For 30 years, I sought the truth. I read my bible, I prayed, I asked leaders for insight, I believed fervently. in all those years, I never felt like I was finding anything, just searching. Then I deconstructed my faith, found out it was nonsense, and now I'm atheist. In my search for truth, I found it, and it set me free.

CHORUS So you think that you Can tell us how to live our lives Never questioning the source from which your moral code derives You think that suffering is part of some great plan that's been devised I wonder, I wonder, I wonder, I wonder What will it take for you To start opening your eyes To start questioning the bullshit everyone around you buys You think it's any of your business what goes on between my thighs? They picked the tamest part of this song for the atheist experience. I love this song so much. Your voice is beautiful, and your lyrics are so rational and heartfelt. Thank you for singing truth to the world.

As a regular listener of the Atheist Experience, I have to say there could not be a better song for it. Your voice, the lyrics, the way it resonates so clearly. I hate to say it, but just sitting here, listening to your song in its entirety is almost like a religious experience. I know that's just our natural response, as a social species. I guess what I'm trying to say is thank you for sharing this with us, your fellow human beings. Much love.

No; a better song for 'The A-the-ass Excretions' would be '|_oser' by Beck. And, 'What What (in the "But")' by Sam-well. 😏

@@johnharrison6745 , thanks. But, you try to should save some of that Christ-like infinite compassion for later.

@@sirjazzaroth "Sorry"; no compassion for loudmouthed, blaspheming god-haters who think that they're *WAY* "bigger" than they actually are, and, who could use a nice, smooth river-rock buried right between their eyes. 😉

Almost? I played it so many times in a row trying to learn the melody and timing that I _almost_ can listen through the whole song without shedding a tear and I can also _almost_ sing it without breaking XD But I _will_ fucking sing it! I'm going on a holiday with my friends and they're all musicians, sooooooo I figured, since I finally got myself to do cover songs, I blow them away with this one :D If I don't break :p But it's fine if I do. I get plenty of chances to make up for it and they more than understand :D It does help to not see Shelley sing it :p That naughty radiant sun really makes it hurt more how people are (often voluntarily and often forcefully) held back by dogma to not be that shiny bright star that Shelley is.

So am I hearing that if atheists ran the world there would be no law? Because surely you wouldn’t want to tell anyone how to live their lives....it’s their life after all they only get one xddd

Hands down one of my all-time favorite moments in the DD studio. I started to tear up hearing this live for the first time. Then all of a sudden your headphones were about to fall off. I jumped up to catch them and get them back on your head and you never missed a beat. David said, "You just saved Saved." It is a silly little moment thinking back, but that was a great day. Thank you for the memory and for creating one of my favorite songs, ever. You keep rockin' girlfriend.

OMG! Whoops I didn't mean to say that, but what a poignant message, and so well composed and performed. I like this rock version best, the raw grittiness of the electric chorus line carries the rage and resentment more effectively, over being subject to other's presumption of moral superiority and attempt to regulate individuals' agency over their bodies and lives.

i used to be a catholic and I can honestly say that debating youtubers and watching episodes and clips from the atheist experience deconverted me. I am now a proud atheist and happy to be free from the madness of religion. Most evil throughout history have been in the name of god. Thank you to all the hosts, producers, etc that made this show possible. It's great listening to this show.
