How long did you soak your pieces in? I have tried numerous times to get your results from the pole/ruching and it only comes out half done and I’ve soaked it for 5 hours using a light color dye.

Hi there I used Rit dye (indigo colour) with salt and washing up liquid and hot water left to soak for anything up to 1 hour depending on how well I think the fabric is taking. It's worth knowing that the various fabrics take very differently. I think I used a polyester/cotton fabric in this video whereas in my tea towel video using the pipe again but this time I used 100% cotton fabric. I've also found that using Rit Colourstay fixative is really helpful. Ah and also make sure that the string is pulled really tightly.

I just found your channels. These are beautiful works and I cannot wait for my dye to get here to start playing.
