plus-size shopping in tokyo? my haul & experience ft. punyus, wc, harajuku & more

i'm so excited to share with you the fashion items i bought while in tokyo, japan. obviously, i can only speak to my own experience, but i wanted to talk about what plus-size shopping was like in the city - especially in areas like harajuku. maybe it was because my expectation were so so low, but i was actually very surprised at what i could purchase, and i'm super happy with everything i got (and also happy it's getting cooler, so i can finally wear all of it ahaha).

I found this very interesting. I went in 2017 and found that people didn't judge me for my weight. Looking back I felt so terrible going into clothing stores because of the other people I went with to Japan. They kept saying this would look cute on you if you lost X amount of kilos. No one from Japan was rude or judgemental toward me, but the negativity of some of the people I went with (other Australian students from my university) really made it seem that way. I went for a month and in the final week I split from the negative people and went on solo trips around Tokyo, some of which were through Harajuku and Shibuya. A store in Shibuya (I can't remember the name; it was probably Punyus) did the plus size clothing and I still regret not picking up this gorgeous black lace dress. It sinched in around the waist with lace sleeves and across the chest, with an open back but not too open to feel uncomfortable. It was about $70AUD. I love love love your positivity and you look so cute in your clothes. It makes me want to be a bit more outgoing next time I visit, though I'll definitely either be doing a solo trip or go with close, supportive friends. :)

I love the bread dress!! I only bought one clothing item in Japan - a sushi cat sweater from harajuku. I love it. I’m a tall girl so I wasn’t expecting to get much but my jumper fits great. Hooray for Japan’s love of oversized haha

The last pinafore dress reminds me of something I saw in Primark, so it's very true that you can find similar clothes in your country. I like others fell in love with the bread dress. Thank you for dispelling some myths about j fashion 💕

Hey! Thanks so much for the video. I do want to dispute something you said a little about the punyus sizing - I wear a 2x in North America for tops (thanks to my bust size, without I would be XL) and the size 4 shirts at Punyus we’re MASSIVE on me, which makes me think that they could easily fit 4x as well depending on their body type and style preferences. Next time you head back you should check out Shimamura/Avail!
