I was one who never used a blow dryer or flat iron on my natural hair Until this one time my BF asked what my hair looked like straight So I got a silk press And from that ONE interaction with heat I had about 9-11inches of damage. I was almost waist length y’all So I was MAAAAAAD. It’s a year later and I’m transitioning But I’m still not over it. And now me and him ain’t even together no more.

i did blow dry my hair twice or once a month and my hair was healthy. then i decide to silk press my hair for the holiday. firstly when it got silk pressed it wasn’t even that straight, you could still see the frizz and the roots were slightly curled so i didn’t think i was going to get heat damage. later when i went to jamaica and washed it out i didn’t see any damage at all but then once i got to england again i noticed a lot of straight parts. i’m planning to big chop my hair or try a hair mask because apparently that might work so imma pray

I always wondered why every time I washed my hair, no matter which shampoo/conditioner I used, it continued to look frizzy. I had many angry moments when I was in the verge of cutting off all of my hair. People in my class kept telling me to straighten my hair so I did and I just made it worse. I used to have curly hair as a toddler and my mum wondered whether it was trying to come back, we started doing thing differently (air drying, using natural product, etc) and my hair went curly! I got so many complements about how nice my hair looked and I felt so happy with how I looked!

Well I have my answer and now to the solutions. One silk press caused. First wash after silk press and I smelled that sickening burnt smell, 2nd week after I knew what I thought it was, did acv rinse, protein treatment, dc/hot oil treatment, the smell is gone but so are my curls. I twisted it and my twist are limp and my hair looks permed from the root down. Thanks for the very informative video, now it’s time face reality and try and get it back healthy. My hair was at its longest and the healthiest it has ever been and now I will be trimming and doing protective styles, damage is from the root down with little waves.

Great video!! I found a really great stylist she flat ironed my hair and layered it so beautifully for the first time after I big chopped and my curls bounced back every time!! She said if you go beyond a certain temperature the bonds break down and the hair goes straight. A few months ago I asked her to turn up the heat and sure enough the majority of my hair went straight. Once she turned the temp back down my new growth had no problem reverting so it’s safe to say you have to get salon professional advice and stay in the safe zone temperatures when straightening especially if you have finer hair ...I won’t let anybody touch my hair but her lol.

Trying to find a solution to fix it in 1-2 months, if not then I have to do a big chop for the first time. ☹️. I should’ve just gotten a wig if I wanted to switch it up so much. I miss my afro 😔. I’m soooo upset 😭 I just chopped about 8 inches of damaged hair off back in March. 3 weeks ago I got my hair straightened and I really think they put some form of relaxer in their products because my hair will not revert back. My ends are completely straight. Idk what to do because my hair looks so bad.

I’ve straightened my hair twice and the first time was fine and I got it done by this lady. Reverted back and was fine but when I got it done the second time I was noticing she was putting to much heat to me head. 3 weeks later I wash my hair put a mask in and some oils to let the curl magic happen but turns out my 4c curls where looser and so many strands were straight! I was furious. Just gonna have to let my hair grow out and keep trimming away. Can’t keep what’s dead 😢

I don’t know if my hair is heat damaged, when it’s wet there are much looser curls then when it dries, it is frizzy while the rest of my hair is also frizzy it is almost like I blow dried it. It gets curly everytime I wet it.
@SheReaDelSol5 жыл бұрын
Frizz is inevitable

I straighten my 3 times a year and I use 3 things as mu holy grail...and no heat damage as of yet. And maybe mines insnt drastic enough to tell? All I know my hair is the longest its ever been and the perm was the culprit.

There is no styling my thick ass 4c hair without heat 😞 but I've noticed my ends in the front we're bone straight so I had to trim them down I use peppermint oil to grow my hair out is growing like crazy but I have to style all of this hair and heat is the only way to do it because it's so thick I can't even get through it without the Heat I'm so confused as to what to do to even style it if I can't use Heat I don't want to keep damaging my hair with heat but I have to style it the struggle is real

Work in sections. There is no way, you NEED heat

I don't know what you guys are doing to your hair, but the NO HEAT rule is a complete lie. You can use heat to your hair and it not get damaged. If you are constantly using heat then yes it will become damaged. If your hair can never take any heat at all then you wouldn't even be able to go out in the sun or even exercise for that matter. I'm sorry about your situation, but maybe there was something else going on. Using a blow dryer one time shouldn't have cause that much damage. Another thing is people think just because you don't have curls then your hair is not healthy, but every black woman does not have the same hair texture, so please don't listen to everything people on youtube are telling you about natural hair.

@@Diamond-vq8dr genuinely I never use heat on my hair, I just don’t. And I wanted to do a length check with a blow out and after I washed it was damaged and wouldn’t stop constantly shedding. I can’t even run through my hair wet without loads of strands coming out.
@Diamond-vq8dr3 жыл бұрын
@@samanthaaa7867 I'm sorry to hear that. I know how it feels because it happened to me, but it was something else that caused it. I cried every time I combed my hair. Eventually I had to get it cut very very short. It grew back within 4 months and it was even better. I just know things will get better for you. Once again I am sorry.

I have used heat my whole life I've neevr suffered any severe heat damage my hair always reverts back every single time and I wash and press my hair every two weeks with a hot comb and will style it with a flatiron.

I'm a boy I used to blow-dry it on high heat all the time. Now I have combination hair, for example on the tip-top and side of my head straight hairs grow out. This means my afro will forever have a triangle shape😭😭

I straightened my little girls hair 2 times the first time her curls came back which was about 2 years ago and this past year about 1.5 months ago I straightened it again never using chemicals straighteners but just a flat iron with heat protection only.. and this time her beautiful curls are not coming back 😫.. any suggestions.. she wants her curls back.. I did do a deep heat treatment already also
