Smokey & the Bandit since it was filmed around my hometown area in north Georgia & I got to see some of the filming but gotta love Gator & The Longest Yard that were also filmed in south Georgia! Deliverance was also filmed in the Blue Ridge Mountains of Georgia & Sharkey's Machine was filmed in downtown Atlanta
@jray536310 ай бұрын
Gator & The Longest Yard! He lit up the screen in Deliverance! He didn’t get enough screen time in that. I always thought Burt looked like Brando, but have never heard anyone else say it. If there was any animosity between them, Brando was probably jealous of Burt’s success. But Burt’s career was almost as long as Brando’s. He played the original deputy on Gunsmoke. Later on , he had a great sitcom called Evening Shade which was hilarious! And that’s why him and Reed got along so well. They were both funny as hell! Jerry Reed had quite a bit of charisma himself, and I always wished he had done more on screen. I think he would rather go fishing though!

Jerry Reed was not a no name before Burt Reynolds! Jerry Reed is and will always be one of the most cutting edge guitar players that ever was and ever will be. As a young boy I went to Elberton Georgia on the river where I got the opportunity to see Jerry /reed and one of the very best ever My step /father Jr Bryant where they did some pick'in together with String Bean and a few other I better not say or some will know where I am talking about. Jr Bryant was the first person I ever seen play eruption style pick'in that was 1972. Jerry Reed and Jr Bryant if there ever was someone who had all five gifts in pick'in a guitar it was those two. But Jerry Reed had something the rest didn't understand and that was the "Real and the Drop it and Kick it. I am not going to talk about that but Elvis's pickers had to take a little time and I don't know if they ever did understand it either. But Jerry pulled a good'in on the Colonel of the working man. Jerry will always be a great catfish catcher, not as good as me just messing. But You ask the best and if they know they'll tell you Jerry Reed was a cut above. My Step Father Jr Bryant was like myself, He thought Jerry Reed and Roy Clark when it come to play'in music those two could give anyone a run for there money. But Alan Jackson has one of the tightest band in the country.. And George Straight, when he was on tour' he had a tight band. .

Jerry Reed was not a no name guitar picker. In the 60s he had written many country and pop songs. He did a melody and lyrics song Guitar man. Elvis was so impressed he had Jerry record the song with him and split the royalties 50/50. He had several crossover Hits like Amos Moses- When your hot your hot, when your not your not. Not only was he a composer of music and lyrics but a comedian and actor too. He was unknown outside the comedy, pop and country scene but those who knew comedy,pop, and country scene knew who Jerry was.😊

I still to this day cry sometimes when i see it cuz it reminds me of him. Music was awesome. Favorite part is when they slip into the rocking chair. I took the time and waiting almost the entire day til things calmed down and crowds cleared before finally going to talk to them. I had Burt what his thoughts were if they had waited say 5 to 8 years and made the movie in the mid 80s or so what cars would have been on the list instead of the TransAm. Jerry without hesitating said id have chosen a car like that 80s cutlass sitting iver yonder. I looked at his gaze and realized he was looking at my 1983 Hurst/Olds Anniversary car. I looked at him and held out my hand and with my keys said who wants to go for ride. Burt said there is no way im passing this up. To this day i have never let anyone else sit in the drivers seat of that car besides me

Right after Burt Reynolds committed himself to "Smokey And The Bandit," George Lucas offered the role of Han Solo in "Star Wars." Burt, of course, turned it down. He had promised another great friend, "'Smokey" director Hal Needham, he would star in the film. Another twist of irony here is that Hal was considering Jerry Reed for the role of The Bandit. Even better, after Burt was secured for the part, he highly recommended Jackie Gleason to portray Sheriff Justice.

I don't think the movie would have turned out like it did, The two turned into something it is today. They captured a sense of Georgia and the backwood of a southern wheelman. I agree, Georgia women are grand and one of the best but I spent a few (18 - 22 years old) years in South Carolina and I believe they take the cake by a full level above 2nd place. I spent some of my formative young man years in Virginia, NC, SC, and Georgia. It totally ruined my perception of women unfortunately. I went from being surrounded by Women with vibrant personalities to my mid western home area dull cold women. People may not admit to it but the fact that 99% of Southern women are of British descent vs 99% of mid western Germanic descent makes a difference. Not only in looks but the personality and general charismatic spark. You get a lot of pessimistic, practicality and cold dullness from women in those Cultural Germanic areas.
