It's interesting how the documentary blames Russia for the coups, but not the neo-colonialism of France at 2:39. Whether or not the coups were influenced by Russia, the more important question is why France is practicing colonial policies in these areas.

Listen, I don't like Bolton and I don't specifically have interest in hearing him speak, but they have people who talk about NATO being bad, and you have people saying its good. You have differing opinions. If they only presented one side or type of opinion, it would offer less balance to arguably a complicated global issue.

Except that regional security doesn't exist in a vacuum. We live in an increasingly interconnected global system. If a cargo ship gets stuck turned sideways in the Suez Canal, it affects the prices and timelines of goods and resources the world over as it ripples outward the longer that it continues. Houthi rebels attacking cargo ships trying to pass by Yemen rapidly threatened world security, but largely through indirect means. A large reason that the US having such a mighty navy is so critical to their domestic and foreign policy is in part because their maintaining the oceans for global trade, even such as Middle Eastern oil and natural gas which by and large the US doesn't directly care about. If, however, Japan cannot receive their energy shipments then they will become more desperate and willing to spend more to obtain it elsewhere, which ripples out and causes global prices to increase, so even at home, especially then as the goods and services then start to increase in cost, and that spreads. If a war were by chance to occur between China and Taiwan, not saying it will but if, one of the first major impacts would be to the global trade market and critical shipping routes would be cut off. This would immediately impact energy shipping to Japan, South Korea, and many other nations in the region. All of the high-end technology that is produced from those countries would also have a difficult time trying to ship the other way. We saw at multiple times, from the US-China trade war that started under Trump, which caused a massive delay in shipping around the world as shipping containers started to be unavailable to make critical journeys. Then we had a global pandemic and the world shut down, making things worse. Then we had a global recession to worsen things. These are all small in scale compared to if China and Taiwan were to go to war. The amount of global trade that China is responsible for, and provides through naval shipping routes, would be heavily impacted and endangered. You would likely see the "West" sanctioning China and with the addition of the US at bare minimum in such a war, would impact people the world over. If we want peace at home in 2024, we have to be willing to seek peace globally. NATO has roughly reached the limits of this alliance's ability to adapt to the modern world and a natural evolution is coming, one that will be far more global which would likely start with our strongest and most important allies in the Pacific: Australia, New Zealand, Japan, South Korea, and Taiwan. Our nations are already greatly aligned in international affairs and if anything we need to take things to the significant next degree with greater global economic and military cooperation and merging into something more. The problems of the 21st century are not purely regional, and neither are the solutions.

Worse still. The USSR only deployed nukes in Cuba AFTER the US deployed nukes in Turkey!!
@concernedcitizens4110
@concernedcitizens4110 6 ай бұрын
Well for the context of history NATO’s missiles in Turkey is also thanks to USSR’s imperialism. After WW2 most of Western allies already disengaged but the Red Army continues to push even further to the West making them possess the largest empire in 20th century. Also Turkey is part of NATO hence there’s obligation to protect them with missiles otherwise who knows, perhaps Stalin would make his version of Soviet Afro Eurasia. As for Cuba for the entire Cold War period Cuba has never been inducted to the Warsaw Pact it’s pretty much just a ploy by the Soviets to threaten the West. I suggest you learn history before commenting.

That’s not even remotely close to the same thing. No one placed any military infrastructure in Ukraine. No missiles, let alone nukes. Not anything. This is the definition of a false equivalence. And Russia has no say in what NATO does as they are not part of NATO.

In this globalized world, it's fairly easy to export knowledge and ideas to the ones in the Global South who want to adopt some successful ways of the well-off West. (as long as they aren't hemmed in by authoritarian states' firewalls) It's much better to let the Global South decide what to do after *localizing* the possible ideas. *EVERY* place, every country, and every region differ so customization is highly preferable. For the ones in the Global South who don't want to change, the West should just leave them alone. NATO isn't suitable for everyone. It was pretty much a model of the several states of the U.S.A. arising out of our experience fighting against the British Empire to gain our independence to become a global power. This model has worked very well in the countries where the U.S.A. provided security. NATO is for "small" countries which need security guarantees. It's not for any country aspiring to become the first among equals. The U.S.A. model has been partially replicated in Europe to great success via NATO and the EU. 🎉

To me, the "Rule-Based International Order" means countries live up to their treaty obligations as best as their constitutions allow. An example: Russia violated the Budapest Memorandum to uphold Ukraine's independence, protect Ukraine's state sovereignty, and defend Ukraine's territorial integrity against all invaders. Red China agreed with the U.K. to give Hong Kong 50 years of substantially unchanged self rule for transition. Red China crushed Hong Kong's press and passed "national security" law after Mark A. Milley told Red China not to worry about Trump pressing the Big Red Button because he had rigged Trump's nuclear command, control, and communication system.

As an example of NATO's double standards, Russia, alongside Iran and the Syrian regime, slaughtered the Syrian people and committed horrific atrocities. Despite this, NATO did not provide any support to the Syrians, who could have defeated the Russians and Iranians if they had received even one percent of the aid given to the Ukrainians.

Unlike Russia and probably China, the Americans are a “rule of law” country, which means that they apply the principle of legality, including in international affairs. When the United States is replaced by China in the government of the world, it will no longer exist a negotiated and predictable international law, which has brought prosperity to the planet and brought many regions of the world out of poverty. It will be the right of the strongest and the most popular with the Chinese, who will attract all the wealth of the planet for themselves.

At 14:49, defense analyst Swasti Rao talks about how NATO is perceived in the Global South after NATO invaded Afghanistan and Iraq. But NATO never invaded Iraq. USA did, with their allies Britain, Australia and Poland. NATO never had anything to do with the invasion of Iraq. Quite the opposite, NATO opposed it, including France, Germany and Turkey. So it was never a NATO operation. Some defense analyst...

Very few people or countries think they are hypocrites or selfish. We naturally want to point at the other person or country as the problem, but we need to focus on how we can improve ourselves and stop bashing each other online. My country, the United States is far from perfect but please consider that there are many good people here that come from countries all around the world. Americans know we need to improve the system we use to choose our leaders, but we are struggling with how to accomplish this. The unnecessary wars have been a result of choosing bad leaders. Things may get worse before they get better, but please do not forget that everywhere there are good people who want things to improve.

Anybody can Google this: U.S. launched 251 military interventions since 1991, and 469 since 1798 A report from the United States Congress Research Records stated that the US launched more than 251 military interventions since 1991 to 2022 and total of 469 since the year of 1798. Yet the number of Russia's military interventions from 1991 to 2022 is only 14 but for the United States it is 251. It's ridiculous how the United States calls Russia an aggressor and they have 251 military interventions. Half of the United States military interventions were after 1991 (which was the end of the cold war) but it proves that the United States took full advantage of its military might after 1991 because of its superpower status around the planet. There wasn't another country that could stop them after the cold war. The Soviet Union put the United States on check mark to keep the world peace. So the United States was getting away with it's aggression behavior after the cold war because nobody to stop them since 1991, using the planet as its war playground. See who's the world's aggressor and who's number one after the cold war? Because it's not Russia and it's not China either. Can you guess, let's see, it's the good old United States. Nor are China or Russia have alliances in Mexico or Canada building military bases or even in South America in the United States backyard, not an inch of them near the United States but they could, think uncle Sam would like it? The US has invaded 27 countries since 1990 the end of the cold war, they have 759 bases around the world in 85 countries but not a single foreign ally or foreign country has a single military base on any US soil, ever questioned why? Again this is about the United States spreading its sphere of influence in Ukraine and in Europe. The United States has betrayed Russia in March 8, 1991 along with France Germany and Britain all promised not one inch of NATO would move East but today there's 13 post Soviet Union countries in the block and another non former Soviet Union county totalling 14 all are a violation of the non NATO expansion agreement of March 8, 1991 which is maybe not signed, but recorded, a handshake and champagne glasses all quoting to peace guaranteed by United States, France, Germany and Britain that they would not move NATO one inch east but 32 years later not so. How did that happen, it's called the global interest to surround Russia on reverse engineering of the Soviet Union move east while weak till you gain your power back. Talk about a complete betrayal, the United States is trying to police the world and for whom, you and me, bullshit it is. Let's not forget the United States has not paid any reparations to any of these countries they invaded, nor was United States sanctioned and there were no countries that funded unlimited weapons on countries the United States invaded including unlimited money to these countries in need and lastly the United States advised not to invade countries such as the United Nations and many other countries told the United States not to invade but they didn't listen but hey, who's in charge of NATO, the European Union anyway? I think we know the answer to that question. No country has bombed more countries since 1945 than the United States, no country comes even close. Yes people around the world must say no to Washingtons war crimes
