Sherman M4A3E2 Jumbo start up and fly-bys (Ford GAA V8)

Here we can see a very rare restored M4A3E2 aka "Jumbo" used by US Army During WW2. It was the heavy armored assault version of the famous Sherman tank.
This one was restored with its period correct Ford GAA V8 engine.
Seen during Tanks in Town 2023, the famous gathering of WW2 tanks in Belgium, commemorating the liberation of the city of Mons in 1944.

Crazy, the idle is v8 for sure, but under load it sounds like a 4 cylinder, sometimes sounding like the vws it was fighting. Wild. Fricken all aluminum dohc v8 with worm gears running the cams! We talk about German engineering, but that really is impressive.

It’s because it’s a flat plane. It’s really an impressive engine for having been designed in 1940!

It's a Flat Plane crankshaft V8 and not a more well known Cross Plane crankshaft V8. Flank Plane V8 s nowadays are more commonly found in Ferraris and have the more unusual smooth drone that us American V8 car owners are used too. Flat Plane V8s like these Sherman Tank engines are actually two four cylinder inline engines sharing a common crankshaft while the more familiar Cross Plane V8s have a 90 degree crankpin configuration while Flat Plane V8s use the rare 180 degree crankpin configuration like a typical straight-4.

@@vitoscaleta439 Tiger 1H most of a time don't afraid and think that they can bully my jumbo 75 lol big mistake. Best fight vs tigers was then 3 tigers rushed and I got 3x kill strike, they didn't understood what wiped them out :D Love jumbos 75 and 76 awesome tanks.
