So sad to have just heard of the passing of the wonderful Caroline Crawley. There will always be a walled and secret garden in my heart that is Shelleyan Orphan.

Caroline was dreamy and amazing, but I am always impressed with Jem's voice, too. I wish I could sing like that.

I saw these guys backing up the Cure back in 1989...It was during the Cure's "Prayer Tour" (promoting their newly released "Disintegration" album). I will never forget Robert Smith's humble and riveting introduction of A Shelleyan Orphan as "our personal favourite band" (right after a Shelleyan Orphan had given a dazzling opening performance. I was 24 and now at 54 I listen to both bands regularly.

Absolutely beautiful and divine. I'm so jealous of whoever lived these golden times.

I can’t believe I hadn’t fallen in love with this band sooner! I’d always heard the name but forgot to look them up. What a mistake! I’m utterly awestruck.

It was watching this clip on the Tube all those years ago that first got me interested in Shelleyan Orphan. Beautiful music, beautiful voice. So sad. Still have Helleborine on vinyl and it is much treasured.

Saw them under the arches by Charing Cross station gosh it must have been summer of '86 or '87, and then again off the Charing Cross road. They covered Taste of Honeys Booogie Oooogie Oooogie which was simply amazing.

@mpresev Beautiful. I saw them open for the Cure as well in 1989. Love and Rockets were supposed to open as well, but they didn't make it. Either way, it was a brilliant night that I will NEVER forget.

@mpresev Nitzer Ebb was the shit at the clubs back in the good ole days! I stopped after Showtime though. I'm glad I got to see the DM and Cure shows at a smaller venue than Dodger Stadium. The Cure show was beyond brilliant and DM was fun for a lackluster album IMO. I miss those days! Black clothes, ratted up hair and eyeliner!

@mpresev Lucky you! Except of course for the venue. I HATE stadium shows. But, I would have loved to have been there for this one. I adore all of the bands.

@tdoesntmatter I saw them at Dodger Stadium where they opened up for the Cure 's Prayer Tour.. Pixies was the second band that opened followed by Love and Rockets. It was a great show.. All of them..

@mpresev Good Grief. I saw DM and NE that year too. They played the same venue as the Cure, but for two nights. Electronic wasn't there. I guess DM didn't need anymore help selling out two nights at Starplex. My first concert was Madonna (don't hate, I love her to this day) DM in 88 was my second.
