@Christopher Bingham Catholic*, not Christian. Catholics are not Christians. You can't be both a Christian and a Catholic. They believe in different things. A Christian believes in the Bible. A Catholic believes the priest/pope who they call "father" and confess their sins to him instead of GOD.

God is present on earth and you take for granted things you can do here because of the mercy and grace of God. But since God is not present in any way in hell, you will not take a nap, nor will you do anything like you would do on earth. Torment is all you get. You will wish to die, but you will not be allowed to die. Man, you are so screwed. Unless you make wiser choices.

You can be brought up Christian but not very religious themselves or even their entire family not being religious and more culturally Christian. Some then later in life become more religious so it is perfectly plausible for somebody to have a cross from a time before being religious.

Could be that Mary was a sweet girl when she was little and attended church and behaved, but like most kids eventually do, she turned to rebellion and exploring her wild side in her teenage years. The show mentions several times that Mary was quite an unruly teenager that was difficult to control. Could be she didn't turn back to religion until after she had children, mellowed out and reconnected with her religion to help her through it. Connie doesn't come across as particularly religious and her father was said to encourage science over religion, but it could be that one (or several) of her grandparents were religious and she took after them in her childhood years, receiving the cross from one of them. Or it's just a small plothole. If you headcanon it hard enough, it doesn't have to be a plothole because the timeline can work out, but that's up to you to decide.

This is pretty clear that Catholics aren't Christians but people will still think they are. Where does it say in the Bible that we should wear a cross necklace that "reminds us that Jesus Christ is always with us"? You need a reminder? GOD is with us. Where does it say in the Bible that we should pray to Mary? Where does it say in the Bible that we should pray to the angels and the saints? Where does it say in the Bible that Mary is the mother of God? Where does it say in the Bible that Mary was a virgin? Mary had other children after bringing Jesus Christ into this world. Where does it say in the Bible that we should treat the papa/priest like a god and call him "father"? GOD the Father, GOD the Son and GOD the Holy Spirit. Only Him. Where does it say in the Bible that we should confess out sins to the pope/priest instead of confessing your sins to GOD? Where does it say in the Bible that Jesus Christ was born on the 25th of December? Where does it say in the Bible that we should have images, statues and pictures of "Jesus Christ" and the "saints"? Exodus 20:4 - 5 actually condemns it, it is one of the 10 commandments. But Catholics still do it. 4 Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, *or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above* , or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth: 5 *Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them* : for I the LORD they God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me; You are either a Christian or a Catholic. You can't be both. And no, Catholics weren't the first Christians. The first Christians are in the Bible. Acts 11:26c And the disciples were called Christians first in Antioch.
