This is my second Mahindra Scorpio Sold 1st one at 350 000km, it's still running now 8 years later Second one now at 200 000, clutch slave cylinder had to be replaced so decided to do the whole clutch kit. There was virtually no wear on the clutch. Fantastic car, mine is just 2x4, went all the way to Mana Pools after HEAVY rains, never got stuck anywhere, except for at the office, slipping on the grass!!! Fuel consumption is 13km/l on both cars, driving everywhere, mostly keeping at around 110km/h Super happy with them

I have the earlier version in single cab, has 470,000Km on the clock and still as strong as ever. Going for the new S6Double Cabin Later this year. It may not be as refined like a Hilux but has a character which grows on you. Its able to hold a steady speed even under heavy load. Its Sitting position beats every other pickup truck as you are in a kinda upright with knees folded position really high up its good for long distance driving

I've owned an S6 double cab 4x4 version. I'm smitten... I've owned, driven and trained on nearly every 4x4 bakkie or SUV in South Africa. This machine was a very pleasant surprise. For the price it really offers incredible value for money. It evokes the same loyalty and owner enjoyment as a , dare I say, Landrover. Very hapy with my choice and still haven't got stuck where others have...

Happy Karooing to all who bought it. It's a Rugged Machine. The 2.2 L CRDI is a proven one. It's called M Hawk in India by M&M. The BS6 version is used on the New Generation THAR, which has 12 months waiting period and so far more than 55000 Thars have been booked. This Thar has a front Diff lock using brake it is known as Torque Vectoring. One can feel the sound of engaging and disengaging of the front Diff lock.

The Mahindra Karoo series and pikup series as a whole come standard with the highly effective Eaton mechanical auto locking diff lock. It's the best I have ever experienced. I love my Mahinď Karoo, a breath of fresh are with great loading, offloading and long distance cruising speeds. You didn't have to engage low range on the obstacle because the diff lock was inat 2km's/h without any action neding to be taken. This means traction is maintained until 4x4 inflow range needs engaging. Plenty of torque available low down around 1100 rpm to 2800 rpm wheel it makes the vehicle very effective to operate. I love mine!!!

Thanks for replying to my comment. This vehicle is fitted with 2.2 L 4 cylinder Common Rail Direct Injection system of either Bosch or Delphi TVS. The rated Detuned output as per Govt of India regulation is 138 BHP and 320 NM torque at the engine output. This torque figure at the wheels when 4 Low is engaged will be 800NM divided equally at all the 4 wheels. This is also fitted with a EATON MLD ie Mechanically Locking Differrential, that will engage if one of the wheel is in the air and other wheel stuck. Oncethe wheelnot in contact with ground and reaches 200RPM rpm, due to centrifugal action transferred the entire torque of that wheel to the stuck one and easily releases it. It is fitted in my M&MTHAR Crde at the rear wheel.I t is working very well. This 2.2 CRDI engine by 1st stage remapping the ECU without any change of parts can Acheive up to 170 BHP and 400 NM torque. I tried it in my TATA XENON XT 4x4 having a 2.2 Ltr Variable Gometry turbo achieving higher bio and Torque. Pl see if anyone can do it at your end.. For my THAR I have fitted Dieseltronics piggy ride on Original ECU with 4 options Economy, Stock, Power 1, Power 2 actuated by a RFID remote.. As far as the 2.2 L engine you can easily get 14kmpl, when in Overdrive gear ie 5th gear at 90-100kmph maintaining a RPM of 2000. Please try with full tank to empty a couple of times and you will Acheive these figure on a Manual. On an Automatic max you can get will be around 12kmpl on highway as its a Torque convertor setup, which straightaway reduces the effeciency by 10%. Torque Converter is the best Auto transmission and lasts long. You will have to change the fluid once every 70000kms. Happy motoring👍👍👍🙏🙏🙏🙏 My mail I'd is 4x4cj3b1964@gmail.com Regards Ganeshram

@@Africasideways TATA & Mahindra both are at par when it comes to built quality. These are only two brand currently in india that scores highest in GNACP safety ratings for all their products. Both the companies make vehicles for Indian Army for the toughest terrain and the highest altitude warfare place in the world thats in India. TATA & MAHINDRA both have focused on the reliability and built and long life since the beginning and have refined the products over the decades. The earlier engines and the latest engines are world apart now as the latest engines of both are now reliable mile munchers with pocket friendly nature. You can go with any brand and you wont regret. Now you asked somewhere about how many kilometers you can expect out of this engine. Ans: if you maintain the vehicle with care like any man that loves his vehicle, it should atleast last you 300000 to 350000 kilometers. Which can go up depending on the care taken.

I hear many of the comments about value for money and that the Mahindra is tough etc. I would agree but having owned the Mahindra 2.2l turbo they called the flagship D/C 4x4. If you want a vehicle for delivery on the road and you are not going to be driving the vehicle and you are never going to sell it great. The Mahindra has the worst resale value of any other vehicle in South Africa. The Mahindra and this was from brand new one day the radio works the next day it does not. In other words the electronics have problems. I took it in several times to Mahindra they say everything is working but the same problem I finally just accepted it. I am leaving the best for last. As mentioned for delivery on the road with a driver no problem. But I purchased the Mahindra for its off-road capacity. I was told and the way Mahindra market the value as work hard play hard and they compare it to the Toyota or Ford but the Toyota, Ford, Nissan, Isuzu, GWC or whatever it is called if you take any other brand of vehicle to a 4x4 upgrade centre and tell them you would like to increase the clearance? I guarantee you can increase the clearance in any other brand of vehicle plus you can fit larger tyres or just change the tyre from a road to a dual road/off-road or mud tyre. I am no expert but I honestly believe clearance and decent tyres for me are the basics without or let me say with 100% road tyres and around 200mm clearance. Mahindra claim 210mm but lust like manufacturers call their highest speed or 0-100km is may be a little generous. In other words the Suzuki has clearance of about 8.1 inches. Anyone who has any experience off-road would tell you if you are planning to do any type of adventure driving or off-road you would need more than 200mm of clearance. I have watched many videos on KZbin and in most reviews of the Suzuki Jimmy the first thing they do is increase the clearance and fit new tyres. Then that little 4x4 can survive or you can actually go off-road. Otherwise the Suzuki 4x4 is great for a city with limited parking you can park on the pavement etc. But no one who wants to drive off-road and I do not mean a sand road that any 2x4 vehicle can manage at a slow speed. I managed to go further in the old Transkei of some rough dirt roads with stones and bumps with 4 adults in a Toyota corolla entry level then with the brand new Mahindra flagship. OK understand not all 4x4 vehicles have diff-locks excuse spelling and jargon. I guess only the leading 4x4 vehicles have 1 or 2 diff-locks and even some decent 4x4 vehicles only have single diff-locks and some even have automatic diff-lock. But unless the vehicle has a real fantastic automatic diff-lock it I believe can be dangerous if the diff-lock is automatic when the vehicles electronics and components in general are so cheap that as mentioned sometimes the radio works sometimes it does not because when you are driving on a tar road over 60km/h on the highway and the diff locks - it just locks. I thought the vehicle was going to turn over. I understand and dont expect all 4x4 vehicles to have 1 or 2 manual diff-locks but the vehicle can still handle many 4x4 trails and or adventure driving etc. But in hindsight without enough clearance and with 100% on road tyres you are not going to get far. You will also more than likely damage critical components under the vehicle. Even if you take a factory or standard Toyota Hilux or Ford with I guess 260mm of clearance besides an extra fuel filter and extending the air intake or adding a filter plus the drainage thing on the 4x4 diffs or I said I was not an expert actually I am not even a beginner thanks to Mahindra. However I have heard a company I think in Pietermaritzburg in creating or welding steel bull-bars, roll bars and other good-looking extras for Mahindra. I did have the bull-bar fitted and was planning on the other items but I was not looking for a vehicle that looks like it is a off-road 4x4 vehicle. You can have all those items fitted for the driver who is going to delivery items across South Africa like a delivery van but on the road. It may even make a delivery to a small holding that has a dirt road of a few hundred metres to get to the property or delivery point. But this is not a 4x4 that can go off-road. I wish this was not true but I learned the hard way when the sales man saw me coming a mile away. Everything or the reason I wanted the vehicle I told the salesman and whatever I said I wanted to do to the vehicle he told me exactly what I wanted to hear. If you do not believe me or if you just want a delivery vehicle for your driver or maybe you have a boat and you want to tow it and it meets the weight restrictions as long as you never want to launch it from a 4x4 or slippery or off-road location great. If you do not believe me please first go to any 4x4 upgrade centre and ask you if they can lift the vehicle by 1 mm and ask them or go to any tyre place and ask them for off-road, sand or dual off-on road tyres ask them for the same size or 1mm bigger tyres as bigger tyres also increase the clearance. Without the clearance and decent tyres the Mahindra is a joke. I mean as a off-road vehicle! Anyone who buys the Jimny excuse spelling who is wanting to use it off-road will immediately or eventually if they are lucky enough not to have already damaged the vehicle increase the clearance even if its a small amount and will fit if not a bigger tyre a tyre that has a little better grip off-road. The beauty about the Suzuki is you can increase the clearance and you can fit larger /off-road tyres. If you could do the same to the Mahindra I would not be writing this. But no one will tell you this fact. I asked Mahindra and the salesman told me he would increase the clearance by 2-3 inches in his workshop all lies. He said and he charged me for bigger tyres or dual on/off road tyres. He knew very well that if you do anything to the tyres including fitting a tyre that is 1mm bigger or 1mm smaller or a tyre that is not 100% for road use only you lose your 5 year warranty. If the 4x4 centre or Mahindra say yes you can adjust the clearance or increase the clearance and yes you can have off-road or any other type of tyres fitted. Before you purchase the vehicle make sure they put that into the contract subject to increasing the clearance /tyres of the sale is null and void. I hope you do not make the mistake I did and if even 1 person does not have to experience Mahindra's false advertising then I am satisfied. If Google delete my comment understand Mahindra have told them that what I have said is untrue. I ask you them Google to have Mahindra SDA put this in writing that you can increase the clearance and you can fit bigger tyres. It matters not how many bull-bars or fancy spotlights - would you fit a bull-bar to your road car if you would than great. For me being able to drive off-road was the reason I purchased the vehicle based on Mahindra advertising and paid reviews. Claiming it was a vehicle that is similar to the Toyota/Ford D/C 4x4 that is exactly what it is not. I was amazed they only sold 2-4 thousand vehicles a month when Toyota/Ford/Isuzu/+++ sold I cannot remember the figures but it was a lot more I think Toyota Hilux say 20 000 vehicles. I thought wow it must be new as soon as more people realize you can get basically the same vehicle OK a little less comfortable so what the GPS is pre-android so it doesn't work like your phone or it is nothing like an Android or Apple device. I cannot explain if you were alive pre-android then you will understand. But who cares I will just use my phone that was my thinking. But 5 years later is so weird still no one has realized that you can get a vehicle that is almost identical and it cost over R50 000.00 less. I didn't understand then that I was being lied to. I didn't understand that the reason the sales where so low is because you are purchasing a totally different vehicle and even if you willing to spend R500 000.00 on the upgrade you still cannot turn a Mahindra into an off-road vehicle. with respect the the channel I would not be surprised if Mahindra is paying to have their vehicle compared to a Land cruiser. You have to ask yourself on all Mahindra videos why they never test it will off-road tyres or this Mahindra has been upgraded the clearance is 280mm it has perilla 26inch off road tyres. We see this all the time when comparing Cruiser to Hilux or Jeep vs whatever. Please try find a video with an upgraded Mahindra. There is a reason you do not I will let you guess.

That's because of 100% import duty applied by government on foreign goods. That's why 60000$ Mustang will cost to you around 100000$ in India.

Yes it is more affordable but if you want a road car great. If you want to go off-road you need more than 200mm of clearance and you need off-road tyres. The problem with Mahindra is you cannot increase the clearance by 1mm and you cannot fit 1mm bigger tyres or off-road or mud or dual/off-road/on-road tyres. The GPS is pre-android that is why it seems weird.

How long have you been driving the Mahindra? I have owned one for 5 years. Trust me or don't go buy one for off-road and you will be shocked. You cannot increase the clearance and you cannot fit any other tyres not bigger tyres not off-road tyres and if you want a vehicle for off-road you need more clearance and road tyres that are 16 inch that is it you cannot change the tyre for anything.

How about the clearance? All other SUV Pikups you can increase the clearance besides the Mahindra only has 200mm clearance while the other brands have standard clearance of about 240-270mm and you can still increase the clearance but the Mahindra you say is such a bargain I also thought so until I found out you cannot increase the clearance not even by 1mm if that is enough you said the great off road tyres you only get road tyres you cannot fit a 1mm larger/off-road or any other tyre to the Mahindra. So if you want to drive on the road great but how can you compare the Mahindra to any other 4x4 off-road vehicle when the most basic things to be a off-road vehicle the Mahindra cannot do. No Clearance no bigger tyres no off-road tyres. That is why I ask how much they paying you or you have no 4x4 - off-road knowledge or experience.

Appears you have an over-inflated idea of your knowledge base. The Mahindra Karoo has an off-road package with bigger AT tyres, increased suspension and clearance.
