I love them so much. So inspiring to see women...black women in a field that I only saw white women dominate coming up. I had the pleasure of meeting Tavia and was so blown away. She was so pleasant and nice! She spoke with me as if she knew me and not as someone bothering her. It completely made my birthday weekend!

My thoughts exactly when I first came across Tavia and Monet online. They do amazing work and are really approachable.

I am a 47 years old and always meant to be a designer (I know this with every fiber of my body). Sadly, when I was going into college he starting my career I was pushed into another field that was seen as “more stable” and “good career for being a mom”. So I’m a little late to the game, but shows like yours are inspirational and informative as I try to forge a place in the design world as an older woman. Thank you!

It's amazing how ID as a career has been so foreign to our community - I had a round about entry very similar to Tavias and Monets experience. Kudos to you ladies!!!

I Love, Love, Love this interview. Big up Jamaica. First of all because I am a mixed Jamaican it's good to see my people prosper, but as a designer that worked for high end cabinet companies in New York City for a long time and starting my own design firm and struggling in a new area is difficult. It is refreshing to see an unpretentious representation of what we do. HGTV is great but it doesn't truly show the stressors we deal with on a regular basis; building a business, timeframes, unseen structural issues, branding and marketing. It was great to hear real responses where a lot of interviews seem contrived. It helped me better mentally handle going from known in the city to nobody where I'm at. Thank you.

This is awesome! I'm quite impressed with the success. I have a question about your design team. I was wondering how you acquired such a large team. Are they actually employed exclusively to your company or are they designers who are available to use while they also work for themselves or other companies?
