+Charlotte Malone she doesn't have a reason because it's common sense. in this culture men wear suits and woman wear dresses. she's simply protecting her child from bi-curious behavior. behavior is learned from the parents(nurture). when a child is taught they are imprinted. for instance a spoiled child will always be selfish and needy. by letting a male put on a dress. that is saying this behavior is ok for you to NOW entertain. the idea that people are born to be what they will become by genetics alone, is short sighted. you mold your child into the person they will become. not necessarily that the behavior might turn someone gay but because to be a man this is the behavior you need in life to find your opposite because opposites attract. kids and adults express themselves with art and creativity. not with their identity.

It's not some disorder where a kid just wants to dress like the opposite sex, the children have to show clearly that they truly believe they are meant to be another sex. It takes years to get the actual diagnosis, and then more years to be eligible for surgery. No worries.

@taurusclimber12 жыл бұрын
If everyone had taken that stance in the early 1900's, women would be restricted to wearing dresses and skirts. If there is a problem with public perception, people just need to change their opinions. It's happened before, it will happen again. Fear and judgement comes from ignorance, so if more people express themselves and make themselves known, the public will adapt.

It doesn't matter because he's a child and doesn't understand cross dressing at this point in his life. It also doesn't matter because at school, especially with children that age, the teacher is basically the mother for the day. The solution to these types of problems is for society to accept that gender (such as transgender situations) and sexuality lie on spectrums, not fixed points. It's true that most men are differnent from most women, but that doesn't mean their different across the board or that we should limit people who are different in major ways. These are not all-or-nothing senarios. It won't spell the downfall of society--just one where everyone is better able to get ahead based on effort and merit.

And I'm sorry if I offended you, but it still stands that you would be in the place of elderly women who disapprove of girls wearing pants today.

@NWKklown Playing with dolls does not make a child gay. Neither does cuddling or giving affection. People used to believe that boys who were hugged too much or allowed to speak of their feelings would grow up to be gay, that is totally debunked now. @Exilewilliams16 жыл бұрын
She just believes in gender roles. That's not homophobia. I am a gay male who believes in gender roles for myself. But I may just take issue with someone's lifestyle behavior in my house, which she perfectly has a right to object to. The point about the kilt and the skirt is that dresses and skirts are only girls clothing because we consider it girls clothing culturally. In a veil of ignorance, a boy wearing a dress wouldn't breach any gender roles because dresses aren't objectively feminine. So if the boy is too young to really understand the connotations of clothing, then wearing a dress doesn't say anything about him.

Appropriate roles of gender? What do you mean by this statement? Just curious =)
