So I'd like to issue a CORRECTION! At 9:49 I incorrectly identified the locking plate washer as a shim and put it on the wrong side of the flywheel. This is actually a washer intended to prevent the bolts from backing out. In the part 1 video the washer was in the correct position, but as it had been a couple of months between disassembling the car and reassembly I made a mistake. Fortunately this is a non issue as the part doesn't affect clutch engagement and there is more than 1mm of tolerance along the drive shaft, plus a liberal use of loctite on the clutch bolts so I'm not worried about anything coming apart. Anyone who follows this procedure in the future keep that in mind.

Hello, it's been a privilege that i can watch you work on that vehicle! Actually, I currently own a quattroporte f1 transmission version, and it had a gear unavailable worning for a some time when I down shift from 3rd to 2nd..... and then recently it did not start. Not even crank. I assumed that it was a transmission failure becaus all that is showing me was still a gear unavailable notice.... So I replaced the clutch, but the same thing is still happening. No crank, no codes on scanner. But, the ignition goes on and it starts when i starts forcing with a scanner. But, as you ca guess....the gear won't work. Any options in this?

My windshield wipers are not working I checked the motor the motor works there's power going to the windshield wiper through the wires I took about the switch the switch looks fine but no luck I can't find a problem even though there's power everywhere and the motor works what do you think

What was the torque spec for the bolts holding the clutch & pressure plate to the flywheel? I'm replacing one of these as well and this video has been so helpful. thank you very much!
@ShiftMotoring3 жыл бұрын
I think it was around 80Nm, but I can't recall. The best thing to do is check the bolt and grade when you get them out and then google a torque spec chart. Otherwise you can find some manuals around on ebay!

Hi, great Video, I have a 2006 QP and I am told the Clutch sensor is gone, as it does absolutely nothing every warning light is on and does not even crank over, now I was on a Maserati Forum and a chap with same problem sai his Dealer was able to change the clutch sensor through the opening where the starter motor fits, now I cannot believe that as surely the flywheel and clutch will not even allow you to see the clutch sensor ?? what do you think, also before I go to all the trouble of removing all the Trans and torque tube can not just connect my new sensor to the loom socket and see if my car will start, and proving that the sensor is the problem, any help or advice much appreciated, Thanks, Regards Eddie Walsh
@ShiftMotoring2 жыл бұрын
I'm pretty sure the the early QPs are the same driveline as the GS, in which case there is an access hatch at the bottom of the bell housing. You should be able to remove that, and only that and be able to change the sensor. It is a bit awkward but definitely possible!

Hi Mate, great work! Couple of questions: Did you balance the clutch and flywheel as an assembly off the car? or is it balanced well out the box? Also the flywheel washer is shown as the other side of the flywheel (i.e clutch side) on the diagrams does it matter? Last question, after a clutch change would I be able to drive to a garage to get it set up on the diagnostics? Keep up the good work mate
@ShiftMotoring3 жыл бұрын
I had it balanced as an assembly! I realised I put the locking washer on the wrong side, mistaking it as a spacing shim. Fortunately it won't have any affect (I've addressed it as part of the upcoming video). You would be able to drive it to a shop, but sometime next week my 3rd video on the clutch - the setup - will be coming out so you'll be able to see the process yourself! Make sure you subscribe!

It really is a good car if you're a proper tinkerer and enjoy learning by doing. The biggest pitfall is that you really do need a hoist or a lot of the jobs become very inaccessible.
