Man, this is a great interview. I kind of had to rebuild the tool in my mind over the course of the video, so really it's kind of a guess. Can I suggest giving them an opportunity to do a five minute intro to their product, or even play a short 2 minute sizzle reel before diving into specifics. It would really help viewers understand the perspective the guest is speaking from. (at their discretion, not everyone is comfortable in that scenario)
@BenoitStPierre5 ай бұрын
Absolutely loved the content! Minor production suggestion: I would consider making a more even scene with the speakers for these interview-type episodes. The hard cuts been speakers is a little jarring - this is probably why I've seen some channels have multiple smaller cam feeds with simple background graphics.

Technological advances often start with some kind of shortage. In this case you’re talking about teachers. You have 3 options. Get more teachers. Get fewer students. Create new teachers. And in this case you’re creating new teachers in the form of AI.

Many academics discussed here grapple with issues stemming from inadequate education and an overabundance of pride, particularly in their perspectives on artificial intelligence. Their struggle to recognize when they are mistaken often arises from their egos and entrenched beliefs about what AI is capable of and where its limitations lie. This unwillingness to reconsider their positions impedes their growth and stifles broader, meaningful discussions and advancements in AI. They miss opportunities for deeper understanding and collaborative progress by clinging to outdated or narrow views.

When I first started teaching in the Orwellian year, 1984, I could see the disparity in the quality of education from region to region, city to city, school to school, and classroom to classroom. I thought that with the emergence video recordings, a national standard could be achieved so that all students would receive the best education possible. Was I ever wrong. But AI in the classroom has this beat worlds over.

Thanks so much David for this interview podcast! As an accounting teacher, I've been using AI tools like Midjourney and ChatGPT since 2022. AI doesn't replace expertise, but it does enhance my learning of new subjects. 100% agree that we need to focus on using AI responsibly and develop critical thinking skills. It's exciting to see how AI is shaping education and preparing students for the future workplace. Thanks again and for sharing all your knowledge and perspective, much respect! I'm completely un-surprised by the struggle to implement in lower grades. Perfect example--horses safe for kids are way more expensive. They're not underpowered versions of a horse adults would ride, they're the same kind of animal with more reliable and safe behavior / impulses.

The whole education system should change, just make multi modal tests, the ai is trained on the classroom's content, everybody's exam is based on that same content but each are unique, we get rid of multiple choice, so either you know your stuff or you don't, you can also opt by having an oral exam where you get to have a 10min convo with the ai where you have to convince it that you understand by explaining and answering questions.

Wow. That seems like a rather silly idea. LLMs are notoriously poor at consistently understanding complex topics or following nuanced trains of thought. The last thing I'd want is for one to give exams or try to grade exams. Give it a creative task where being wrong is a feature, not a bug? Sure. Give it a task where being wrong will skew someone's grades? Nah. That's a no for me.

Excellent podcast, I am right in the middle of all of this, and experiencing gut-wrenching disappointment at the attitude of my school and other institutions involved in this country towards AI, the AI I incepted, and have pushed forwards so long ago. It is a glimmer of hope in an otherwise dark place. Again, it is the entrepreneurial spirit of predominantly American concerns that are pushing back on the nay-sayers. Unlike the country whereI reside, which is castigatingly gutless when it comes to actually bootstrapping something new...

We can definitely use AI tools to help us with many things/tasks/activities which used to take us too long to do. Like research, repetitive tasks which could be automated. Still, some caution as AI can be known to make mistakes. We shouldn't accept all wholesale. Problem is, this is Big tech's agenda to get us to adopt use of AI seamlessly into our lives that we don't question any bias until it may be too late. We still need to use our brains to analyse or check it.
