By Sherlock's own admission, Mycroft is actually smarter than him. He's just lazy.
@morningstar65523 жыл бұрын
Quite true, Mycroft is one of the most antisocial characters in literature. He’s wholly disinterested in other people, to the point of misanthropy, even going as far as to only venture from his house, to two places, his work and the Diogenes Club - in which it is absolutely silent aside from a few rooms where one can if so inclined entertain other people. Mycroft is more intelligent than Sherlock, however, his intellect is matched by his indolence and introversion. Sherlock is much more into the joie de vivre and adventure, where Mycroft is far more happy sequestering himself away from people, due to I imagine, pomposity or as I’ve stated, misanthropy.
@Tyrunner00972 жыл бұрын
@@morningstar6552 I believe Sherlock also said that Mycroft, when he gathers information, is more apt to sorting and categorizing it, whereas Sherlock is apt to processing and interpreting information.
@alansmithee4192 жыл бұрын
He's hardly lazy, he basically controls the British government (or rather "is" the British government as sherlock would put it). He just puts his mind to vastly different things than Sherlock. Takes a great deal of effort to get into such a powerful position and stay there.
@matasa74632 жыл бұрын
@@Tyrunner0097 When the Holmes brothers work together, they are unstoppable. Both of them are also fairly uninterested in humans as a whole, because of how superior they are to most folks. I love how Sherlock and Mycroft kinda have this way of talking to each other like they’re speaking a different language. If you listen closely, they are subtly greeting each other and saying they miss each other. Then, later Sherlock hints that he noticed Mycroft driving Moriarty somewhere when it was passing Baker Street, then John chimes in, pointing out exactly how much Mycroft knows about Moriarty faster than Sherlock.

I just love how both Holmes brothers can notice the slightest irregularities: "Bootmaker is ill" - Sherlock's boots haven't been either replaced or fixed. "Recently changed the brand of soap" - Mycroft smells different. "A new bow for your violin" - Sherlock's violin sounds different.

I just realized that despite his immense powers of observation and knowledge of his brother's proclivities, Sherlock didn't notice Mycroft sitting and hiding in the shadows literally five feet away from him, not to mention Mycroft was waiting in the exact location Holmes and Watson came to a stop. I forget which Holmes case it was, but there had been one scene where Watson was nearly killed. In that moment, when Holmes was attending to Dr. Watson, showing a normally-uncharacteristic display of concern, Watson knew Sherlock cared about him. This is affirmed when Holmes, after making sure Watson was okay, turned to the would-be killer and informed him coldly that if Watson had been hurt or worse, Holmes had no problem whatsoever with killing the person who hurt Watson.
