SHERLOCK: You could have chosen any random number and walked out of here today with everything you’ve worked for ... (He punches in the second character, his eyes still locked on hers.) SHERLOCK: ... but you just couldn’t resist it, could you? (Her breathing becomes heavier. Sherlock smiles briefly and triumphantly.) SHERLOCK: I’ve always assumed that love is a dangerous disadvantage ... (He hits the third character, still gazing at her.) SHERLOCK: Thank you for the final proof. (Before he can type in the fourth character, she seizes his hand and gazes up at him intensely.) IRENE (softly): Everything I said: it’s not real. (In a whisper) I was just playing the game. SHERLOCK (in a whisper): I know. (Gently pulling his hand free, he types in the final character.) SHERLOCK: And this is just losing. (Slowly he turns the phone towards her and shows her the screen. She looks down at it, tears spilling from her eyes as she reads the sequence which says: I AM SHER LOCKED ... Sherlock, Season 2, episode 1: A Scandal in Belgravia part 4 Transcript by Ariane DeVere aka Callie Sullivan.

IRENE: You don't actually think I was interested in you. Why? Because you're the great Sherlock Holmes, the clever detective in the funny hat? SHERLOCK: No... (Moves forward to hold Irene's hand. Gently whispers into ear.) SHERLOCK: Because I took your pulse. (Montages through all instances of the two holding hands, showing Sherlock taking a pulse.) SHERLOCK: And your pupils dialated. (Shows close up on Irene's eyes.) (Sherlock picks up camera phone and walks to the closed window in the back of the room.) SHERLOCK: I imagine John Watson thinks love is a mystery to me, but the chemistry is incredibly simple and very distractive. When we first met you told me that disguise is always a self portrait, and how true of you, the combination to your safe: your measurements. But this, this is far more intimate, this... is your heart. (Punches in first character, fixing his eyes on Irene's.) SHERLOCK: And you should never let it ruin your head. (Pauses to allow words to sink in.)

One of the reasons you have to watch sherlock in English, i watched it in both English and German and it simply doesnt feel the same in German, so many sentences were so elegantly said, in the german version he literally said 'i checked your pulse'. I usually adore German synchronisations as theyre well done but sherlock is way too British and thought through to make it easy to translate

Its a shame that Conan Doyle didnt develop Irene Adler to such a degree as we wish her to be, instead being remembered once as the only formidable equal to Holmes, of which i have to say... this show provided the perfect actors, the perfect drama, the perfect cunning, and the perfect chemistry that could ever be designed for these two. Scandal in Belgravia is one of the most fantastic episodes i have ever seen in television history, and the ending... i must admit they fooled me perfectly, i really thought she was going to die. Extraordinary job on this show!

Masterpiece. The music in the series is wonderful on the whole, but this stands out from the entire soundtrack. Anyone who experienced how love can be painful and joyful at the same time will understand this

It's so full of sadness and love! I love this soundtrack. And A scandal in Belgravia was my favourite episode.

This episode showed the kind of connection between two people that is beyond physical bond - without a single touch a psychosomatic ‘Love’ can flourish. I am talking about the connection between Great Sherlock Holmes and The WOMEN.

At the end of the episode it hurt so much I cried..... Half because of Irene's 'departure' and mad love for Sherlock she couldn't withstand keeping it secret so she made him her passcode and the other half seeing sherlock heartbroken. If you don't believe me that he is hurt, go and watch the episode and look at the pain in his eyes...

He laughed while he was saying "The Woman" He saved her life, how the hell is he hurt? She could come back, it is a possibility but I don't think it'll happen. Sure as hell hope it does happen.

Something subtle happens after this scene. Sherlock later BEGS* John to give him Irene's phone just before the scene where he saves her. He said, "Please...." TWICE. It just shows how much Sherlock really cares about Irene Adler and how much he's grown emotionally since the start of the series.

This is the most perfect music to go with this episode. I've always loved music and especially dramatic ones such as this one!!! I cannot explain how it makes my heart soar with each crescendo. The affect of the quiet violins toward the end..... Just beautiful!!! Well done David Arnold and Michael Price!!!!!!
