Any chance this will ever see a retail release? I'd buy day one if it happened. Maybe it could somehow see an independent bluray 4K resolution release with a Sega licence to prepare for the upcoming Shenmue III that they have licensed and greenlit, like they did with the original Shenmue The Movie in preparation for Shenmue II's launch on the Dreamcast in Japan and Europe. This version is obviously greatly extended far beyond a standard 90 min feature, so what would the chances be?
@Mr3577 жыл бұрын
I don't think it could ever happen without involvement from Sega, and even then I would want to do a remake to improve various things. I'd highly prefer that they re-release the games so that more people can have their own experience instead of watching one I created.

@@Mr357Well done beating chai in the arcade. I always thought you couldn't beat him and it was rigged as part of the story as you can't see his health. I've never seen it play out like that. Only rio having to rest in bed after chai defeats him which makes the fight at the very end where you knock him in the water seem more daunting and revenge like....

I can't believe the number of scenes/encounters I never experienced after playing endless hours of this game multiple playthroughs as a kid. Such an amazing rich game full of content. I never knew it was possible to defeat the Lan Di worshiping creep in the arcade. I always lost that first fight.

I wouldn't hesitate to call that cutscene the greatest in any game to date.
@supertramp21257 жыл бұрын
Both Shenmue movies were very well made. There were a few 'cutscenes' that I never knew about. Really helped develop a bond between Nozomi and Ryo that I missed when playing through the game, among some of the other characters too. Thanks again for taking the time to piece this well edited movie together!

Just parry religiously, and use low, fast moves like Side Reaper Kick. It's also a good idea to bind a strong throw move to the right trigger; I prefer Demon Drop (the move I finished him with).

I'll remember that if they release it remastered. I'm hoping/assuming they will at some point before 3 comes out cos they can't expect all the ones that loved the original to make it a success, they'll need to get the younger lot on board and a remaster would do it. Still makes me sad it didn't sell half as many copies as God awful games of that gen did. It was a masterpiece. 15 years on I can still remember bits of it like yesterday, and yet I can't remember most games a week after playing them. Anyway mate, thanks for the upload, it was a treat to watch all at once.

From a distant land in the east, from across the sea, he shall appear. He does not know the strength hidden within him, the strength that would destroy him, the strength that would fulfill his wishes, when he is ready he shall seek me out, and we shall brave together the rocky path. I shall wait, this encounter has been my destiny since ancient times. A dragon shall emerge from the earth, and dark clouds shall obscure the heavens, and in the midst of the pitch black night, a morning star shall glisten ...alone.

It's beautiful ;o; Especially since the hair & shadows don't seem bugged like on nullDC when I play LOL
@Mr3578 жыл бұрын
Thank you, Policenaut. I used Demul (build 230915). It's more resource demanding than NullDC, but as you can see it does an excellent job. If you have an NVIDIA graphics card, there should be even less glitches than I experienced.
@Nuk3m8 жыл бұрын
Do you prefer that version of Demul over a higher version for any particular reason?
@Mr3578 жыл бұрын
Phil S Yes. None of the newer versions allow you to change the "internal" resolution of Demul, so unless you play at 480p like an actual Dreamcast, you end up with a pixelated, or aliased, mess.
@Nuk3m8 жыл бұрын
Thank you.
@Mr3578 жыл бұрын
Phil S For this I had the internal resolution at x3. Anything higher is nearly impossible to maintain a solid 30fps with unless you have a very, very good PC. Even at x3 I had to do "practice runs" of everything I included in the movie in order to avoid frame dips when I was actually recording. It's something with the cache, I assume.

which do you consider the definitive version, this or the 4:3? were the cutscenes originally in 4:3 and have been cropped? thanks!
@Mr3578 жыл бұрын
This is what I would call the definitive version. Originally, Shenmue was 4:3 only since the Dreamcast didn't support widescreen, but people like the ones I credited have created codes and tools which allow the Dreamcast and its various emulators to output full 16:9 without stretching anything except text and HUD elements. As you can see, this causes pop-ins which most people (to my surprise) don't seem to mind. With Shenmue II, these have been eliminated completely from the left and right edges, but do appear at the top and bottom (far less frequently).
