Took the murder to do anything, but granted they easily could’ve still done nothing about the predatory towing even at that point. Apparently it was a pattern from that tow company and nothing was done for a long time. I’d argue the police could’ve done more about it much sooner… but as you know this stuff happens nationwide and is tolerated far too often by authorities & local governments… which are in many situations in cahoots & mutually benefiting.

Glad these people are being held accountable. Earlier this year my car was towed to a completely separate state more than 40 miles away. Costed me almost $600 to get out and it had not even been there for a full day. It is my belief that most tow companies are absolute Crooks. They hoped that you can't pay the impound fee because it's so ridiculously high and if that's the case then they just get to keep your vehicle and sell it.

let's not forget that these towing companies will then charge a fee to "store" your vehicle on their lot ... I once had a Jeep that was stolen from my driveway... it was then found, dumped on someone's lawn 1,0 months later (and stripped of doors, electronics, wheels and seats) ... the towing company called me and told me that the police found my vehicle and commissioned this company to tow it to their junk yard ... and that I now owed the junk yard $200 for the tow and that they would also charge me $30 per day for "storing" my vehicle ... well it took me a day or two to get down to see the vehicle and then talk to my mechanic and see if it was worth fixing ... so after 2-3 days, I decided it was worthless, and that I was going to junk it... so I paid for the towing and 3 days of "storage" just to junk it and sign the title over to the towing company - that was owned by the junk yard)

Been a victim of this very thing, towed my truck from a company parking lot by a 3rd party company for an alleged incorrectly hung parking placard, said they couldn't read it. Rules were you got 2 warnings before a tow and they had to walk between vehicles to see the placard in the first place just like this case. They skipped the warnings and timed the tow to avoid the daily lunch & shift changes. Was $375 after an Uber ride and they were total a**holes about when I got there, wanted to charge me $50 to move other cars they had packed in around mine, that got dropped when I called 911. The towing company was monitoring the lot apparently they saw that my car was there for too long to be someone using the business. They went into the restaurant and asked the afternoon manager if I had permission to park there. He said he did not know. So they towed my car. They had it in their lot for less than 45 min. when I got there and they tried to charge me $300. I was able to get it out for $200 cash. Absolute crap. They stood by their decision and told me I should have let the afternoon manager know and they were legally allowed to tow the car (idk, overall super shady).

@chrisharmon53093 жыл бұрын
It was a trailer park. There is no HOA in a trailer park man. Most times HOA's are in richer neighborhoods. Most times it's like a landlord with a set of rules. They employ the cheapest tow truck company they can to keep cost down. And the tow truck company is strappy for cash and can barely afford to pay their drivers minimum cut for a tow truck driver so I'm sure the tow truck driver is very inexperienced. Not only that the company HAS to make money some how so they turn to these shady ways of doin shit. No doubt tho....whoever employed the tow truck company is at fault as well to a degree.....but I doubt it's a HOA. And aside from that....if the company agreed to do a job...how can the person be held accountable for a life lost? Really shouldnt it be the person that pulled the trigger? I guess it would come down to whether or not the person that employeed the tow truck company had knowledge they were doing shady shit yet allowed it to continue for a period of time...maybe something like that. But what could they charge him with tho? Accessory to murder? What if he had absolutely no knowledge of the murder until police contacted him....they could still charge him with murder even tho he just employeed the tow truck company? Never pulled a trigger....maybe dont even own a gun. What could they charge him with?
@pattiannepascual3 жыл бұрын
yes.they can make rules, whatever,but the rules should be limited to creating a nuisance or hoarding.Other than that, they have no business on what happens on private property.The owners own that property,they should be able to neatly keep 1 or two cars,registered or not on their own property. What if the people were too broke to pay insurance,etc,and just want to park their unused car in their driveway until they pay insurance,etc? if they can't afford insurance,they sure can't afford to rent a garage elsewhere and certainly can't afford to get rid of their car and buy another. Just using as an example but these HOA's are getting way out of hand dictating peoples lives.Some don't let you hang an American flag.Personally,I would ban hoa's- if a neighbor becomes a problem,city inspectors can be called to remedy the issue.No need for some fascist hoa group to invade this far into residents lives.I loathe anything joint or community like hoa properties because it reeks of communism to me. like joint task forces, etc- I would never move to one or any of these communal housing developments.

My son had his car towed out of his legally assigned parking spot at his apartment complex in Vegas by a predatory towing company. He had to pay about $600 or so to get his car back from the towing company. I am a retired police officer, so my son called me and asked me what he should do, since it was an illegal tow. I advised him to go ahead and pay the money to get his car back, because the longer he left the car at the towing company, the more money they would demand to get it back. He took my advice and did just that. I then advised him to contact the landlord at his apartment complex and notify her of the tow and to see if she authorized the tow and, if so, why she did so. She did not authorize the tow and she placed a call to the towing company, notifying them that their driver illegally towed my son's car and had no right to drive into the complex without being called by her. She demanded they give my son's money back. They delayed and delayed, after repeated calls from my son and the landlord to refund the money to my son. After delaying for several weeks, I advised my son to file a small claims court action against the towing company, but to first put the towing company's owner on notice that he was preparing to do so. Only after my son and the landlord both threatened legal action did my son get this money back. The towing company finally refunded the money, but gave the excuse for towing the car that my son's car was parked crooked in his spot and was across the line, into the adjacent spot. My son said that absolutely was not true. Even if it was true, the towing company had no right to come into the parking lot of a private apartment complex and tow the car without being asked to do so by the apartment complex's owner or manager. There are a lot of predatory towing companies out there and they disgust me!

He should be the rule, not the exception. The community shouldn’t be terrified of their law enforcement. I get high anxiety around cops after I was violently arrested after a car accident *IN MY OWN DRIVEWAY*. I was moving my vehicles around to drive my corvette and someone clipped my surburban when I was backing up. It wasn’t registered as I was selling it I was just moving it in my driveway and this cop roughed me up telling my 11 yr old son who came outside that he gets to watch his mom get arrested as he was crying. The charge? “Lying to police” he said I wasn’t really trying to move it. As my corvette is literally sitting there running. 🤦♀️ My lawyer got me out of there really fast but I was booked and everything. Now my son and I fear cops. I always raised him to respect law enforcement but that experience changed him

I'm a on-site apartment manager and in the past I've received several calls from different towing companies. They really sugar coat the entire package, they will guarantee to come out and paint zones on the property,provide permits, provide no parking and appropriate towing signs all for free. About 90% of the nearby complexes have signed up with these types of towing companies....it's ridiculous, all night long you hear several tow trucks from different companies going up and down the streets and allies (predatory) scandalously looking for cars to tow. I keep it pretty simple in my complex... I add a parking addendum to the lease. Tenants are assigned their spaces, if the car is on non-op or expired tags....that's ok, just keep your car clean and keep the spider webs from forming. I currently have two cars on the property that are on non-op but you would never know it. One day a tow truck pulled in my front parking lot as I was walking to my car. He approached me and asked if wanted his services and he's looking at cars he says to me, "look we'll get rid of that car with expired tags" as he pointed to one of tenants car that is non-op....I replied, "what do you care" he replied, "your the only complex in the neighborhood who isn't signed up with a "service company" I replied "so what, now get off my property" I have signs posted for tenant parking only...I've been doing this for over 20 years,it works...keep it simple.

It is pretty ridiculous some of the rules properties add to the lease and then the technicalities the towing companies will use to rip out as many cars as they can. And don't even get me started on the insane amount they charge. Glad to hear there are decent property managers working for their residents and not ruling over them like a dictator. 👍

Had a tow truck driver threaten to tow my car once. I leaned against his driver door and said, "What's more important to you? Towing a car or going home to your wife and kids? I hope you choose wisely." Because in my State, towing a car without permission of the State or property management, provided 48 hours' notice to the vehicle owner had been given, is theft. And we have Castle Law here. He left. I left my car where it was. And as they drove off, they circled back about a minute later, and I was sitting on the hood of my car. I waved at them.

Having worked for a large towing company in Daytona Beach, back in the early 90s, when this place was basically chaos, We always gave people a break. And if the owner appeared before the vehicle was towed but after it was hooked up, We dropped it on the spot for a $25 service fee for coming out, Whether it had a tag or not and whether it was on private or public property or not because who can say what happened to their tag maybe it was stolen without their knowledge. Of course driving the vehicle On public roads is a violation that should only be enforced by law enforcement not a private towing company. In addition as a currently licensed arm security officer with the state of Florida as well as having my concealed carry permit, Shooting someone in the back of the head is totally wrong and illegal. I can only give the highest praise to the Sheriff And his department For taking appropriate action. My only question is this why wasn't he charged with 1st degree murder instead of 2nd since he obviously stalked this guy down and in addition shot him in the back of the head? I have never heard of anyone attacking someone with their butt cheeks.
