Stuff in common help but not that important. Leonard had physical attraction straight up the need after hot girl. Penny just saw him and a sweet guy/friend. No chance in first few months or years of knowing each other. Also lucky for him she is a neighbour, if a work colleague or someone sees now and then like at Cheesecake Factory no chance really. The close proximity allowed friendship to formed and grow. That Halloween party kiss was the first time penny realised she had caught feelings. And anything after that was Leonard trying to hard and stuffing up or penny concerned about her life. Can really see them both hit stride in confidence in each other and themselves around the middle of series. Leonard doing big project and penny finding herself as a marketing guru. That’s when asp the series focus less on the and more on Sheldon going thru same growth with Amy, and Howard with Bernadette to less extent.

That kind of job normally requires a college degree in Organic Chemistry or Physiology or some related field so that the representative can speak knowledgably about the products.

I don’t care what people say about this show. Sure, it has changed a lot through the years- but it’s still charming and funny. All the characters(even Sheldon) have changed, and grown as a person. It’s my favorite show, and it always makes me feel better watching it.

They relationship also had it issues mainly with amy dealing with sheldon eccentric behavior. They on a really similar wavelength. It easy for them to talk cause they both extremely intelligent. It was an awkward conversation, Penny asked just to get the conversation going, Leonard knew this and he also knew that whatever he thinks is exciting won't be exciting for her and that he wouldn't be able to explain it to her anyway ... so he downplayed and said nothing really happened since the 30s. It's the equivalent of you mom asking for news about a subject you know she doesn't understand but asks anyway to show interest and you say "nothing" to skip this part.

Watching Penny change over the course of the show was like watching Rachel. Hangs over friends. She started out adorable and hot but then became basically Jennifer Aniston. Also, once the show left the CW and was picked up by CBS, it considerably changed from a show about geeks to a show about relationships. It became Friends.

Alex was just as attractive, she was more subdued about it. She was on Leonard's level mentally. Also, she wasn't an alcoholic slut. Most importantly, she actually liked Leonard, Penny feels she settled for him. The two of them ending up together seemed forced and doomed to eventual failure.
