Imagine the Commander game where Aminatou trades lands as well. Everyone would have the wrong lands to cast their spells unless they just happened to have sources of the right color. I think there’s a reason they went with “non-land”.

I've played with Aminatou enough in Commander (love her synergy in my Yennett "All Odd Cards" EDH deck) that a common thing I find myself doing with her is floating mana with a land and then minusing with her to flicker the land since that ability can hit any other permanent you own. It's niche, but sometimes it can be useful to go up one mana for the turn like that (usually the turn after I first played her).

Its been awhile since I've played on MTGO, but I think you can right-click: Undo to redo your Ponder. Not 100% sure though.

Look, I love a value-engine planeswalker as much as the next guy, but Aminatou was "look at the top card of your deck" 90% of the time, the rest being a card to pitch to force and solitude. I think a different planeswalker would be better in that slot, even someone as Ashiok game-ender (unfortunately doesn’t pitch to solitude tho) would probably be better.

Would be cool to see a combo version with felidar guardian or spark double since they provide infinite ETB and LTB triggers together. would just need some sort of altar of the brood to mill them out. probably too janky. but jank =good click bait content right?

wasteland, dead card when u dont have wasteland for the most part without the miracle support (edit--- if u watch the cloudpost match u can really see the struggles of aminatou and how underpowered she is. hard to cast, isnt card advantage, ult is pretty meh except in extremely niche situations)

The long and short is, if I wanted an esper card to cast esper elementals, I would get the card Esper Charm, since draw 2 is just much better than what Aminatou provides in a vacuum.

⁠​⁠@@7218234I think you may misunderstand, the original companion mechanic had you casting your companion directly from the sideboard. Due to this, your companions could not be thoughtsiezed away. I agree that the sentiment of the original commenter that the changed mechanic is stronger is incorrect.

Chances of the solitude poker in the opening hand are 0.00221% or 1 in 45249. So you should be good for your next 45248 Yorion games (other pokers can occur tho) :)

abt the one ring thing at the very end of g1 m1, isnt keeping the new one better? still draws you three cards by the end of next turn cycle, and while it falls behind by one after that i feel like ur just drawing so many cards that you done care

1:36:45 If you cast bowmaster to eat that bauble instead of Solitude, you have a 2/2 to exile for life off of solitude and you end up at 1 on the last turn. And if they kill bowmaster instead of solitude with Unholy Heat, then your solitude eats a lightning bolt (probably) and you don't die to the bolt and you have that 1 extra turn to get Teferi into play

I love Aminatou! The best she ever performed for me was with Astrolabe so you always had a flicker card advantage engine. Supposed to not see a green base with Abundant Growth

The "Aminatou +" effect doesn't have a clean name, but it's also not an especially bad form of card selection compared to Scry or Surveil etc, people enjoy spinning Sensei's Divining Top. It just is kind of poor at 1 and there's no option to naturally get out of the "lock" so you need a secondary way to shuffle etc. Calling it a "fateshift" feels natural, because that's her epithet (and we call Jace's +2 "fateseal" even though it can scry etc). But yeah, anything else with a similar effect will either cantrip or go deep enough that you don't get locked. The effect is the weakest card selection in a vacuum, but the most powerful if you can shuffle away trash from your hand.

I feel like Orcish Bowmasters is justified for banning in legacy. The number of decks that are splashing black for *just* bowmasters is *staggering*. Maybe its a meta thing but its godawfully present in the format, and decks splashing black for just bowmasters isnt healthy imp, especially with the "best answer to bowmasters is a bowmasters"

I am getting so tilted by the reserved list lately. A tournament where you could use poxies for reserved list cards that happend every 2 months closed down. This made me realice that i cant find a legacy deck that is not using at least 3 duals that looks remotely fun. I have a huge modern collection and got the non reserved list legacy cards like brainstorm, force of will and stuff like uro from back in the day but every deck i look at plays a minimum of 1500€ of dual lands. I would love to play temur rhinos again like i did in those tournament but 2 volcs 2 trops and 1 taiga or over 2000€... With all the controversial stuff wizards is doing lately they finaly should get rid of this fucking list... Yes, i could play some linear strategy like burn. But i hate all-in decks/ combo. Another option is Shadow but that deck plays 1-2 Underground Sea the most expensive dual. I feel lost. Can somebody help me? 😢

Replace half of the dual lands with shock lands (or the new Surveil lands, depending on what you want to build), maybe? I mean, I feel the pain. I literally can't play a brew that I was tinkering with because City of Traitors is stupidly expensive and I was too busy learning multiplication in grade school to bother getting them when they were new.
