Sometimes I find it difficult to read books in general, as I lose my train of thought. So I decided that I will use the narrators voice to help me read Sherlock Holmes this time. It makes things much more immersive and easier to read 👍👍 Thanks for your great narration skills!

Thank you for reading all of these wonderful stories and entertaining so many tens of thousands of people (conservatively speaking). So, cheers! from the mountains of NC USA. Really love this. I listen to this every time I get in my truck and every time I get a chance at my construction job. I get weird looks when they ask what I'm listening to, but I do not care. Sir Arthur Conan Doyle is truly a treasure, and the narrator is superb.

If I’m remembering correctly there were two actors who portrayed Watson in Granada series with Jeremy Brett. David Burke and Edward Hardwick. The tie in there is his father Sir Cecil Hardwick played Holmes many years earlier.

Superb narration and reading - I had the series narrated by Stephen Fry but I was so put off by his reading that I could never finish even one story. I no longer have spare time to read and like to listen to stories as I work. I settled to listening to the Jeremy Brett TV series instead and feared I would never indulge in true Holmes again thank you for setting those fears aside and making it so!

I'm glad you read the original Strand publication version. A lot (and I mean a lot) of editions use the version that was published in the anthology, which has the opening paragraphs of The Cardboard Box pasted into it. That version is outdated now that The Cardboard Box is in wide publication (and including those paragraphs in The Resident Patient annoyingly leads to two stories having the same opening paragraphs).

There are still Ramblers. Ofter the rambles are organised. Sometimes map and compass cross country. A ramble is just a walk with out a rigid fixed schedule apart from start and finish. IE A leisurely pace, with time to stop and survey the sights or chat to the odd fellow or two (Or the not so odd, Ha!).

@MikeGreenwood512 жыл бұрын
Forget about hating it unless you have very good reason to. In later life School or the dong well at school can become your saviour. School is just a brick house institution. Can not be demolished generally. But it's the gate way to College and then University. So you may as well replace the hate with love and if there are things or people with in the School institution worth hating then hate them. But not the actual school itself. If in school you get education teaching English or mathematics then those are lovables and should not be hated. ACD had a massive amount of education to get him to where he got to. Good School reports are what is 'Respect'. Not bad reports.
