This makes me so pissed. I remember being listening to the news when she disappeared and was so relieved when she returned. I knew people thought it was a hoax from the beginning but I was SO sure it was real. I mean who turns up branded, beaten, and with obvious weight loss and hasn’t had something horrible happen. I know it doesn’t really affect me but I feel betrayed! She took resources away from REAL victims and wasted everyone’s time, for what?!

I mean...she'd already hoaxed in the past. That's a pretty huge warning sign right there. Plus every other aspect didn't match with any previous cases; like everything was strange, from the motive (none) of the "kidnappers", the fact they were both women (extremely rare to unheard-of) they fact that they let her go, the lack of transparency etc etc. The police were very coy and seemed uninterested in catching the culprits and barely gave updates or asked much for the tips from the public. And I must say, people, including those who doubted her story, behaved with restraint, or at least the people in the forums I encountered. So there's that to be hopeful of, I guess.

She planned the whole thing.. She knew exactly what she was doing. She also took money that was meant for real victims, after the fact. She should have to pay that back and pay for the cost of the entire investigation. This was a crime. Just like any other crime. She should have to serve some time in jail for it. It wasn't the first time she's committed a crime. Her personality disorder, if she has one, shouldn't be a reason to go easy on her. A fair trial, or a plea, whatever the courts decide, is fine.

The fact that she used the money for counseling is intriguing. I wonder what the therapist notes look like or if they became privy to what was happening. Could she have confessed to her crimes and it have been kept confidential? Or did she continue with her charade for attention? Could a judge demand that her new treatment facility see her old records? Hmmmm…..

She would have spent most of the time "reconnecting" with her ex-boyfriend, that's why she told the police her abductors were 2 Hispanic women and that she wasn't sexually assaulted. This way there were no vaginal or anal swabs and no incriminating DNA. She's diabolical and needs to do some jail time, she wasted police time, resources and tax payer money.

This happened in my community. We were horrified and frightened that something like this could occur in our community. I-5 runs through the center of our county, and our thoughts were of human trafficking. So many gave their time to search for her. The law enforcement that Dedicated many man hours in all this took precious time and money away from other cases. The entire community wanted answers. As time went on things didn't add up and it was noticeable what was not being said by the sheriff, etc. People that knew her history began to speak up and become more vocal about what kind of person they believed her to be. My kids went to school with both her and her husband. The overwhelming majority believe her husband to be innocent and not complicit in any way. There were expenses incurred in searching for his wife, and those expenses were allowed to be covered by the funds provided. As a community, we are hurt and angry for what she did. However, most have compassion for what she has put her family through. She needs to be prosecuted to the fullest extent.

I just watched Dr. Grande's FIRST video on this around a year ago, it's incredible how spot on your instincts were on this case, it really shows how great you are at truly reading people and situations, I found it Amazing how right you were even with all the "seeming" evidence she actually had been kidnapped- your "What COULD HAVE HAPPENED" was like a play by play of how it really DID happen, it's just extremely impressive! You need to be "Detective Grande" as well as Dr. Grande! A lot more crimes/mysteries would be solved in a quick and correct fashion if you were! This was such a twisted thing to do on her part, but so amazing how eerily accurately you figured it out a long time ago, before the REAL story with proof came out. Just keep being you! ❤️

As for Sherri's sentence, I agree that prison is not needed for non-violent offenders, but probation and counseling only satisfy the deterrence and rehabilitation aspects. Sentences should achieve three ends: (1) correction of the offender through both punishment and rehabilitation ("stick" and "carrot"); (2) recompense to the victim(s); and (3) deterrence of future crimes. Her sentence should also include components of punishment and recompense, e.g., repayment of the fraudulent financial gains and police expenses plus a fine and some period of home confinement and community service to give her time to contemplate her actions and repay the community.

If he did have sex then denying is an offense of giving false information to a police officer. @@danielstapler4315 I didn't say him having sex with her is a crime. Don't put words in my mouth. The thing is, he was aware of her location when there was a missing person's case going on and didn't readily come forward with the information he had. That strikes me as somebody who is not very honest. If he's not honest about that, then he probably isn't honest about a lot of other things in this case since he's already involved and has every reason to wanna protect his reputation at this point. Sleeping with a married woman isn't a crime, but doing it with a girl who is also in hiding during an active investigation to her whereabouts does make you look really bad and could alienate you from your peers who would be turned off by the lack of ethics. And his DNA was on her underwear. That's pretty damning.
