I bought a root slayer and it arrived yesterday. Best tool ever. I'm in my late 70's , have a yard full of old massive trees and roots and was able to transplant two large boxwoods with ease. 3 of my heirloom chrysanthemums are in their 2nd year and 4 in their 1st. All are covered with buds and French Vanilla are blooming. They haven't been bothered at all by pests but will check for yellowing.

Once again, I've been schooled. Geat video. 👏👏👏👏 This was like watching a virtual encyclopedia on heirloom mums. I've never grown them. I've never propagated anything. Now my interest is tweeked. However I did plant 6 garden mums in ground last year. They bloomed this past spring and then I followed Amanda's video instructions about cutting them back, twice. Grreat success. They have multiplied and spread out. Over the last 4 weeks I've liquid fertilized and kept watered. Now they have healthy bloom buds. A few are beginning to open. Thanks Amanda. You gave me the confidence to try this. 🎉🎉. Also has anyone ever told you, you would make a great teacher? I would know because I Homeschooled one of my children from K to 7th grade. I started from scratch 😊.

Enjoyed the video! I’m excited to see what blooms this fall for me… I do have to say that bluestone has outperformed kings mums this year and some of the plants are 3’ tall already! 🌸you def inspired me this year with this new cut flower 🌺

Bluestone Perennials definitely sends more established plants … hence the price point!

I found that I could remove my weed barrier by adding mulch and also weeding right after a big flush of weed sprout after a rain. This actually worked after a few times. Now I have very few weeds in those beds.

Glad for this update on the mum project! My first mum did not come back from last winter. I think it was too wet so I'm going to try a new spot. Once I find the right spot I'll collect some more. Philly PA z7.

🌸 thank you for the propagation video for chrysanthemums. I got mine from botanical Gardens this past spring and they are doing amazing loaded with buds just waiting for them to open. I’m definitely going to go out and harvest a few branches to propagate question is should I wait for them to bloom first, or just go ahead and do it now? Thanks, Amanda.

When propagating do you use the humidity domes?
@shesamadgardener2 ай бұрын
I do not … I always remove humidity domes once seeds germinate and show their green … since these already have their leaves, no need for the humidity dome … it would cause more harm than good.

So you don’t put the cuttings under a dome? What about lights?

I do not put them under a dome. I put them under my grow lights. Typically for 12-16 hours a day.
