If you poke a hole in the paw of the bear that's up, when the clay is still fresh you could use them as a incense holder or a flower holder. I really dig your videos they are always a highlight of my day. 🧸

Another video that allows your enthusiasm to shine through. The motif bears echo the design with out copying the trademark. Your colors and flowers match well and the sets are so adorable. No honey needed since you changed the illustration on the pots. Cheers Shelby💜.

What a fabulous fusion between your native flora art and the carebear concept. Absolutely adorable and beautiful.

I love this idea! The flowers make it seem like the honey is made with the pollen of the flowers featured on each pot/bear, which isn’t uncommon for honey since some producers will put the bees in specific places so that the honey will have a particular scent, like eucalyptus, a local flower, wildflowers, aromatic plants, etc. Like others suggested, I’d make an incense holder with this one, even combining it with the idea of the previous incense holders you made. The hands could hold sticks, and you could make a hole in the back of the bear for the cones, so it works for both types of incense.

These are absolutely delightful! I love your choice to add native flowers for the bellies - it definitely makes it feel like you rather than just a care bear copy!

That was a really lovely story that you told about being a child and remionising about your grandmother. My family scattered our grandmothers ashes today, and hearing your story helped bring back a whole bunch on memories that were laying dormant for a long time. It was really nice to have those memories come flooding back because of the things you said. Thank you for telling your story and bringing back so many good times that I had when I was a kid.

This was so zen to watch. Love hearing the story about your Nanna. I too wish I could go back and spend time with my grandparents. I loved spending time with them, but I want to appreciate it more for how short the time was. When you're little, you don't appreciate the transience of time, and how it limits these opportunities....

Ok, so now that I'm seeing the final results, I was absolutely right. These aren't only amazing, they're by far my favourite thing I've seen you make. Leagues and leagues above everything else, and I already really loved your work. I think it's amazing and SO inspiring that you did native flora that I want to draw Care Bears with my country's native flora and some fauna. I live in Canada, and most of all, despite orange being my least favourite colour, I want to make a monarch butterfly themed Care Bear! Edit: OOOH! And my province's flower, a trillium care bear would be beautiful! I would make it an all white bear, but have the fur just a slightly different shade of white. For example, I would shade the stomach with a very light yellow, but make the fur shading a light blue. Then put the beautiful trillium in the center. Oh man I want to do this so badly now!
@hannahs11192 жыл бұрын
Shelby these are so cute! Once you said your concept I was super tempted to skip to the end to see the end result (I love watching the whole process I'm just impatient).

At first I immediately thought if Pooh the bear. The blue bear reminds me of my childhood bear. It was a giant for me when I was a toddler, so I always snuggled in his arms. It was a present from my uncle. He shot it at a booth at the local fair. So thank you for bringing back those childhood memories. I also would have expected a bee on the top of each honey pot. But they are still pretty the way you made them. Seeing you hands with the roughened skin by the clay makes me want to send you some of my home made hand cream with herbal extracts. Unfortunately the German customs regulations do not allow me to send anything of herbal origin outside of Germany.

Ooo! These look very cute. You did a good job painting them. Also, I totally get you on having to carve into a clay because it's fully cured/dried. Made that mistake while sculpting and realized I forgot to sculpt the details on one. Got to have fun doing that.
@paranoiarpincess2 жыл бұрын
If you make more of these, instead of making it honey, you could always make a floral jelly. I'm not sure if that's a real thing, but I do knownyou have musk flavoured sweets in Australia that have a kind of floral taste to them, and there are lots of rose and other flower petal delicacies available. I know people also consume lavender. So I think if you were to make a fictional jam from the flower on their tummies (like bluebell jam, just paint it a bit of a lighter blue from the one you used for the flower itself) it would tie into the theme, be relevant to the bear instead of just everyone having honey for some reason, and it would look nice because it's still part of their individual colour stories. ♡

They’re really cute with the Australian flora badges. Love the little pot. I love miniature anything. I’m hoping you find a mold for a miniature plate. They’d be either collector plates or butter pat plates. By the bye, a group of bears is called a sleuth or a sloth. Polar bear groups are celebrations. My daughter was in college during the Care Bear era, so I’m glad to read the comments for context. A sloth of Care Bears? I looked up Grevillea which didn’t take long tho I misspelled it. Gorgeous with the exotic look of Australia. It would be really terrific if you could show us the actual blooms. Someday. I ❤️ 💐.

I had a large number of these ceramic statues, or they were in my family (the mushroom salt and pepper shakers). Theselittle bears had the pots on top of their leg with the up arm near the lid. You would have to slip and score it prior to firing to make it this way. I love these native bears and flower pots.

I love this video so much. I'm not only a massive retrophile, I was born in the early 90s so I saw all the Care Bear shows, along with My Little Pony, and Rainbow Brite. I have a bit of an obsession with nostalgia so I actually collect toys from these franchises to this day! I actually have both old and more recent items from all three franchises as we speak. Another reason I absolutely LOVE this video is because you talking about going to your grandmother's house sparked a memory I randomly am hit with sometimes, that I hadn't been in a few years now. Another massive franchise when I was little was the Disney babies series. It was baby versions of Mickey, Minnie, and all of their friends. I wasn't the biggest fan of the Disney mascot characters, not like I was of the aforementioned big 3, but I did love the baby series decently well. I remember I had a small child puzzle (not the wooden ones, but the ones with the massive cardboard pieces that only took around 30 to complete the image) of the Disney babies at my grandparents house and would do it over and over. I am pretty sure I did so in front of the TV. So thank you for this. ♡ I'm not even halfway through the video but I can already tell they're going to be amazing!

How absolutely adorable! A very Shelby twist in the Care Bears. I had a few Care Bear plushies as a kid. My brother has a Care Bear sleeping bag even...which, looking back on, is totally not safe. Companies & Governments didn't care as much about fire safety and flammability when we were kids. I swear just looking at it wrong will back it spontaneously combust! Also really love the sunflower mugs you had going in the kiln with the bears. Lovely!
