He's not missing the lifts at 140 though. It's intentional. There's stability in the catch position and then he lets it go forward immediately. However he did look a little in pain tho

How is making a world record “having his worst day”? Repeating the same weight several times in warm would normally be seen as a bit concerning but he may always do that. They may have been slowing the warm up down to time his first attempt better depending on what others did on the platform.

Would be interested to hear about his upbringing if you know any of his backstory. I get the sense he had a lot of doubters or maybe self-doubt at some point because he just looks pissed at the world after he makes his competition lifts. Like he's saying with his eyes "you didn't think I could do it?! f you!" Perfect compliment to Lu's vibe. Love these guys. Thanks for the videos, they are awesome.

I don't think he was in bad shape, we've seen Lu drop the bar too before getting up during the snatch warmup. I think they do it to save energy, kinda like half reps which also helps with warmup. Then again, I could be wrong.

Is he missing those reps or just letting them go once he catches in the bottom? I’ve seen a lot of lifters do that to conserve energy but I can’t tell whether that’s his tactic here or whether he’s genuinely missing because he’s not in shape

Because the three words Ta Ma De are unclean words. They have been included in the dictionary. Therefore, there is a legal basis for prohibiting use. WOCAO is a recent new innovation and popular word, which is not yet included in the dictionary. So nobody cares.

Crossfit coaches be like "Ok we're gonna start with sets of 15 snatches as explosive as possible with X weight, when you finish the snatch you do 10 burpees, that's 1 set. We have to do as many sets as possible in 15 minutes, then we rest for 1 minute and do another round." This video was shot from an angle that you can't really see how small the cubicle they warmed up in was. It was barely wider than the length of a barbell. Completely different situation than the open training hall they usually had. He said something like feeling dizzy not having enough air. Shi could be lowkey claustrophobic.

He definitely missed that first 140, but he is intentionally "missing" a lot of these instead of standing up as to not fry his legs. Those 150s were very much "made" before he dropped them.
