Great reaction. This was their first tour outside of Asia. They had played two small shows before this - one in Paris the other in Koln/Cologne where they also celebrated Yui's and then Moa's 15th birthdays. Sonisphere was their first show in the UK and their first major event outside of Asia. Apart from the video for 'Gimme Chocolate', which had gone viral a little earlier in the year and some there had seen, the vast majority of that crowd knew nothing whatsoever about BABYMETAL before they stepped on stage. They were faced with a sea of puzzled looking UK metalheads all wondering why there were three little Japanese girls in red tutus on the main stage at this huge metal festival ... and then they started their set with 'BABYMETAL Death'. Su has described how, as their set went on, it was like watching a wave spread back starting from the first couple of rows as the people got involved one after the other, jumping, singing along and getting involved. IDZ was the 5th and last song of their 25-30 minute set and you could see and hear for yourself just how well they'd gone down. With this performance and the show they played in London a couple of days later they really enjoyed and appreciated the reception they were given and they describe the UK (and London in particular I think) as their second home.

This was a very special show for the girls. This was really the first time the band realized they might be able to successfully put on a legit world tour. Before this show, they had never performed in front of a large outdoor audience with the Yuibot mark IV, which was in fully autonomous mode here and didn't require a physical tether. Her battery capacity was still limited, which is why the set was only 5 songs long, and her microwave receiver conked out in mid-performance, so the secondary antenna was deployed from her skirt for this song, but it was a great proof of concept that the Yuibot could finally perform on stages that weren't especially built for her. The rest, as they say, is history!

This is considered their breakout performance. The first major concert appearance by BabyMetal outside of Asia. There is much lore surrounding this show and is worth delving into. After this performance (an hour long set beginning with BabyMetal DEATH and including Gimme Chocolate and Catch Me If You Can and concluded with this song). The critics loved them and as you can see over 60,000 metalheads were converted. The rest is BabyMetal history.

⚡ 💀 💕 / 🚫 The BABYMETAL members have an expression, "Burn with perfect combustion". Which means to pace yourself, but to end the performance having given it your all. That's how you win over metalheads on your first UK appearance. Sonisphere can be a really tough crowd if they don't like you. I can't imagine the strength of nerve it took for a 16 year old Su, and just turned 15 year olds Yui and Moa to take that stage. And to leave the crowd wanting more. They made some new fans that day. They followed this up with a headlining concert at The Forum in London two days later. That was a classic Kami Band line-up with Mikio Fujioka (RIP) and Leda Cygnus on guitars, BOH on bass and Hideki Aoyama on drums. There is an alternate "Nemesis" version of this song, found on limited editions of the single. It features guitars recorded by former Arch Enemy guitarist Christopher Amott.

Great & thanks again from Japan 有難う💛。The phrase "Dame Zettai (= No absolutely)" is originated from police campaign against illegal drugs which had started in 1960s. So this song implies that "Ijime (= bullying)" is considered as harmful and addictive as illegal drugs. We have to continue our efforts at home and in school (and in any society or organization or group in the world) to eliminate it. In this video, I love to see the excited crowd gradually turn into enthusiastic audience. When three girls started to speak some words in the interlude, loud cheers quickly subsided and the audience even tried to listen to what they were saying although the people could not understand our language. I am moved whenever I see that scene. People in the crowd became happy, so did Kami band, and I am sure that the three girls fell asleep very happily that night after the biggest event in their life in foreign county. Now in 2021, BABYMETAL performed IDZ in all of 10 BABYMETAL Budokan Concerts with Su-Metal's matured voice. It was probably their message to the world.

Great reaction, thanks! "Ijime, Dame, Zettai" is definitely one of my top favorites. Really love the final part where they do that key change... well noticed by the way :) It's subtle but I believe it completes and ends the song in a perfect way. This performance is a very important piece of BABYMETAL history. This was their first performance in the UK and that was a massive festival with a crowd of 50.000+ metalheads most of which never heard about BABYMETAL before. They were very afraid before they got on stage because that particular type of crowd can be very disgusting if the band don't match their expectations (piss bottles involved, you know...). Also the organizers moved them to the main stage and they were worried that no one would show up. The result? They won over the UK crowd and left them asking for more. They also outperform any other band selling merch... and we are talking about the big names! It's almost unbelievable and an epic win. Until next time!

LEGENDARY 30+ minute set in BABYMETAL history!!! Imagine being 15-16 years old originally set for a small side tent (expecting maybe a couple thousand to show) to being upgraded a couple months before the show to the main stage in front of 65,000+ people BUT 95+% of them never heard of you, some came to hate on you (based on their videos up to this point like "Gimme Chocolate" which had gone viral a few months before and thought they were a joke or gimmick), and the Sonisphere crowd are known to throw stuff at the acts if they don't like them! But by the end of their 30-ish minute set, the crowd is chanting "We want more! We want more!", which you can see and hear at the end of this video. They had the largest pits and wall of death's, as well as sold the most merch out of all the acts performing at that event (Metallica, Iron Maiden, etc). This show was an important part of them blowing up outside of Japan and is considered a major moment in BABYMETAL history. This is why this show is my favorite of all their shows! Great video and reaction! Keep up the great work! 🤘🦊🤘

An early version of the song can be heard in a video uploaded to the band's official KZbin channel entitled "Babymetal - My First Heavy Metal in Tokyo 2012", which also features part of a live performance of "Iine!". On November 8, 2012, an official trailer for the single and accompanying music was uploaded to the band's official KZbin channel. The trailers, along with a live performance at Sonisphere Festival, subtitled the song as "No More Bullying" and "No More, Bullying, Forever", respectively. An interview with the producers of the band was published in the December issue of Marquee to promote the single's release in January. The single was released in four versions: a standard edition and three physical limited editions, "I", "D", and "Z". The DVDs included in the limited editions contain either footage of the music video for "Ijime, Dame, Zettai", or of a live performance by Babymetal. The single also had a promotional release to customers who purchased tickets to live performances of Legend "I", "D", or "Z". Unlike previous singles released under Juonbu Records, no songs from the single appeared on a Sakura Gakuin album, due to "Headbangeeeeerrrrr!!!!!" having been already released the same school year. Sonisphere Festival:- •Genre: Heavy metal, rock, punk rock. comedy •Dates: June / July / August. •Location: Europe. •Years active- 2009-2016. The festival has not taken place in the UK since 2014. Stuart Galbraith, CEO of Kilimanjaro Live, revealed in 2018 that Sonisphere will not return to the UK, due to financial issues. Nice reaction! This was the girls' first concert on a large stage. Sumetal, the lead singer, was only 16 years old. Moametal & Yuimetal, dancing on the side, were 14. But as Babymetal, we had a career of more than 4 years. As you pointed out, I also believe that Babymetal has theatrical elements. And one of the key elements of this band is the creative choreography. The choreographer is Mikiko, one of Japan's leading choreographers who was also chosen as the producer for the opening ceremony of the Tokyo Olympics. Without her, I don't think Babymetal would have been possible.

There was a close up of Yui's face on the projector screen at this moment, she saw what was happening, and for a moment her expression was like "ok, forget it, NOW we are f*cked..." *These girls were so brave knowing they could be rejected and bottles of PISS COULD have been thrown at them* They just said screw it , lets roll the dice and just go do it. Nice reaction. I'm sure they were told about metal festival crowds and the things they do during a show. But to see it in person is a whole other thing. I often wondered in those shots of Su looking out over the crowd just what was she thinking at that moment? WTH does come to mind but She was probably thinking about singing the song correctly which is most likely the case. Considering the smile, she has at the end. She definitely did it correctly. I've come to notice that you can tell how the show went at least for Su, by the smile on her face at the end of the show. Some of these shows she's actually smiling through the whole show. For Legend M, Moa's 20th birthday show, it seemed like they were all on cloud 9. They were turned up to 11 as they say. Moa may have been on 12 that day. IDZ sadly was more of a public service announcement around the time it came out. Bullying was a Hugh problem in Japan at the time. IMO you're ready for the song that made Babymetal. So much lore behind this song. And it's not a Babymetal song, they only covered it later. "Over the Future" without this song there may never have been a Babymetal as we know them today. This song was done by Karen Girls the Jpop group Su belonged to before she ever met either Yui or Moa. Do Babymetals performance of this song and you get the story of how Babymetal came to be. The fox whole goes deep on this song

I have a photo of them just before they took the stage for Sonisphere (youtube will not let me include a link in the comments) and they look terrified. Then, as they walk out onto the stage, you can see Su's emotion changing to determination. They then proceeded to kick ass. This is the performance that gave them the confidence to know with determination and perseverance, together, they could overcome any challenge, which is exactly what they've repeatedly done every year for the 8 years since. Here is hoping COVID is not what finally puts an end to them. It's already taken 2 years out of their career. Su just turned 24 (she was 16 or 17 in this performance).

I'll explain why she has such a good voice here. It was their first performance in UK and it was very important for the band. It was the creation of the first impression on which everything depended. The producer told her to give 120%. And since their performance lasted only 30 minutes, it was acceptable. She sang at risk. I think her vocal cords have undergone a lot of stress there. But this girl dreamed of being a singer since childhood. And so she was happy to give all the power she had to impress new fans. This girl is not so simple at all. She is very strong-willed and ready to go all the way.

Jacque, you should watch "Akatsuki Unfinished" - it's the raw, "acoustic" version of the song Akatsuki (originally a speed metal / power metal song), and is performed live with only piano backing track. You will appreciate Sumetal in a different way. You should ready your napkin too if you are a crybaby :P then follow it up with Akatsuki live Budokan 2021 to hear where she is right now. Actually good idea for you to have a comparison video listening to Akatsuki Unfinished first when Su was younger, then Akatsuki Budokan 2021 to hear her at present. Then another thing since you find the Moa and Yui so adorable, you should try their songs where only them two are performing. Good to start with the songs: GJ! or Onedari Daisakusen, or if you want to go heavy (as in regarded as the heaviest Babymetal song) try the song Sis Anger

In this classic IDZ performance you get a bit of everything: Kami Band shredding, Su power vocals, Su's hyper extended elbow, Moa and Yui backing vocal, dancing, and a Yui tutu malfunction. The title takes an iconic Japanese anti-drugs slogan "Mayaku, Dame, Zettai" (Absolutely no drugs) and uses it against bullying substituting Ijime (bullying or abuse) for Mayaku (drugs). In the two years before this concert BM had worked hard to transform themselves from an idol group, just singing and dancing to backing tracks, into a metal band capable of performing live in concert. The Kami Band had been formed and integrated into the performances and they had played several Japanese festivals and done the Legend concerts in preparation for touring. After that BM were getting good buzz and they were invited to perform at Sonisphere, a big UK metal festival at Knebworth, as part of their first European tour. They were nervous because the UK crowd was notoriously tough and weren't expecting such a large crowd, but by the end of their 30 min set they had won them over completely. IDZ was their finale. It's the moment that critics and the international audience realized that BM were a legitimate headlining band and not just a gimmick. It was also a complete vindication of Koba's vision and everyone's hard work and I think you can see that in Su's smile at the end.
@rickwagner-2 жыл бұрын
"Then, in 2014, BM were getting good buzz and on their first European tour they were invited to perform at Sonisphere". Again, that's not what happened. Their European tour started on July 1st, 2014 in Paris. They were booked many months before that for the Sonisphere UK 2014 show on July 5th. They were rescheduled to appear on one of main Sonisphere stages back in March 2014 after 'Gimme Chocolate!!' went viral.

@@cuttysark8017 Great! You know a lot about BABYMETAL, so it was strange to see you repeat something that wasn't quite right. I really like your edited description. You cover a lot in just a couple of paragraphs.

This is easily my favorite choreography from Yui and Moa… they started with a full sprint and one of them did a perfect pitching punch after the breakdown.

Great reaction as always! I love all the Babymetal songs but if I had to pick a favorite, it would be Ijime Dame Zettai. Everything about it is good. Su's powerful voice, The kawaiiness of Yui and Moa, the band going crazy, all of it is so good. Su-Metal is one of the best stage performers around but Yui and Moa are no slouches in stage presence themselves. It's not all just sugary cuteness with them. I like what you said at the end about enjoying the little things. Even with Babymetal, if you can enjoy the little things they do in every performance it makes the experience so much better. Also, geting out in nature and enjoying the small things is why I like photography. I wonder if you are also into photography as a side hobby because you sound like someone that would love it. :)

This was Babymetals 1st appearance in the UK, and the vast majority did not know who they were, most had turned to see this Japanese band that the British music press were going nuts over. They were the 1st performers of the day and normally you only get around 5k people turn up to see the opening act, unless your known then maybe 15k, Babymetal just blew that away. The look Su had at the end was very different from the one when she 1st walked out, they looked like deer caught in the headlights of a car. When they were back stage, due to the hight and the hill slopping away from the stage, they could not see the crowd and they were thinking maybe 1k could have come out to see them, they had also been told of what happens to bands that the crowd takes a dislike to. Then walked out to the biggest crowd they had played in front of, full of faces they didn't know, and could turn nasty for them. By the time the 1st song was over, they knew they had won the crowd over and turned all that nervous energy into one hell of a 1/2 hour set. That was the 1st time I saw Babymetal. I have another Japanese band for you to try, with a Babymetal link, one of the guitarists was in the 1st ever Kami band. The singer for the group is one of the most sort after singers in Japan, and has been involved in about 100 releases, mainly albums, in 18 years. "They were the 1st performers of the day…" They weren't the first performers of the day though. BABYMETAL were on the Apollo stage in the afternoon, right after Tesseract. They were followed by Ghost, Anthrax, Frank Turner & The Sleeping Souls, the Deftones, and finally around 9:00 PM, by Iron Maiden, the closing act.

I will be honest. This is good song and crowd liked it. BUT FOR ME (only for me, it's my opinion) it is not the best their song and performance. But i understand the crowd reaction and if only i was there... Well... I would be absolutley happy... Thanks for reaction btw. We want more babymetal reactions. See you 🤘🦊🤘

Plenty of people have told you the significance of this performance.... I now would suggest you switch gears with Babymetal.... So far, you have been listening to their harder/faster stuff.... Time to go for Akatsuki Unfinished from Legend 1997 concert (actually, there's only one of this performance).... and No Rain No Rainbow from Legend S... Or The One from 10 Babymetal Budokhan Concert.... These 3 are ballads, and shows off more of the emotions in Su's singing. That's the one major thing I love about Su's vocals....There are a lot of singers with power and range (Tarja or Floor), but Su has a way of making you feel the song/emotion she's singing, that I don't see in many other singers. Especially in Akatsuki Unfinished, her facial expressions, her singing, makes you feel the anguish, the pain, every emotion in that song. If you plan on reacting to Akatsuki Unfinished, bring tissues, you'd need them. 🤘🦊🤘

Hi Jacqueline. Since you're having fun watching major historical Babymetal moments, can you do a reaction video to what is typically referred to as Moabanger? It is Headbanger, but sung during Moa's birthday, and Su has a surprise in store. You'll probably have to make the screen very opaque and have the logo covering the screen and stuff like that to protect yourself against the evils that be, but it will be worth it I think.

First of all, 15-year-old girls who were active as idols in this crowd of big men formed a band unit to promote adults and were thrown on stage with only a little knowledge. Please remember. I want you to praise the fact that the song started and finished with only a few fans. I can't imagine how scary it was. They are really brave and professional.

I love your reaction because you seem to appreciate the spectrum that Babymetal really operates across. In interviews--I think it's a KZbin sort of "Babymetal reacts to Americans reacting to Babymetal" sort of thing--they say that some people really seem to appreciate they're trying to blend genres and messages, and I think it's great. This one is an anti-bullying song; Doki Doki Morning is about being a teenager, and it's so catchy it's impossible to be sad after hearing it; Road of Resistance is about fighting through adversity and never giving up. Crusty old metalheads think it has to be screaming, angry and disenfranchised to be "real" metal, but artists from Metallica to Judas Priest's Rob Paulsen--like, the father of metal--have all said Babymetal is the truth. Sometimes people are so married to their favorites that they're afraid of change, afraid of difference; it's so enlightening to see you react with such genuine enthusiasm for their creativity. Su is an absolute powerhouse vocalist, but the dancers really make the show work. This wouldn't work with three vocalists, nor repetitive dance like Western pop does. In any Babymetal video, I very rarely see the same dance move twice. Obviously, I could gush all day, but I'll leave on this note--if you haven't seen it yet, check out the live Road to Resistance linked below. Truly great, and all the better because it's the last song of a 90 minute set and they still have THAT level of energy. Amazing. kzbin.info/www/bejne/sIWoioh8nLGpm7s

In order to get in touch with nature and recharge the battery, why not try a "遍路 = Henro" that pilgrimages 88 temples on an island in Japan. It's difficult now because of the plague, but before that I often saw foreigners walking for it.
