Shifter: Bye Bye

Hey Kids,
My time at KZbin has come and gone. I'm not slamming the door, but I don't have any plans to post here regularly ever again. My online life will transfer back to Shifter.media where all things Dan will thrive. I will continue to make films. Hopefully, these films will be longer, better, and more meaningful. These future films will be hosted on Vimeo and posted on Shifter.media. I plan to FINALLY begin sending an email newsletter to teach others how to do the same because when it comes to selling books, there is nothing better than a serious newsletter database. (Many people come to me for help selling their books.)
My primary delivery mechanism will be stills and copy. My first love. If you take a look at the post from two days ago, the post regarding documentary photography vs street photography, you will see and read the kind of thing I'm most happy sharing. However, although photography is important, it ain't the only thing, so I will also continue to post things that I feel will make all of us better human beings.
The only benefit of KZbin is YOU. You have made this worthwhile for me. Hopefully, we remain amigos and I see you at Shifter. Thank you! Siempre juntos.

Hmm surprised yet not surprised. I’m somewhat impressed with myself as I haven’t been on KZbin to see this headline until 4 months after it posted. Necessary move for the Dan I think. Paradox here is although you might come to KZbin as a refreshing outsider, eventually you become one of the very dopes you’re pointing to. Your time here was perfect for what it needed to be. Thanks for addressing some questions and comments and hope to see you in better spaces! I myself am going to borrow some of your inertia and minimize my life scope to the things I should be doing in this moment. I used to have a mentor that talked about kicking penguins off the iceberg. I never knew exactly what it meant but I think it’s in the same vein…

Chocolate makers use a machine called a chocolate enrober to cover fillings with chocolate. :) My daughter apprenticed in a chocolate shop Also I love the toilet guy- some old guy with the same old model of toilet who showed me exactly how to replace the flush valve and, even better, he had the part number which I was able to buy on Amazon. But the best was the 11 yr old boy on you tube who demonstrated all the features of my newly purchased cable release when I was a noob. So grateful to that kid and the toilet guy.

Thanks for your shot of reality. Just when I thought being a film photographer was something special you sent me crashing to earth - it's not the medium, it's only about the photo. Harsh and just what I needed. I totally get your perspective. It's just why I ditched my digital camera and now I just do film. Digital was my distraction. I was taking the shot with both film and digital for 'insurance' and compromising both. The result was I was becoming a master of nothing .Focus and Less becomes More. Cheers and best regards. I like your idea about reading a book every time I think about going to YT. I think I'll try that. Sad news. I'll definitely have to check out your site. I haven't been inspired since photography school and shortly after when Zack Arias was a mentor of mine for a short period back in the late 90s /early 2000's. You and your channel have really lit a fire in me with my photography. I've also decided to start creating content on KZbin because of you. Man, much respect, you are an artist and a guide, i will buy the books, i spend all day in this cr@p, you just remind me i have left all this before, in fact all the gear choices make anxious too much anxious.... Im about to start a masters degree in digital communications, and I want to employ social media for the sake of my business and my clients, other than that im cutting that too, thisnyear i want to grow. My wife is obviously short tempered as compared to yours and even after 15 years I'm not trying out this game 😉 I appreciate your videos and the inspiration that goes with, so thank you for that and I guess you're right. I love KZbin. There's a wealth of info from cool people on every subject. Kind of like podcasts. Of course there's garbage out there, but you just have to curate what you ingest, subscribe to cool dudes like Daniel, and limit your intake. It can be hard, though. And it always sucks to see people get popular for the wrong reasons. But, to me, that's not what KZbin is. Ignore that stuff. Finding the small channels that do it for the passion is where it's at. Sorry to see you go, Daniel. Best of luck.
