Imagine being 15-16 years old and getting bumped up from a small side tent (expecting just a couple thousand to show) to the main stage in front of 65,000+ metalheads BUT 95% of them never heard of you, some came to hate on you (based on their videos up to this point like "Gimme Chocolate" which had gone viral a few months before and many thought they were a joke or gimmick), and these people are known to throw bottles at the acts if they don't like them! But by the end of their 30-ish minute set, the crowd is chanting "We want more! We want more!" which you can hear at the end of this video (You missed it because you ended the video early) because it was their closing song. They had the largest pits and wall of death's, as well as sold the most merch out of all the acts performing at that event (Metallica, Iron Maiden, etc). This show was the start of them blowing up outside of Japan and is considered a major moment in BABYMETAL history. This is why this show is my favorite of all their shows! Great video and reaction! Keep up the great work!

> "The drummer is always on point!" He (Hideki Aoyama) is a freaking living metronome! What you have just witnessed, by the way, was the last song of their breakthrough performance in the west. Game, set, and match! The rest is history! And because the lyrics of this song are very, very important: *IJIME, DAME, ZETTAI* (Bullying, No, Absolutely) [Rururu...] [Ah.] Dreaming, I couldn't have even it. Between the light and the darkness, I stayed alone. Those who got hurt were not only I myself, but also those who kept on watching me. It was you. Confidence, [Have it!] I couldn't have. [Don't be beaten!] I kept on hiding [I dislike to be found!] until yesterday. [Yesterday is gone!] But good-bye to yesterdays' myself. [Bye-bye!] Bullying. [No!] Bullying. [No!] It's disgraceful. [No! No! No! No!] Sometimes you get hurt, sometimes you hurt someone, and we all get badly hurt. Fox, [Fly!] Fox, [Fly!] I'm sure you can fly. [Fly! Fly! Fly! Fly!] Let your pain and sadness all go outside! It's OK because I'll protect you. I didn't show my tears, and in the night I was about to cry, in a room deep inside my heart, I stayed alone. Those who hurt me were not only someone else, but also those who pretended not to notice. It was my friend. Nothing [Nothing!] could I say. [Say nothing!?] I was about to give up [No easy throwing out!] until yesterday. Pain... Aching... All the while... Alone... Your heart... Pretending not to notice... Anymore... I'll never get away. Bullying, No, Absolutely. Full of dearest-ness, it's pressuring but also encouraging. Anymore, anymore your... I don't want to see anymore your tearful face. Bullying. [No!] Bullying. [No!] It's disgraceful. [No! No! No! No!] Sometimes you get hurt, sometimes you hurt someone, and we all get badly hurt. Fox, [Fly!] Fox, [Fly!] I'm sure you can fly. Let your pain and sadness all go outside! It's OK because I'll protect you. Bullying, No, absolutely. [No! No! No! No!] Bullying, No, forever. Bullying, No, absolutely. [No! No! No! This is the show that made BabyMetal international sensations. The producer of the festival in an interview said that when BabyMetal started performing everything back stage came to a stop as everyone was WTF? and rushed to watched them perform. Before the girls took the stage they were in the wings and from there they could not tell if there was anyone out there, the view was blocked. They decided to go out and give it their all no matter how many people were there.

Good reaction, thanks! IDZ is definitely one of my top favorites. Really love the final part where they do that key change to get higher. Also an important message: Absolutely no more bullying. This performance is a very important piece of BABYMETAL history. This was their first performance in the UK and that was a massive festival with a crowd of 50.000+ metalheads most of which never heard about BABYMETAL before. They were very afraid before they got on stage because that particular type of crowd can be very disgusting if the band don't match their expectations (urine bottles involved, you know...). The result? They won over the UK crowd and left them asking for more. Unbelievable! But please, don't cut the end of the video we love, I mean LOVE their cute farewell... and also the crowd begging for more :) See you next time!

The Metal elitists you mentioned were expected to be at that show in great numbers, so many (including the girls) were afraid they'd get booed off the stage, thrown bottles at or things like that. Instead they left the crowd chanting for more. That's what makes this performance so significant for fans. It marks the beginning of their success in the West. And if you watch the ending just after the "we are...", you can almost see the weight falling off the girls' shoulders as they realize that. There are quite a few big names from the Metal scene that have posed with the girls, spoken positively about them or even openly defended them against mislead Metal "fans" (Rob Zombie, Rob Halford, Chad Smith, Jonathan Davis...).

Nice reaction & thanks from Japan 有難う💛。 "Dame Zettai (= No absolutely)" part of this title is originated from police campaign against illegal drugs which had started in 1960s in Japan. So this song emphasizes that "Ijime (= bullying)" is considered as harmful thing as illegal drugs. Although we have unfortunately not been able to eliminate "Ijime" from our society yet , we have to continue our efforts at home and in school. In this video we see many mosh pits that are good signs to welcome bands. But I love more to see that the crowd gradually turned into audience. When three girls started to speak some words in the interlude, loud cheers quickly subsided and the audience even tried to listen to what they were saying despite that the people could not understand our language. I am emotionally moved whenever I see that scene. After the performance, people in the crowd became happy, so did Kami band, and I am sure that the three girls fell asleep very happily that night.

It's very likely Babymetal would not have been able to convince the metalheads in the audience without them really bringing it live, which includes the Kami band delivering the goods. If it was just Su-metal standing their singing (no dancing and looking bored as you mentioned) with the Kami band it might not even have been enough. Because what the girls do: they bring their attitude on stage. You can see the expressions on their faces they mean business and they go hard. I think that really helped the audience to have respect for the girls.

The Gimme Chocolate video on KZbin is a music video. It's studio sound dubbed over the live performance of the Legend 1997 concert. "Ijime, Dame, Zettai" means "No more bullying, forever". Literally translated it's "Bullying, no good/no way, absolutely/never". This Sonisphere festival, which is one of the biggest metal festivals worldwide, was their first big performance "in the west", they've only done small venues in France and Germany I think before that one.

Not only that but Gimme Chocolate at legend of 1997 wasn't even live when it was live. I guess i'll say it for new people. The Kami band came on later in the show. The music was recorded in that part.

⚡ 💀 💕 / 🚫 And… that's how you win over metalheads on your first UK appearance. They pronounce it a few times in the song, but you can just refer to this one as "I-D-Z". BABYMETAL fans will know what you're talking about. : ) Casual fans might not know who they are, but there's a lot of support for the Kami Band members, both in BABYMETAL, and in their other projects. For this Sonisphere UK performance, we had Mikio Fujioka (RIP) and Leda Cygnus on guitars, BOH on bass and Hideki Aoyama on drums.

The other aspect of the choreography besides the entertainment value as you mentioned, is that if each song has its own choreo, fans can learn it and dance along at the show, which adds a lot of fun to the whole thing... it adds more connection points between the performers and the crowd, which is always a good thing.

Great reaction, guys. I think at this point making BABYMETAL a constant reaction on your channel instead of random would be a good idea. Also, having a smile on your face from ear-to-ear and getting chills/goosebumps or even crying is pretty common when listening to BABYMETAL because they are just so good, and Su-Metal's vocals lead the charge. Now, a couple things about the video, the band, etc. 1) Before everyone else gets on you about it, you NEVER stop a BABYMETAL video until it ends or you might miss something important like you did here. I'll get to that in a second. 2) You should definitely start pausing the crap out of your reactions to them because their company, Amuse, is a copyright monster and will tag you for the littlest thing if they can. It might not affect every country, but if you're looking to build your channel every block or copyright strike will hurt. 3) The neck brace you've seen and/or mentioned in the first couple videos you've reacted to is a tribute to the drummer of another Japanese metal band called X Japan. He would headbang so friggin' hard that he messed up his neck to the point where doctors told him he HAD to wear it while performing or he could kill himself the next time. 4) The band is amazing! They are called the "Kami Band", or "God Band" in English, and they are made up of some of the best session musicians in Japan. The drummer, Hideki Aoyama, is possibly the best drummer I've heard in years. BOH is their bassist (the bald guy), and I'm not sure of the guitarists at this performance. I think one was Leda Cygnus, but I'm not positive. I'll leave that to others. 5) Many people in Rock and music in general have come out in support of them. The big one you're probably thinking of was Rob Zombie. They have opened, played with, made fans of, and/or befriended SEVERAL prominent names in Rock/Metal such as: Metallica, Rob Halford of Judas Priest, the aforementioned Rob Zombie, Corey Taylor from SlipKnot (whose new music video they make a cameo in), Red Hot Chili Peppers, Lady Gaga, and others I'm forgetting I'm sure. 5) Onto this video. Multiple people have gone through the situation the girls were in for the most part, so I'll just add a couple things I *THINK* got missed. Originally, BABYMETAL was supposed to perform on a secondary stage or in a tent for like 1,000 people. "Gimme Chocolate" came out in like February of 2014 and went viral, causing the show's promoters to bump them to the main stage to open the entire show on Saturday, which they found out about a month or two in advance of the change. Their vantage point from backstage sucked and they couldn't see anyone, so they thought no one was there. They were actually more worried about what to do if there wasn't anyone in front of them. Do they perform or no? To make matters worse (I can't recall if they knew), as someone else said, the UK metal fans are rowdy on good days, and a few made comments online about not just throwing bottles at them (something UK fans will do to anyone they think sucks), but they were threatening to throw bottles of piss at them. The girls walk out to see a sea of 50K-60K people in front of them, a massive majority of whom hadn't heard of BABYMETAL. They had a bit of fight or flight response happen where they weren't sure if they could, but Su being the leader just kind of gave Yui and Moa a look or encouragement and they went right into their set. Five songs later and the crowd was eating out of the palm of their hand. The part you missed is the entire crowd chanting, if not almost begging, for more as they walked off stage. To see the giant grins on their faces at the end of the set is amazing because they knew they just did something huge.

Su's flawless vocals, Yui and Moa dancing their hearts out and the band going crazy.... just another day for Babymetal. Great reaction boys.
Why do people hurt each other? Who do they hurt them for? More than ever, I do not wish to see you cry anymore. In a dream, the Fox God taught us "Never Give Up!" In a dream, the Fox God taught us "Wall of Death". If you show true courage, we will show true metal. No more Bullying, Forever! So, many people have already dropped the info about this song, and the history of this performance, so I'll just leave a suggestion! Rondo of Nightmare with Mischiefs of God intro live at Budokan Black Night!!!!! This is a Su solo and one of their darker toned songs. Its about a girl running from an unknown IT in a recurring nightmare. She tries to hide but IT always finds her. Realizing that she cannot escape, she pleads for IT to show itself to her. Then, finally, she falls to the darkness! Soooo dark! So metal! Love it! And the intro showcases the insane god like skills of the appropriately named Kamiband (band of Gods), and will melt your face and blow your mind! Kitsune up!\m/

You cut the video short...missing the "emotional victory".
It was the addition of the Kami Band that made them legit and accepted by others and what brought them to this festival and others. Before they used a fake band in skeleton suits with a recorded track. The members here are Hideki on drums, BOH on bass, Leda on guitar (drum side) and Mikio Fujioka on guitar (who died Jan 2018.) His guitar sounds are heard often in live concerts (Whirls, High pitches, and Harmonics). Always smiling and having fun. You can see (7:12 here) when he almost forgot to cut the sound at the break and starts to laugh. Unfortunately as of last year they started putting the band to the back and gave them masks so they can use other musicians. No more kami solos either. More of a Pop production now. Guess we will see what future shows bring.

Some advice about BABYMETAL reactions: tl;dr: Don't use compilations for BABYMETAL, we have a better solution. Please don't rely solely on videos that are on KZbin (mainly compilations); they're not meant to be used for reactions as the mix of concerts and generally bad editing can make it confusing for those new to BABYMETAL. Also, you won't get the full BABYMETAL experience with these. Some people think they are safer for reactions, but they're not. They may get past the bot initially, but you still stand the chance of your video being blocked later and the possibility of having copyright strikes. Some fans made a selection of "best" performances for each song; I would suggest using it for future BABYMETAL reactions. Here is the link : docs.google.com/document/d/1DqPsavocgGvCyZfUHvrkgJ5KZMaMkmMgjy2UxNNG96E/edit# You should note though, that your video will almost definitely be blocked if these are included in your video and that you will need to do what we call "link & sync". It's very easy and made easier with the help of Reactor Hub, a tool made for helping avoid blocks etc. We made a short tutorial on how to use it : drive.google.com/open?id=1X6hN2BdyKzFmVN9XMEo2M89hsKY0B-bnnHRVVMNY13w Using that you are safe from blocked videos and even future copyright strikes, since no copyright material is included in your video :). There is even a discord for Reactor Hub if you need any help. I'm hoping you will have fun with BABYMETAL in future reactions :).
