My heart horse is definitely not particularly likable, but she is my definition of perfect. She was my "Black Stallion" moment, as cliché as it sounds. I'm the only person that likes her (legitimately not an exaggeration), and I'm her favorite person (she likes my mom okay, too, because she gave her a lot of cookies). She's a nightmare and a half, and I love her to death ❤️ Her name is Dancer.

This one totally made me cry. Having your heart horse is the most incredible feeling on earth. I had mine once, but his owner sold him and there is truly no heartbreak like that. I don't bring it up to be negative at all, I adore seeing everyone that has bond and the tangible love you can see between horse and rider. It's the most beautiful thing on the planet to me. You and Milo's bond is so strong, you've had a journey together so far and I absolutely can't wait to see the incredible things you two do together. 💚

Omg this video made me cry. I don't own a horse but a school pony I rode called Cassie fit the description of a heart horse. She's not easy and bucked me off so much over the years and pretty much pulled off a lot of tricks on me but after working with her for a long time, she was the most amazing horse I rode. I had to leave her behind because I was moving. I miss her so much. She always tried her heart out for me and I hope I did that in return. She taught me so much about horses and riding. And when I went to the stable and saw her sweet white face, all my troubles just melted away and I knew everything was going to be okay. Great video! ^^

What beautiful words! You two are so sweet... I wish the best for you and your horses. I have an English Thoroughbred too. When I met him he was underweight (with all the health problems that this entailed) and very aggressive to other horses and people... no one was walking near him or touching him...but under that heap of fur and bones I saw a tender heart...I fell in love with him...and I finally bought him and tried give him a second chance! He was so similar to the young Milo... he has a really strong personality and he was hyperactive all the time... he is more calm now, but I still have some difficulty to keep him under control. I love him with every fiber of my being and I will not give up on him. I can put him in the paddock with other horses now.. and everybody can touch him because he became the sweet boy than no one trusted he would become. Whatching your videos helps me to find the force to keep going and working with him. Thank you Shelby...

A 31 y/o paint gelding named Sherwin is my heart horse. He lives at Creekside Stables here in Frederick Maryland, and I have had the joy of riding him after 21+ years of on and off. He has cushing's disease, and he can't be ridden anymore due to a sway back, but I still love him to death. Thank you for this inspirational video! Keep doing what you do.

I did cry. Because I had a heart horse. A little POA mare who I couldn't even ride for the longest time. She took so long to train, so long to deal with, but in turn made me an amazing rider. Her bucks, rears spooks and everything made me what I am. Thank you for making this video. It is beautiful.

Well. I cried. I recently bought my first horse after being told he was beginner broke. He definitely wasn’t, and still isn’t. I thought about selling him, trading him for a different horse, or just giving up on my dreams of becoming a rider. But we have a bond that I can’t explain. He’s taught me how to be more assertive, patient and understanding. The first time I ever got on him, I was terrified. But we’re slowly working together. The process is long and difficult but it’s so worth it. Thank you so much for this video. ❤️

I don’t have a horse on my own, but there’s one pony by my riding school who’s my absolute favorite. She may not be the prettiest on the outside, but the inside is more worth than gold. I really feel like we understand each other and we have a bond. She’s just my everything and love her with all my heart. People always make fun of how she looks or how slow she is, but that doesn’t matter to me. Her love is enough for me. She’s all I need and always makes me happy. Yeah, of course she can be a little witch sometimes, but every horse got their off-day. People will never understand how much I love her. I’m glad about that though, otherwise someone else would love her as much as I do and I would lose her. She’s my absolute everything. I would never wanna lose her and nothing can let me change my mind.❤️

“This horse will teach you how to be a better horse person, and in turn you'll teach them how to be a better horse.” Sooooooooo true, I can testify to that. If not for the horse of my dreams, ( I literally I dreampt about her before I found her), who was so troubled and difficult, I wouldn’t have learned so much. Now we've taken in a second complicated young horse. Because of what I learned with my first heart horse we are able to work successfully with our second heart horse. My first one is a wonderful 30 year old now, who is an excellent horse citizen, family member, and mentor to our new one.

I was terrified of my heart horse in the start I hated riding him and dreaded every lecture with him. He was difficult, tested me. But My trainer and I worked on him for 10 months ! After 3 months he loved me in the stable, he would put his heavy head on my shoulder and play with my hair. But as soon as i steppes in the saddle he would run or do tricks with me... Eventually he got better and I got better. I love him to death and will never get rid of him even though I’m starting to become to tall for him... Per I love you so much

I have a similar story but I haven't gotten to part yet where I'm able to ride him quite often. I've put about 7 rides on him. When I first got him he was 1 year and 4 months. Never been touched by a human in his life. He's my absolute heart horse ❤️ and you're right, nobody likes him. But the reason being is I've done so much bonding with him since he's been under my name that, he only trusts me. I believe that's how it should be and I can wholeheartedly say that it was meant to be.

I just got a horse who never knew what being loved felt like. Automatically I was drawn towards him, he was the opposite of what I wanted but I ended up getting him. Its been around I month and he is being very bossy, sassy and mean. He is truly a good horse and I just need him to trust me. What are some words of wisdom for building a bond with this type of horse? Thanks. Love this video, its adorable.

Horse 007 It's been 7 months since your comment, I hope all is well and your horse has become your heart horse!! 💜 my first heart horse had been horribly abused before I got him, a lot of patience, kindness, learning to trust each other and Love is what worked for us. I am so lucky to have a heart/soul horse now again so many years after Bo, my first 💜 horse, passed away. Sammy is an OTTB who was treated horrible after being injured on the track & ending up at a slaughter auction, it's been 8yrs & our bond is beyond words. At first it took patience, kindness & Love a lot of ground work helped us tremendously!! 💕💕

I I rode horses at fairs, and I had a few riding lessons. But the horse I remember most is a horse named Toby. He was patient, so sweet. I think he was a pony, I was four years old in Zephr Hills. Until one day the lessons where too expensive, but I remember my dads former backyard had the same barns backyard behind it. I think he may have been my heart horse, but I'm not sure. I don't have a horse, but I have 2 dogs and 3 cats and god do I love them to death

Your so right! The most ppl think it heart horse has to be always nice and easy but if you have this horse in ur heart it won't ever go. Though sometimes it's maybe not the most likable or the most beautiful or nice or whatever u love it just the way it is just exactly what u needed. This is what I just realised some months ago i got my horse 4 months ago naturally first I thought I wanted her but there were though in just 4 months days where I thought should I give her away bc she was first rlly hard and it was hard for her to trust and she is sooo complicated with other horses but I rlly realised she gives me so much love even sometimes she is hard I luv her and she is my heart horse. ❤

This is beautiful and amazing. I never truly knew what a heart horse meant until just recently, and I think I've found mine. He's this huge flea bitten grey at my riding school, which has over two-hundred horses and as such they aren't looked after as well as they could be. He misbehaves quite a bit, is difficult on a lead and doesn't have the nicest looks, but to me he's the most gorgeous horse I've ever seen. I'm scared that he'll be sold from the riding school one day, and I won't be able to ride him.

To me the definition of heart horse is a horse that brings the real you out of that hard shell that hides your true self and no one should EVER have to hide their real selves because they think they will be judged in many ways. When I'm around horses I feel like I've become different in a way. They bring out hope in you that one day you won't have to hide or frustrate yourself because of others. Just be who you are no matter what happens.

I've had some heart horses already. One of them was a chestnut mare who knew her job as a school horse really well and, while she was probably one of the safest horses I've ever seen, she was also the type to pick her riders. Her very stubborn nature completely overshadowed her qualities, and the riders often lost patience with her and didn't treat her well because of that. I started riding her right after I had lost my godfather's mare in a violent accident, and she helped me a lot, we developped one of the strongest bonds I've ever had with a horse. She was always so quiet and gentle (though very aloof with riders she didn't like), and I always took great care of her. She definitely picked up on that, and I ended up being one of the only riders at the school who could do absolutely anything with her, without having to put her in place or anything. She's never been stubborn with me, on the contrary, she was exceptional and one of the most generous horses I've ever met. A gem most riders refused to see. Her name was Brise (full name Brise d'un Soir, French for "Evening Breeze"). A fitting name imo. Another horse like that was an Apaloosa who was a rescue horse - he'd literally been abandoned in a ditch. He was one of the most enjoyable horses I ever rode, and was overall lovely. His charisma and kindness could be felt even by non-riders, and it was always fun to go on a hack with him because he'd always become the local star, with his appearance and gentle nature. He wasn't the easiest horse to ride though. He was fast, and used his speed to either go "look I'm working" (no, he wasn't) or "nah I won't work today" (cue lower level riders getting scared). Despite his sweet temper and his "easy to ride" vibe, he wasn't really made for lower levels imo, and really shone with higher levels who knew when he was being a brat and could handle him properly. He could do _everything._ Endurance riding, dressage (oh he was so flexible and responsive. Once he was properly round, he was so smooth. The difficult part was to keep my arms and back as flexible as possible - the "marshmallow position" as I called it - else he'd block his neck and it would become impossible to work. He was sensitive like that), jumping (I'd always watch for his "nah I ain't jumping" attempt to not get thrown off (because he was then impossible to catch lol he was a bit of a troll while jumping), and once he'd have tried and failed, everything would go very smoothly, he'd jump anything). The only time when I fell from him, it actually saved me because I passed out from the heat two/three steps away from an obstacle, and since he needed his rider to be fully present else he'd just avoid the jump. Which he did since I passed out, but it made me avoid actually falling on the obstacle and no harm was done. The only difficult thing with him was playing horseball, because he was scared of the ball. But he was awesome and I'd really like to own a horse like him one day. A funny and gentle horse with whom I can have a lot of quality time. His name was Eole, like the Greek god of wind, also a fitting name.

I will honestly say that I cried because as soon as you started explaining a heart horse my head and heart went straight to my first horse, a 4 year old appendix gelding. Even though he wasn't fully trained the first time I got on him I loved him. After awhile he started getting bored in my round pen and started bucking. After falling off a few time my parents sent him to a trainer think it was good idea. This guy kept him in a pasture by himself. And my horse later after two weeks by himself tried to jump a fence and passed away. I wish I had learned to stay on during a buck instead of falling off. I would do anything to get him back even if it came down to always getting bucked off because I would eventually learn. The worst thing about it is the fact that after my horse passed away the guy tried to sell my dad and I another horse for over $3000 to help make us feel better only to find out later that he is really abusive to some of the horses he trains.

I did a horse camp (dont own my own horse but have ridden for a long time a bunch of horses) and this horse - Woods, I LOVED HIM / LOVE him. He would put himself through pain so I was more comfortable, going down hills and stuff, and his canter was lovly to sit even though everyone said it was so awkward and bad

My heart horse is a grade quarter horse mare I named Mocha ☕ She came to us in 2016 as a green horse who was mainly just a pasture pet. And in the first two years I had her, there wasn't a connection of any kind. I loved her, but I never considered her my heart horse. When 2018 rolled around and I needed her for equestrian drill, something clicked. Since then, we grew as a team and have come so far. She taught me so much in so little time and it makes me so proud to call her my little MochaMoo ❤ She came from a friend and was this random horse. One that no one would really care for. But when she came to us, she was given a purpose. She became a happy horse with a silly personality. We share doughnuts with each other, cuddle with each other, and accomplish so many goals together. She may not be the perfect horse. She is sassy, throws fits, she is mean to horses, she is SUPER hard to ride, ect, but I wouldn't trade her for the world!

What you think your heart horse will be : Expensive, great muscle and topline, clean all the time, absolute darling to handle. What they end up being : cheap, dangerous, annoying, but fucking amazing.
