Burt probably didn’t know the Buford was coming to crash the party. This is great improvisation at it’s finest. Jackie Gleason didn’t have scripted lines in the the 3 Smokey and the Bandit movies. These movies were prove that you don’t need a script. As Gold Hat said in the “Treasures of the Sierra Madre”…”Badges? We ain’t got no badges. We don’t need no badges. I don’t have to show you any stinkin’ badges!”

(2) I don't think "GOD" has "COOR'S" (or any other kind of) "BEER" there either. (3) If "SHERIFF BUFORD T JUSTICE" will get any help from SHERIFF LYLE WALLACE bka "DIRTY LYLE" (from another "GREAT MOVIE" called "CONVOY" (1978). "GOD REST THEIR SOULS" because they gave their all to make us happy.

We used to go to the drive-in in the 70's. My Dad n I were close and thick as thieves. I loved that through the Carter Recession and tuff tuff times, my father laughed so hard at Jackie Gleason in Smokey n The Bandit, he wet himself. I'll cherish those moments for the 3 years I have left. I have cancer but those memories make me feel like I have 100 years left. Thank you Jackie. Thank you Burt❤

Talk about offended. Imagine Don Rickles at one of the Dean Martin roasts. Those day's a joke was a joke. No one got offended. Now as for Burt. I remember when he was king of the box office. And those bandit movies. Those were good times. Burts laugh used to crack up the whole theater. Man in the 70s we had great actor's, movies, music, fast cars hot chicks. We had it all. ☮️✌️🕊️🤟

Jackie Gleason hated the script as written so he told Hal Needham that he was going to wing it. Needham got out of his way & movie history was made. 80% of his lines were ad-libbed. Smokey and the Bandit is great movie! One of the destroyers I served aboard was the USS Sampson (DDG-10). In the Navy, after refueling from a support ship, the receiving combatant pulls away at a high speed and usually had a "break-away" song that is played over the ship's 1MC (ship-wide loudspeaker). Our Skipper would order up flank speed and as we pulled away from the supply ship we'd blast out "East Bound and Down"! Awesome; we loved it!
