Time ___ of the Year is always about whatever ____ most changed something for their industry. This just happens to be her year. I don’t know why people have to be weird and suggest she should share these kinds of honors. The franchise player of every team didn’t do what Clark did this year. It doesn’t mean they aren’t getting more shine than they have in the past.

Anyone can have privilege. That’s not exclusive to color. Her privilege or advantages are the fact that’s she came from a good home. One that had two parents, faith and affluence. That helped her to afford tools that helped her to become the athlete that she is today. Coaches, training facilities etc…. But privilege doesn’t give you talent, that is purely her own and her accomplishments are her own. Another example of real privilege is Brony James and he’s black. His dad’s fame and connections got him a spot of the Lakers that he really wasn’t ready for.
