This Sherlock is far too nice, not as Conan Doyle described him, though I do like the actor.
@usedscar4 ай бұрын
@@pamelacorbett8774 When Jeremy Brett first took the role he consulted Doyle's estate holder. Brett put that snap in the character but he said that was the only way he could portray genius thinking. Holmes has been portrayed as the Victorian gentleman which he often is in the novels but he's usually occupied on drugs or reclusive.

I was unaware of this Sherlock Holmes series until I came across some DVDs in a discount store. (I eventually obtained the complete series on Amazon or something--on-line.) Marion Crawford and Ronald Howard (the son of Leslie Howard). As much as I enjoy Basil Rathbone and Nigel Bruce, this television depiction has become my favorite. BTW, both Ronald Howard and Basil Rathbone closely resemble the Sidney Paget illustrations of Holmes that accompanied the Strand's stories (in my opinion, at any rate).

This is one of the earlier productions that had actors the actual ages of Holmes & Watson. This is a combo of French and British production & actors.

The young lad playing the part of 11 year old Andrew Fenwick was Richard O` Sullivan who later became a famous comedy actor. When this was filmed he was himself 11 years old.

Richard O'Sullivan (born 7 May 1944) is an English comedy actor known for his role as Robin Tripp in the TV sitcoms Man About the House (1973-1976) and Robin's Nest (1977-1981). Here he plays the young boy, Andy Fenwick, who hires Holmes.
