The 160 BHP double turbo diesel engine would have been ideal (either manual or 9 speed auto). I think Honda tried to play very safe by going for the lower powered (and lower cost) diesel. While the 120 BHP engine makes the CRV very under-powered, the Civic diesel, with its 300 kg weight advantage over the CRV, is still worth looking at seriously as a driver's car. Hope Honda brings in the 160HP diesel and Type-R versions next to keep Civic owners in the family with an attractive upgrade path!

The Hyundai engine is much more refined, better NVH. In the diesel territory. The Civic is a better handling car.

SHIFTING-GEARS.com yes the light weight engine block fails in NVH. Only thing I hate in my Honda wrv is cabin noise and rev noise paaaa..

Yes. The Honda diesel is very efficient. But this mileage only on long drives.

Since people are obsessed with price honda has compromised in the indian civic models . In united states honda civic has only petrol engines ranging from 150 bhp to 300 bhp including turbo charge . B.t.w c.v.t gear boxes are best to drive in bangalore traffic . Also when you purchase a car worth 20 lacs then why you think about gas mileage or maintenance cost. Let it be high . In all aspects its affordable. Civic is one of the Honda s bestseller across the globe. The reason 8th gen civic was discontinued in 2011 was the cost. So honda had to compromise with engines and other comfort features. to reduce the price .
