This back in my Country India is known as Scorpio Getaway which didn't sell well and now is just exported to Aus, SA and other countries.... Mahindra is now entered Joint Venture with Ford India so you can expect more beautiful design in coming years....

It is appealing to our Bakkie (truck) buying farming community in South Africa, many of whom are based in and around the Karoo desert. It is purely a marketing move and a good one. Associating a car like this with an African setting makes it a bit more (psychologically) powerful for us.

As I said on another Mahindra review (Australian) I have asked dozen and dozens of people who own Scorpios / Bakkies over the last 12 or more years how is their Mahindra. NOT ONE HAS EVERY SAID A BAD WORD ABOUT ANY OF THEIR VEHICLES, NOT ONE. I do not know of any other make of vehicle that can stand up to that praise.

Almost bought one, until I test drove it. It seemed very capable, however I was right up against the door (similar to the Range Rover Defender). This is a very capable vehicle but there's no room in the cab. If your wife has hips, she'll hate it. This is a very narrow vehicle so keep that in mind. Otherwise I'd have got one.
