"Appeals more to the head than the heart" That is the most apt way of describing this one. The 8th gen really was (and still is) a gem. With the CVT, Honda has probably already lost the boy racer segment of buyers... Perhaps the manual will come in a "sport" trim or some limited edition.. or maybe not. Nothing wrong with being optimistic about it.

The Skoda Octavia 1.8L TSI with a 7 speed DSG gearbox? Sorry, but the Civic just doesn't cut it. 140bhp with a CVT vs 180bhp with a DSG. I think we have a clear winner. It all comes down to how much cheaper the Civic is than the Octavia.

Almost 95% of us drive in day to day traffic and rarely go to the twisties to push the car and we know how much of a pain the manual gearbox is in the currently ever increasing city traffic. Honda has taken the more practical step of giving only the petrol automatic because they know that even if they introduce the manual, 90% of the people who are requesting manual here will still go and buy the automatic. For a company, the stats are more important for their business. I am fine with the CVT and you should drive it in the city to know how it makes the car so effortless to drive in the city traffic. As Glen said, we can shift to the manual mode and have manual control with the paddles. HAPPY THAT HONDA BROUGHT THE ICON BACK TO INDIA. I bet people are going to fall just for its design, both inside and out. Btw, nice review as always Glen. #PDArmy

Don't know why Indians are running behind those shitty SUVs. The cars are so much fun to drive and are so much better at handling. I would buy a great handling car like this or a Skoda Octavia RS any given day over a SUV which no one uses off road. Great review. Loved the shots and the background music. Great job as always.
@realkewlmann5 жыл бұрын
Ground clearance is the answer, if it wasn't already obvious to you. im not sure which shitty SUVs youre referring to, but assuming you're talking about Creta, Ecosport and the likes (which are not even SUVs), theres a difference of ~80mm in ground clearance between the Civic and those cars. im not sure which roads youre driving on in India that are so pristine they compell you to always drive in your low riding performance vehicle, but you oughta know that a large amount of the population does not confine themselves to that 1.5 mile radius of "best roads" in town. do you even know what youre talking about?
@Pradeep-ix6dj5 жыл бұрын
@@realkewlmann if ground clearance was the answer, we would be seeing monster trucks everywhere but we don't, do we? SUV are called great OFF ROADERS for a reason. They are good OFF THE ROAD. I agree that we have sub standard road but we don't live in Mongolia. The cars are more than capable to handle these bad roads. There is a reason people choose cars over SUVs when it comes to performance and handling and I was merely pointing that out. And cars are more fun to drive around in the city and on the highways. A large amount of the population doesn't wonder outside the city more than once or twice a year but yet choose to buy a SUV. This is true even in many developed countries where the roads ARE PRISTINE. And yes I know what I am talking about. If SUVs are your choice, cars are mine. There was no need for you to pounce on me to defend it.

@@rpwzh5403 Hi Civic's maintenance totally depends on in what condition you are able to find a used car (difficult to find). I do just one service in a year, which includes oil change majorly. If used carefully civic doesn't drill any holes in your pocket. Civic parts are very much available if you are staying in metro cities. I always get it serviced from a trusted but not company's workshop. My civic has clocked around 80,000 kms and the major expenses i have incurred are replacing all suspension bushes (procured from Thailand as showroom ones were double the cost) and clutch assembly (it had become hard and also mentioned in 60,000 km service interval in service manual, cost 18000) I don't know spare part cost of Honda City hence can't comment which will be easier on your pocket. But Civic is in different league altogether. City doesn't stand a chance in power, ride, driving dynamics and comfort. Try to find a low mileage civic (around 50,000), don't step backwards to pay little extra for a well kept car. specifically check suspension condition, clutch and rattling noises.

Is the new car underpowered compared to the old one?..torque and power figures are up ...how is the old one better?
@shaleendutta39505 жыл бұрын
@@mukundthorat5672 it has the manual transmission .New one has the same engine with minor increase in power figures and it's the lowest in the segment at par with the Corolla Altis coupled with a rubbish CVT.Just look at the Elantra and Skoda Octavia they are way more powerful

Civic type R was the real 'Civic'

No speed sense door lock 🤔 that feature comes in cars of Rs. 3 lakhs. No ventilated seats ? Hundai Verna which is one segment lower offers that.

Even Honda City has that, I doubt civic which is much more costly than city wouldn't have this.

Team PD..Please pass a message to Honda to launch civic Type R..This will not work in india now..It's SUV/compact SUV market these days..Why even launch a car and soon after a few months sales graph goes down and start giving discounts..Rather launch civic type R and make people wait in line at their showrooms ..No discounts/no marketing expense..I know people who are still calling Skoda dealers and asking about next VRS comeback

The import fee would make the price go high for type R. Ppl won't spend more money for performance when they can get much more luxury for same price.
