I'd be embarrassed to admit that my child didn't feel loved by me. What a shame! That definitely causes trauma that I hope he can or has healed from. Can one heal from such traumatic feelings?

Maybe it has to do with not wanting to do harm by doing too much of the opposite? If we're over-reacting to every tiny fall, they will reflect our emotions themselves. Unfortunately, if we're not careful, we can come off as dismissive or indifferent or uncaring. I suppose what we can learn from this is to find a balance between the two.
