The only car I've ever regretted selling was my GT350. That was the best enthusiast car for the money by an unfathomable amount. Not just the engine, but the transmission, the clutch, the suspension tuning... it was Porsche level, but with an engine note to rival the v10s.
@Lawlsforlawls9 күн бұрын

@lealandyoung9 күн бұрын
Truth! The GT350 was an incedible deal for what you got then Ford got greedy when they realized they could turn out parts bin cars and rake in even more cash so here we are in 2025 and a well equipped Mustang Dark Horse Premium with handling package (spiritual successor to the GT350 with tech pack.. kinda...) and its 81k and if somebody clicks off all the boxes (autotragic, painted stripes, matte film, CF wheels) it can go as high as 93k and while the DH-HP with CF wheels would likely post a better lap time compared to the GT350 it just doesn't feel as special and the added weight of the S650 platform makes the car feel like its really working hard to get those numbers.

Same is true for American Muscle Cars vs more refined German etc. Cars. Yeah i love driving a BMW M5 from 2007 or whenever for 10 Hours on the Autobahn, but is it gonna be as fun and exhilarating as a Shelby Mustang, Dodge Viper, Corvette ZR1 or whatever? There was massive jump over from 2nd to 3rd in Shelby so it had no chance considering Shelby is NA and Bimmer has turbocharged engine
@xIcarus22710 күн бұрын
That's correct, these NA engines need 8-10 speed automatics to stay as close to the max power as possible. A long-geared manual such as this one will severely hamper their acceleration. It's the main reason the auto Mustang GT is so much faster in a straight line than the manual one.
@grp5ltdot202410 күн бұрын
@@xIcarus227 nah, normal auto even with better gear ratios is not faster, only 8hp and dct
@xIcarus22710 күн бұрын
@@grp5ltdot2024 this isn't true, the auto Mustang GT does 0-100kph in 5 seconds while the manual does about 5.34 according to the review Driving Enthusiast did recently. Feel free to look it up. The quarter mile time difference will be even worse, the same guy shows the manual GT at 13.64, and while he didn't do a quarter mile for the auto, fastestlaps shows a time of 12.8. That's a massive difference, don't underestimate how much gearing matters in these cars.

GT350' are notoriously known for bogging at the start (especially with stock LC) because of lack of low end torque, which is provided by that high revving N/A 5.2 Voodoo engine. You have to be meticulously perfect with right amount of revs and clutch dumping for good start. Third drag race shows that with proper training Sam could've show great result without factory LC. Also you HAVE to power (no lift) shift through gears to keep that high revving (8.250 rpm) engine in it's powerband. Anyway, that is beautiful track "muscle"/"pony" car ❤

Look at the sheer size of those rotors & brake pads. But in general, yes, you will stop in a shorter distance with larger rotors and bigger pads. The difference however, can be relative. The key difference comes in how quickly a system can reach the clamping pressure necessary to lock the wheels/tires. Then timing & skill. The anti-locking system does all the grunt work.

It’s way faster, far more refined, gets way better fuel mileage, handles amazing for a daily , has tons of balance in the back for the kids and so much more like the obvious build quality and engineering.
