Aloha my brother. I always enjoy whenever you go on your walking tours around Tokyo. I'm amazed at how often things change there. Thank you for taking us around despite the rain.

I’m so glad you joined me, rainy walks are more fun with the family. I’m always amazed at how Shibuya is changing, for the better. More space, easier to navigate.

We are back to NJ. We enjoyed our 5-day stay in Tokyo. It was a nice way to end a 10-day cruise around Japan.

We had some really crazy crowds in Seattle this year a few weeks ago when ours bloomed. I imagine its like that anywhere they're around. I remember the tree-lined canals in Kyoto being especially beautiful.

After watching this video, we went there after shopping and had photos taken with Hachiko and the two Sakura trees. Thanks for the timely information. We are going back to New York tomorrow. Thank you.😊

WHOA! Sharp dressed man!!! What a difference a day makes, sunshine during your last post and now rain. I saw the earthquake news about Taiwan and wondered if Japan was impacted and it sounds like it was. Hoping those who were impacted are okay. 🙏 PS: What is the story about the carts? How are they driving in the streets???!!! How is that legal? 😮

Thanks! For the news and interesting places to visit around Japan. Our Group from Hawai’i stayed at thr Excel Hotel in Shibuya on March 18 to the 21st. Got a couple of poses at the statue! Enjoy a cup of Joe!

Looking great John, it suits you 😅 There’s some really nice Ramen with GF Karaage just up the road RHS of 109 , Frank from 5am Ramen took us. Mika Moo and I went on the Karts at night, they take you under the train tracks near Seibu Shibuya Station- the same underpass in the Midnight Diner intro. The sudden realisation of where I was from that perspective is now a special moment I won’t forget easily.

How often does it rain in Tokyo these days? Btw which weather forecast would you suggest to check the weather in Tokyo?

It's still doing a rain/snow mix here. That darn rodent from Philadelphia lied to us about an early spring. 😢 But your lovely postcard did provide a bright spot into this dreary weather. 🌸 🌸

Will be there in about a month. 😁 Finally making it to Japan. I'll be there first week of May, for 9 days. Yes, smack in the middle of Golden Week.. 😂 I was wondering why the hotel prices were higher compared to a week earlier, but the return flight was a LOT cheaper so I went with that, and saved money overall. Even so - Japan does look really expensive from a South East Asian point of view. Hotels cost about three times what they cost here. I anticipate spending 2000 yen, more or less, on food a day (that includes onigiri for lunch) - that's around RM65, quite a bit of money. One problem I am going to have - the plane arrives at Haneda around 11pm, right before the last trains - my idea was to spend the night at Terminal 3 and catch the early morning train. I'm actually going to spend the first 5 days in Kanagawa - mainly Fujisawa, with one night in Shonandai (the hotel's breakfast buffet looks nice, with shirasu on the menu). I will be using the Enoden a lot (all-day tickets are 800 yen), and will be visiting Kamakura, Enoshima and points in between (some of those train stops featured in a couple movies I've seen). Tokyo hotels cost 50% more than those in Fujisawa, I've found. Fujisawa also has a Donki, and a (smallish) Book-Off, both of which I plan to visit. Looking forward to the nama-shirasu.. wonder what that tastes like. And uni.

Just saw Hachiko with the blooms today, first place I came to after arriving at Haneda. Btw, did anyone feel the earthquake (Sendai 6.1)? I clearly felt the building I was in sway. 4/4 at 12:15 Tokyo time.

Where do the commercial Sakura blossoms get harvested, for all those blossom food and gifts?

Looks like these "scramble crossings" are getting popular - there's one in KL in Bukit Bintang. Nowhere near as big as this one though, or as busy.

I heard they will move the dog statue from there, they will put somewhere close on a second floor.

Every so often I notice banners or beads around the Hachiko statue. Is it from political or religious groups? The police should be aware of this and take them down, the visitors still pose but I would be annoyed. Does anyone know who puts these on the statue?
