I've ALLLLWAYS wanted to see Harry's face in this game! That's so interesting what they did. But I guess it makes sense, considering they reused Angela's head as well at the beginning. Makes me think they chose not to show his face just so they wouldn't have to model it haha

4:53 Loading maps in chunks doesn't mean a game is poorly optimized, if anything that means the developers actually cared about optimization. Geometry that is drawn, but not seen is a complete waste of rendering time so dividing the town into chunks in a game with thick fog is a very good move on the developers and it's highly unlikely the game could have run or looked as well as it does rendering bigger areas at once. and it also reduces the need for loading screens
@AlessaBaker6 жыл бұрын
Was just about to say this - in fact, as far as I can tell this was one of the first Silent Hill games to have levels directly placed in quads and seamless (UV/Normals) where previous games often had several areas on the same map but with large black spaces between them - each one was streamed in and out between transitions (doors). The SH Franchise is one of the most well optimized, where a relatively small level has an immense amount of detail. Team Silent knew what they were doing

Honestly impressed with the little things Shesez gets wrong given his line of work on YT. From constantly claiming LODs are a way of optimizing memory usage (they take up more memory - they're only for framerate optimization) to claiming SH is poorly optimized... honestly.
@skumomcbee12555 жыл бұрын
The thing is... Silent Hill fog loading is the definition of optimization... An un-optimized game loads things that you cannot see forcing higher rendering. Unless you make the case that the constant loading of new textures is poor optimization.

I'm glad you shortened the intro. The weirdly long, over-explained version in the last few videos was a definite step down from the snappy, concise original intro. I don't quite understand why it was changed unless you got some feedback that viewers didn't understand what was happening. And I wish I had mentioned this a few videos ago, but personally I would love to see longer episodes if you have the footage! Don't feel like you need to always have commentary for every moment if the video speaks for itself. To me it felt like the last ten or so Boundary Breaks ended very abruptly when there was still more to see, and the chances of you returning to the same game is very low. I know KZbin analytics prefer shorter videos to longer ones, but I enjoy every second of Boundary Break and more of it can be nothing but a good thing! Does anyone else agree?

There's nothing odd about not showing Harry's face. That how all three silent hills were, faces of the dead were never shown... and it kind of ruined the moment a bit when the HD collection allowed Harry's to be seen. It was all apart of the unknown and the mystery of it all.
